Collins NNLM-MAR Consumer Health Coordinator Education M.L.I.S San José State University School of Library and Information Science December 2006 B.A., Organizational Communication California State University, Stanislaus Organizational Communication Studies May 2003 Professional Experience National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NN/LM) Middle Atlantic Region (MAR) Consumer Health Coordinator Health Sciences Library System University of Pittsburgh (October 2011-Present) Responsibilities: Identifies populations (including minorities and community-based organizations) where there is a need and/or opportunity to introduce consumer health information, and solicits proposals for training and/or other programs or services Creates and encourages partnerships, and fosters existing consumer health collaborations and programs Exhibits at health fairs and similar venues Solicits proposals and develops programming for consumer groups and special populations, specifically agencies serving military personnel, veterans and their families; caregivers; and the aged Provides information and consultation on funding and awards; monitors progress and follow-up for awards in progress Serves as regional needs assessment and evaluation liaison for consumer health initiatives Consults with the NN/LM Outreach Evaluation Resource Center and other NN/LM Regions and provides training/consultation on developing and applying effective evaluation techniques for outreach awards Develops in person or online workshops and training sessions for librarians, consumers, and healthcare professionals in providing access to consumer health information, with special emphasis on MedlinePlus and other NLM resources Contributes articles as appropriate to the MAR Newsletter Serves as primary contact and provides staff support to the Special Advisory Group on Consumer Health Maintains standards of accessibility for all resources created and maintained. Accessibility must be in accordance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act Academic Liaison Librarian (February 2009-October 2011) Morris Library University of Delaware Responsibilities: Serve as the liaison to the College of Health Sciences and as the Coordinator for Distance Learning. Perform collection management and serve as subject liaison to the School of Nursing, Department of Behavioral Health and Nutrition,
2 Department of Medical Technology and the Department of Physical Therapy and Department of Kinesiology and Applied Physiology, and Biomechanics and Movement Science. Provide reference service and research consultations, physical (face-to-face) and virtual, to both university and public library users.
