1 1 July 6 September 2016 Amy Johnson Festival Opportunity We are seeking - 3 Programme Leads With just five months before the Amy Johnson Festival kicks off in Hull there is still much to do. We are now looking to appoint a team of freelance Programme Leads to work alongside the existing festival team. These are very much hands on roles, developing, securing, managing and delivering our existing programme commitments with some scope to initiate new content ideas. We have three openings for Programme Leads in: Outdoor Arts Performing Arts Digital Arts The positions are all part-time freelance appointments on a fixed fee of 6,000 which is based on our assessment of the time demands of these roles. The contracts will start as soon as possible and run through to the end of the festival on 6 September Background and Context 2016 is the 75th anniversary of the death of Amy Johnson, Hull's aviation heroine. Born in Hull in 1903, Amy Johnson CBE was one of the most influential and inspirational women of the twentieth century. She was the first woman to fly solo from England to Australia and set a string of other records throughout her career. Amy Johnson Festival (AJF) will mark this anniversary and celebrate Amy s life, achievements and legacy with an ambitious programme of the arts and engineering sciences appealing to all interests and ages. The aims of Amy Johnson Festival are: To raise awareness of Amy Johnson s achievements as an aviator, as an engineer and as a woman of her time To provide opportunities for new art to be created, inspired by Amy and the wider festival themes To encourage young women to consider engineering and the sciences as career choices through the presentation of positive role models and creative projects which explore technical, digital or mechanical ideas and applications To introduce new audiences to great art and cultural events To place Hull in an international context To help set the scene for Hull UK City of Culture 2017
2 Programme planning is in its advanced stages although there is still much to tie down, both with regards to our own events and those of partner organisations.
