This involves hiring and evaluating members of the department, managing workflow and communication among librarians and staff members, strategic planning for the department that includes services for distance learners, participating in university and library committees, providing instruction and reference service, selecting reference materials to support the curriculum, and mentoring members of the department. As a department head I also participate in the Libraries strategic planning to support the needs of the university community. This included providing reference service, developing library instruction and handouts to improve library research skills, promoting library outreach services to the University s off-campus population, community college librarians, public librarians, and Wyoming State Library. In addition, provided reference service and instruction for campus students and served as subject bibliographer for three departments; Family & Consumer Sciences, Communication Disorders, and Kinesiology & Health Education.
