1 Freedom Festival Arts Trust are seeking a creative, flexible and driven Project Manager/Trainer, with expertise in the area of broadcast/media, to deliver a skills development project called Community Correspondents leading up to and including Freedom Festival Funded by City Health Care Partnership and supported by ABP this incredible project is designed to enable local people to play their part in the cultural renaissance taking place in Hull. Overview of the role An experience project manager with a broad understanding of broadcast and media is sought to deliver an audience development/community engagement/training initiative which places local people, representing communities in the city with a low engagement in the arts, at the centre of the cultural renaissance taking place in Hull. A skilled project manager, proficient in planning, scheduling and delivering training aligned to specific outcomes and able to travel, with participants to experience other festivals. Purpose of the Role The Project Manager/Trainer will lead the project, working in consultation with Freedom Festival Arts Trust to engage up to 15 volunteer correspondents to participate in a broad programme of work relating to audience engagement/development.
2 You will be responsible for conceiving and delivering training, and/or working with other creative partners to facilitate a programme of skills development for the participants. The training will focus on enabling participants to play an active role in the process of collecting, reporting, analyzing and disseminating news and information relating to Freedom Festival 2016 and other core activities. Main duties: Design and create a project plan and training schedule aligned to project outcomes Create work plan for all participants and ensure that they are continuously informed about training dates and work activity Liaise with local media outlets and maximise opportunities for the participants to participate in multiple broadcast/media experiences Connect the project call-out to relevant networks (with support from project manager and FF administration) Attend go-see with participants to another festival and plan/manage on site experience to include interviewing arts/producers Work with Freedom Festival Arts Trust to develop and deliver on going evaluation of the project in line with funder requirements Assist FF administrator to cultivate user generated content relating to the project which can be presented across the Freedom Festival web sites and/or social media pages. Work with marcomms team to develop a content plan for the Freedom Festival Newspaper which the Community Correspondents will create. Support and create material for the ongoing documentation of the project, a project blog, photographs, online user-generated content.
3 Some budget management/reporting in conjunction with the Executive Director. About the Project Community Correspondents is an audience development, community engagement and training initiative which places local people, representing communities in the city with a low engagement in the arts, at the centre of the cultural renaissance taking place in Hull. The initiative will seek to provide local people with an opportunity to develop and share their own narratives about cultural transformation. Correspondents will undergo a skills development programme facilitated by Freedom Festival Arts Trust in collaboration with Trust partners. The training will focus on enabling participants to play an active role in the process of collecting, reporting, analysing and disseminating news and information relating to Freedom Festival 2016 and other core activities. Participants will be supported on their learning journey through a series of hands on, practical training interventions positioning them to broaden their understanding Freedom Festival and the wider arts sector. In addition, they will develop multi-media communication skills enabling all correspondents to converse with local communities about Freedom Festival and its core activities. Our roaming cultural reporters will act as points of trust within the 23 wards that make up the city of Hull.
4 As part of their work they will: Attend cultural events and start to develop their own commentary about them Work with Freedom Festival to develop a community focused marketing programme Develop content for marketing collateral to be distributed across all 23 wards in Hull Conceive, develop and broadcast a series of community radio programmes talking about the Freedom Festival programme and wider cultural programme in this city Interview past and present artists Conceive, develop and write a full 8page Freedom Festival Newspaper (40,000 copies to be distributed throughout Hull Develop copy for potential use by local press Engage with local media Develop content for including vox pops and blogs. Curator role - fee and payment A daily rate of 150 is offered, exclusive of VAT, for a minimum of 15 days. The project manager will be required to work with Freedom Festival Arts Trust to agree a work/training schedule for participants. Flexibility will be required to support this programme of work. The hours will be worked flexibly and part-time including occasional evenings and weekends. It is anticipated that the some of the work will be conducted from the role holders own office and FF office with all of the participant
5 engagement/training taking place in an agreed venue/s in Hull. Regular communication between the post holder, the participants, Freedom Festival Trust and other partners will be vital and a schedule of onsite meetings will be established on appointment. As a self-employed contractor the role holder will have public liability insurance and will be required to provide proof of self-employment on appointment. The role holder is responsible for all VAT and/or any other tax payments that they may owe as a result of this employment and will make arrangements for them to be paid directly to HMRC.
