1 Dr. Paul Hersey Founder and Chairman of the Board Center for Leadership Studies Dr. Paul Hersey s Situational Leadership has been used to train well over 14,000,000 managers and professional people from more than 1,000 businesses and other organizations. He is an internationally-known behavioral scientist and highly-successful entrepreneur. Professor Hersey is recognized as one of the world s outstanding authorities on training and development in leadership and management. In addition to his teaching, he is a consultant, on a continuing basis, to industrial, government, and military organizations. Dr. Hersey is presently a Distinguished Professor of Leadership Studies at Nova Southeastern University. He is a former faculty member of Northern Illinois University, California State College at Chico, University of Arkansas, and Ohio University. Dr. Hersey also served in the roles of Chairman of the Department of Management and Dean of the School of Business, as well as President of California American University Graduate School of Applied Behavioral Science. His most recent books include The Situational Leader, Situational Selling, Situational Service: Customer Care for the Practitioner, and Situational Parenting. Campbell, Ph.D. President and CEO Center for Leadership Studies Ron Campbell is responsible for managing the design, delivery and marketing of the Center for Leadership Studies programs worldwide. This includes a domestic network of strategic business partners, as well as 26 foreign affiliate offices. Prior to appointment as President in 1992, he served as Executive Vice President of Marketing, and as Director of Training Development. Ron earned his B.S. in Human Relations and Organizational Behavior from the University of San Francisco, and a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Hawaii. He holds a Masters in Human Resource Management from Pepperdine University and a Masters and a Doctorate in Applied Behavioral Science from California American University. He has taught courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels in management, personnel administration, statistics, and organizational behavior. 5 Leadership: A Behavioral Science Approach Paul Hersey This course focuses on the theoretical and practical use of leadership. It is taught with a particular emphasis on practical real life applications with hands on experience at diagnosing situations and applying the appropriate leadership style. The three main components of the Situational Leadership approach diagnosing, adapting, and communicating are discussed and practiced. Participants will analyze feedback on their leadership styles and identify strengths and areas for self development and practice skill building. Through case study, students will gain insights into Leadership Selection Competencies, Evaluate Performance and assess Promotability. Students will also analyze their power potential both from 360 feedback and introspection and design influence strategies to maximize their potential.
