2 IAR Multicultural Summit Series Program 9:00 10:00 a.m. Morning Keynote Session Exploring the Opportunity in Asian Markets Dr. Oscar Gonzales Gonzales Group Dr. Oscar Gonzales, founder of the Gonzales Group, is a nationally known speaker and author on real estate trends, affordable housing, consumer behavior and business planning. He was named by REALTOR Magazine as one of the 25 Most Influential People in Real Estate Nationwide. He is a founding director of the Asian Real Estate Association of America (AREAA). In this program, learn the dynamics of Asian home-buying growth occurring in the United States and cultural nuances and how to maximize the effectiveness of relationship-building with the Asian consumer. Ann immigrated to the U.S. from Vietnam when she was one-year old. She began her real estate career in 2004 and opened her own firm Trandai Realty Commercial Real Estate and Investment in the Uptown Area of Chicago in Her commercial real estate practice includes sale, leasing transactions in office, retail, shopping center, multi-family buildings, hotels, gas station and tenant representation. She currently serves on the board of directors of the North Shore-Barrington Association of REALTORS and the CCIM Institute. She is treasurer of the AAREA Chicagoland chapter. In 2006, she received an Asian American Hall of Fame award in Business and Community Service. Ann holds both her B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology. REALTOR Alka Nigam Baird & Warner, Naperville Growing up in India and moving to the United States 20 years ago, Alka will share the ins and outs of Indian culture and business practice norms. Alka is a broker with Baird & Warner of Naperville. She has worked with a number of international clients throughout her real estate career. She is a certified residential and commercial Vaastu consultant. Vaastu is a science of living in harmony with nature and pertains to the physical, psychological and spiritual order of the built environment. Alka holds her B.S. in Computer Sciences.

3 The 2009 population estimates indicate that the Asian-American population continues to rapidly grow, increasing to 15.9 million or 5.2% of the total US population. In 2005, the three largest Asian-American groups across the nation were Chinese (2.9 million), Asian Indians (2.3 million), and Filipino (2.3 million). Chicago is the fourth largest U.S. city, with the largest Asian population behind Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco. Of Philippine heritage, Silvano will discuss the characteristics and cultural nuances of how this culture differs from other Asian countries. She will share her personal experience in working with Filipino clients in both residential and commercial sectors. She has attained the top producer awards from the Chicago Association of REALTORS as well as Outstanding Sales Achievement Award. She is currently the President of the Asian American Real Estate Association of America (AAREA) Chicago Chapter. She holds a B.A. degree in Economics from the University of the Philippines. REALTOR Joanne Hyun, CRB, CRS, GRI JHI Realty Inc., Wilmette Hyun has been a licensed real estate broker for 30 years and is broker-owner of JHI Realty Inc. in the North Shore area. She has extensive experience in working with Asian American clients. She will share her industry knowledge in working with clients and discuss cultural nuances familiar with the Korean culture. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. district court, appellate court and the U.S. Supreme Court. Throughout his career, Kameli has specialized in immigration and corporate law and is a strong advocate for international business. He will address the requirements as relates to working with the EB-5 program and relocating businesses internationally through the E2 Visa program. He will also address factors as relates to immigration law and international real estate. Kameli has his B.S. from State University at Stoneybrook and J.D. from Washburn University School of Law.

Lynn Chen, Certified Lending Specialist Citibank, Naperville Chen has over 10 years experience in the loan origination business. She natively speaks Chinese Mandarin and Cantonese. Lynn has closed over $300 million in mortgage loans. She has extensive experience and in-depth knowledge of loan origination, underwriting and processing and will be discussing ITIN loan originations and other issues as relates to financing with international clients. She received her Ph.D. and master s degree from universities in the United Kingdom and China. Zachary Benjamin National Association of REALTORS Global Business Development and Outreach Manager Benjamin joined NAR in He directly works with local associations to educate members about opportunities for global business and how to serve an ever-growing multicultural consumer and foreign buyer base. He will discuss global business programs REALTORS can become involved in and share information about NAR s real estate partnerships in Asia.
