1 Our Mission: Nourish Scottish identity through service, fellowship and celebration of Scottish culture. Service Fellowship Celebration of Scottish Culture Elder Care We support a home for the elderly, the Scottish Home, where our guiding philosophy is to provide our residents with loving, personal care and true friendship. Membership We welcome everyone who is Scottish by birth, by heritage and/or simply by inclination. Events We organize and host events to educate, entertain, preserve Scottish customs and promote both traditional and contemporary Scottish culture. Education We provide scholarships to help bright, talented students pursue academic excellence at universities in Scotland and the United States. Outreach We provide service and leadership to develop and enhance friendship and ex-change between Scotland and North America. Cultural Initiatives We sponsor initiatives to tell the stories of Scottish journeys and contributions to, experience and accomplishment in North America. ENTERPRISE - Inspired by Scotland s accomplished history of invention and innovation, the Society believes in honesty in every sphere of life, hard work, self-reliance and entrepreneurialism.

3 SERVICE EDUCATION Action Plan Development The Society offers scholarships to support US students at academic institutions in Scotland (Harper Brown Scholarship Program) and in the USA (Illinois Saint Andrew Scholarship program). In addition the Scottish Home hosts training internships for nursing students from Triton College, Illinois significantly expand resources of Scholarship programs establish partnerships with Alumni and Admissions Departments of Scottish Universities to enhance both screening and fundraising initiatives develop and deliver Scottish educational programs for Chicago area schools host a Scottish North American career fair featuring Scottish Universities Education We provide scholarships to help bright, talented students pursue academic excellence at universities in Scotland and the United States. contact area Universities to discuss organizing a Scottish Studies course. The University of Guelph, Canada has built a successful Department of Scottish Studies expand in-service educational programs at Scottish Home including staff, residents and resident families offer internships at the Scottish Home to Nursing Colleges in Scotland

CHICAGO SCOTS develop CHICAGO SCOTS brand develop and implement a branding/marketing campaign engage with young CHICAGO SCOTS in the manner of their choosing and provide programming and service that are relevant to them A downtown base for CHICAGO SCOTS develop a downtown Chicago presence for CHICAGO SCOTS initially through program/events and, when resources will allow, through the establishment of premises

5 OUTREACH Action Plan Development FELLOWSHIP CHICAGO-GLASGOW appoint and host the Glasgow-Chicago steering committee under the auspices of and within CHICAGO SCOTS to identify, facilitate and promote all opportunities for Chicago-Glasgow exchange and partnership feature Glasgow and Glasgow based organizations prominently in our programming US SCOTS provide leadership to the development of a National Association of Scottish American organizations Outreach We provide service and leadership to develop and enhance friendship and ex-change between Scotland and North America. develop a national US SCOTS board with representatives of each participating regional chapter taking a seat on this national board Scottish North American Leadership Conference and the Scottish American Hall of Fame will become initiatives of the US SCOTS develop a National Scottish American Service Center on behalf of and to serve the US SCOTS
