24 Usage of Location Skill Data Economic Agency Users From my perspective the ICT and foreign languages data is really good data to have. We have commissioned other work over the years which sits on the shelf gathering dust. This is at the other end of the spectrum really practical data which can be used by my team and is valued by companies. There is a perceived IT skills shortage across the UK. One aspect of this data for the our region shows that there are many IT trained people not currently working in IT giving a latent pool from which to recruit. Even when surveys claim to involve SMEs we know from experience the difficulty of engaging SMEs (and therefore the cost involved) and we frequently find it s always the usual suspects that are being measured.
