BID area businesses told us that the provision of high quality training, talks and workshops on topics relevant to business growth and staff development would be a welcome innovation. As a result, we are pleased to offer you a range of sector-specific and more generalised events, delivered by our partners, on topics including but not limited to: Digital Marketing including SEO, digital marketing for sales and social media for business Legal including employment law and debt enforcement Finance including VAT Safety & Security including preventing business crime HR including interview skills Business growth including writing business plans and how to health-check your business Marketing including writing effective press releases and merchandising masterclasses Students & young people including how apprenticeships and student placements can enhance your business We are constantly looking to add to the Cambridge BID Connects calendar and would welcome suggestions for other events that would benefit your business. 4 Connecting businesses to students and young people, the city and each other Understand how the next generation relates to your business, and vice versa, by taking the opportunity to engage with students and young people in Cambridge. Our partners can enable your business or organisation to make these connections, and experience the resulting benefits. Visit to find out about the range of student placement services that Anglia Ruskin University can provide. These include: accounting and finance, human resource, marketing and tourism management. You can also find out about apprenticeship schemes delivered by 3aaa, with IT, business administration and digital marketing being the three key areas that year olds receive training in before being placed with a business. Connect to the city Cambridge BID delivers Ambassador Knowledge Sessions, a service aimed at businesses with a focus on customer service, whose staff would benefit from a greater understanding of how visitors to Cambridge navigate the city and where their interests lie. These sessions are supported by our City Commandments document, which details the most common questions that visitors ask our team of City Ambassadors. We also intend to pilot a Staff Swap project, enabling businesses from different sectors to receive and send employees to one another for a day, in order to share knowledge and build a better understanding of what Cambridge has to offer. Connect to each other Cambridge BID Connects will facilitate opportunities for businesses and organisations within the BID Area to trade with each other. If you have a service or product that businesses and organisations within the city centre could be interested in, and you are prepared to incentivise new business through offers, we will help to promote this to our business community of 1,100. 5 Connecting businesses to a library of resources and external support Visit the website to browse a library of documents, available for you to download and use within your business. These documents include sample job descriptions, fire risk assessments and other resources to help you ensure your business is robust and compliant with legislation and best practice. We have also developed a directory of useful contacts within the city and region, from relevant departments and officers within the two local authorities, to other business support agencies or companies of interest. Connecting to the BID Businesses and organisations can engage with Cambridge BID (and influence how we deliver for the city) in a number of ways. Advisory Groups Chaired by BID Board Directors, BID Advisory Groups focus on our four work-streams: Pride and Promotion, Welcoming and Vibrant, Safe and Clean and Business Support. They give businesses and organisations the opportunity to benefit from our various projects as well as influence how they are delivered. Full details of the Advisory Groups are available within our calendar of events at Meet the Chairman breakfasts The first Thursday of each month gives businesses the opportunity to meet with Ian Sandison, Chairman of Cambridge BID, and discuss with him the work of the BID and issues facing businesses and the city as a whole.
