1 Department of Accounting John and Mary Schleiger Undergraduate Scholarship Fall 2014 General Information Scholarship Details The Schleiger Scholarship is $7,600 per year renewable for three additional years for a total potential award of $30,400. This is approximately equal to the total cost of tuition, fees, and books for the 2014/2015 academic year. The Schleiger Scholarship cannot be combined with any other UNO College of Business Administration or Department of Accounting scholarships. The scholarship recipient will be selected based on merit while also considering financial need. Initial Eligibility Requirements: In order to apply for a Schleiger Scholarship, applicants must: have continuously maintained Nebraska residency since August, 2004; demonstrate financial need by completing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA); receive a o 25 or better on the ACT, or o 1800 or better on the SAT; complete and submit a Schleiger Scholarship application by February 14, 2014 along with a 500-word essay and two letters of recommendation. If awarded a Schleiger Scholarship, recipients must: attend UNO College of Business Administration in the fall of 2014 and intend to declare accounting as their major and while attending UNO, either: o reside with their parents or guardians, OR o work at least part-time

2 Renewal Requirements: Schleiger Scholarships may be renewed for three additional years. The minimum requirements for renewal are: maintain residency in Nebraska; complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid; either: o reside with their parents or guardians, OR o work at least part-time; maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5, both overall and in upper-division accounting courses; earn a grade of B or better in each Acct 2010 and Acct 2020; earn a GPA of 3.5 or better in Acct 2010 and Acct 2020 combined; select courses that should result in timely completion of their accounting degree; file an application for renewal with the Accounting Department by February 1 st ; meet with a member of the Accounting faculty to discuss the renewal criteria and their progress towards earning an accounting degree.

If you wish to apply for other scholarships from the UNO CBA or Department of Accounting, please visit However, if selected for a Schleiger scholarship, you will be required to decline all other CBA and Accounting scholarships. In addition to this application, Schleiger applicants are required to demonstrate financial need by filing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
