Ensures effective identification, evaluation, selection, and initial licensing of print and electronic information resources for the UNLV Libraries. Provides leadership in articulating the direction, balance and emphasis of local and remote, physical and electronic, information resources. Develops and implements collection assessment and coordinates the subsequent creation of new collection development policies. Assists on the overall strategic responsibility and guidance for the information resources budget, ensuring articulation with the mission and goals of the University and the Libraries so that it reflects current and future needs and priorities of the teaching and research enterprise. Responsible for day-to-day oversight and management of the collections budget of close to $7 million in state-appropriated and soft money funds. Utilize various library and university sources to monitor and manage allocations and expenditures via various library and university systems. Coordinate the annual budgetary process to strategically determine allocations to be loaded to the acquisitions fund structure. Facilitate the collection development activities of the Library Liaisons in close coordination with the Heads of Research & Information and of Instruction. Share leadership of the group with the Heads of Instruction and Research & Information, and work closely with them in guiding the group in developmental goals and objectives. Facilitates the Subject Liaisons efforts to develop access to digital and other information formats supporting the academic and research needs for the faculty and student of UNLV. Communicate with liaisons and other library staff to distribute information and solicit input relating to the Libraries collections, collection development policies and procedures, and matters related to the collections budget. Coordinates the ongoing process of serials evaluation and approval, working with the Liaisons and staff on subscription-based information resources in all formats for the collection. Chairs the Serials Review Group charged with recommending cancellations and new serials for the collection. Participates in defining and implementing key strategies for acquiring or accessing electronic resources. Coordinates and/or initiates changes related to collection development aspects of the Libraries approval plans and assists Subject Liaisons as they periodically review assigned subject profiles. Works with Liaisons to promote appropriate and substantive growth of the Library's collections in all disciplines. Coordinates collection development activities with consortia, including those in Nevada and Utah, and other regional and national consortia as assigned. Lead collection assessments to evaluate collections, user needs, campus academic priorities and fiscal resources in collaboration with other Library staff. Identify and share information on best practices in collection assessment. Supports Subject Liaison analysis and assessment of the adequacy of collections for accreditation, program and budget reviews, and new curriculum proposals. Assists Subject Liaisons in periodic collection analyses within area(s) of responsibility for the purpose of assessing collection strengths and weaknesses and developing plans for collection remediation. Oversight of ongoing collection of electronic resource use statistics and analyzes a variety of use statistics on electronic and print resources. Uses reports to support evidence-based collection development and management decisions. Serve as the primary contacts with vendors and publishers of print and digital materials for the collections. Oversees the licensing of electronic resources, including negotiation of pricing with vendors. Leads library efforts in the scholarly communication arena and share information with the UNLV community on issues concerning electronic publishing, open access to networked, digital information, institutional repositories, and copyright policy. Coordinate the Libraries initiatives with partners at the campus, local, regional, and national levels. Provide direction to subject librarians regarding their liaison responsibilities for scholarly communication conversations. Supervises and evaluates performance of the Collection Development classified staff, and continuously evaluates effectiveness of staffing and work processes, making recommendations for change to Director as needed. Provides orientation to Collection Development activities, procedures, and policies for subject liaisons and other staff as needed. Oversees gift policies and procedures and is the main contact person for potential donors. Liaison to the Management Department in the College of Business. Responsible for the selection of library materials including books, serials and electronic databases. Provide library and reference assistance to

2 faculty, undergraduate and graduate students via , chat, telephone and in-person. Serve as Innopac Module Coordinator responsible for updating and maintaining the library web OPAC. Also served as Subject Librarian for the College of Hotel Administration and Department of Public Administration until July 2006 Work collaboratively with Business faculty to evaluate and select information resources in all formats for the Libraries collections and manage the transition of a print-based collection to one that is primarily digital Participate in budget planning activities, monitor allocations and expenditures of state funds and endowments for the area of business and as assigned, the general library collections budget Assist Director of Collection Management with licensing of electronic resources. Negotiate pricing and licensing for electronic resources; establish and maintain effective relationships with content providers; act as primary contact with vendors and publishers of print and digital information resources. Evaluate approval plan and serials vendor performance in assigned areas and as needed, for the general collections In conjunction with the Director of Collection Management, represent and coordinate consortial collection development activities for UNLV Libraries with University of Nevada, Reno, UALC, ICOLC and other consortia or consortia-related organizations as assigned In assigned subject areas, conduct formal and informal reviews of the collections to ensure content and scope meet the needs of UNLV users. Assess adequacy of the business collection for accreditation, program and budget reviews. Analyze use, circulation and other statistics for electronic and print resources to encourage evidence-based collection development and management decisions for the business collection. In collaboration with Director of Collection Management and subject liaisons, develop methods to evaluate library collections, user needs, and campus academic priorities Assisted in the creation of and serve on the Liaison Enhancement Team, a professional development resource for subject librarians charged with liaison duties. The Team serves to enhance the current organizational structure and improve collaboration between subject librarians as they perform their research, instruction and collection development responsibilities Perform outreach and marketing activities to students and faculty at the College of Business to highlight new services and collections. Encourage discussion within the College related to new initiatives in scholarly publishing Special projects: Served on working group charged to establish New Program Assessment policies and evaluation techniques for liaisons; member of library development partnership team for the sci-tech-med research service, Scopus; worked with faculty to develop core journals list to aid College of Business merit, tenure and promotion process; assisted in the development of a web interface for the library online catalog for UNLV Libraries; conducted usability tests and created surveys to measure user behavior; coordinated serials assessment project for assigned colleges; served on library Serials Review Group charged with evaluating and selecting new journals and databases; de-selected books in assigned subject areas for library-wide stacks relocation project; worked collaboratively with the Assistant Dean of the College of Business to create cost sharing purchases of research databases such as Wharton Research Data Services (WRDS); represented UNLV Libraries on Nevada State Library s database committee responding to vendor RFPs 2001 Distance Learning Librarian University of South Florida Tampa, FL Based in the Florida Distance Learning Reference & Referral Center, was responsible for providing library and reference service via telephone, , and chat to students enrolled in distance learning courses at 73 Florida colleges and universities.
