Jones Scholarship The Deloitte Foundation Speed Type Code: Are enrolled at UHD full-time Demonstrate financial need Pursue the study of an Accounting Major or Are working towards a professional certification in Accounting Maintain a minimum of 3.25 GPA Application must be filled out, two reference letters, biographical statement, including financial need, and returned to FACIS department located in Shea Street Building, B410. Scholarships are renewable and shall be awarded annually to provide financial aid and assistance to undergraduate students who fulfill the criteria. The Charles Saunders, Sr. Memorial Scholarship in Entrepreneurship Endowment Speed Type Code: Scholarship prospect exhibits qualities of an entrepreneur as determined by the College of Business Scholarship Committee Scholarship applicant should be a declared major in the College of Business Scholarship applicant must be certified full-time undergraduate or graduate certificate or degree-seeking student in good standing at the University of Houston-Downtown Scholarship recipient may accept other scholarships and grants in conjunction with the Charles Saunders Sr. Memorial Scholarship Committee Scholarship recipient may accept other scholarships and grants in conjunction with the Charles Saunders Sr. Memorial Scholarship in Entrepreneurship Funds may be used to cover expenses for tuition, books, fees, and/or supplies for the coming academic semester. 3 Dr. Asghar Nazemzadeh Memorial Scholarship Speed Type Code: Award: One scholarship at $1000 per year with $500 awarded for the Fall and Spring semesters An undergraduate in the Department of Finance, Accounting and Computer Information Systems Enrolled in a minimum of 3 semester credit hours at UHD GPA of 3.5 at UHD Must demonstrate financial need May receive the scholarship more than once and may also accept other scholarships and grants The COB scholarships will be awarded in accordance with all UHD regulations pertaining to nondiscrimination. The COB Scholarship Selection Committee will select scholarship recipients. Students with application questions should direct questions solely to the staff in the COB Dean s office. Recipients will be provided contact information in order to express their thanks and appreciation to the appropriate scholarship sponsor.

(Trey) Williams Criminal Justice Book Scholarship Speed Type Code: Award: $250 per academic semester Scholarship applicant must have been officially admitted to the Masters in Criminal Justice program at UHD Scholarship applicant must be a graduate student with a minimum of 3.0 GPA Scholarship applicant must have demonstrated a high degree of professionalism and a commitment to the field of criminal justice Contact: College of Public Service Phone: Application: April 1 for fall semester award and November 1 for spring semester award Please submit to Paulette Purdy, College Business Administrator (C345), a typed personal statement titled Frank P. 6 Urban Education Scholarship Speed Type Code: Award: This scholarship is designed to help support students in the teacher education program at the University of Houston-Downtown. Specifically, the scholarship will assist students with course and textbook fees during any one (1) of the three (3) semesters in which they are taking their Professional Development Sequence; that being the two semesters in which they are serving as interns in public schools and the one semester in which they are student teaching. A student may receive the scholarship for one semester. Awards are based on available funds and should not be expected as a matter of course. Students who have been officially admitted to the program and who will register for PDI, PDII, or Student Teaching Students who will be taking 9-12 hours of course work as described above Students who have a minimum 2.7 GPA Students who have demonstrated a high degree of professionalism and a commitment to teaching in urban schools A letter of application of 1200 words including outside activities and family commitments, special honors and awards received, community service, career objectives, and other pertinent information about self Contact: College of Public Service Phone: Deadline: March 10 for funding for the upcoming fall semester October 10 for funding for the upcoming spring semester ASIS Masters Scholarship Speed Type Code: Award: The MSME Program will establish standard funding for each scholarship in the amount of $3,000 for the term of one calendar year. IT Scholarship Speed Type Code: Award: Ranges from $500 to $1,000 per academic year Degree seeking UHD Student enrolled in a minimum of 6 hours 2.5 or higher GPA Must be in good academic standing Must be a current or previous UHD IT department employee Must write an essay of approximately 500 words describing the value and/or impact of technology in the workplace Must submit at least one letter of recommendation, preferably by the student s most recent UHD IT department supervisor.
