2 What have we done so far Staff has been researching a comprehensive approach to our facility needs since 2004 initially in response to our enrollment growth / The Old Mill School community lead by architect Evan Cross designed and presented options for increasing the capacity of Old Mill School in response to pressure on the facility from adding Full Day Kindergarten District Wide December The Facilities Task Force was established by the Board of Trustees. Its Primary Mission: "Recommend ways in which our facilities can contribute to enhanced and improved education programs for all students."
3 What have we done so far May MVSD Facilities Task Force issued their report February 2007 Consultants completed a Condition Assessment report, and identified needed upgrades to the existing facilities and infrastructure November 2008 Educational Specifications completed and adopted by Board of Trustees June 2009 Facilities Master Plan adopted by Board of Trustees August 2009 Pre Bond Implementation Plan adopted by Board of Trustees November 2009 Bond Measure C passed by the voters of the Mill Valley School District for $59.8 million dollars
4 What have we done so far January 2010 Van Pelt Construction Services awarded contract to provide program and construction management services of district facilities by the Board of Trustees February 2010 Deems Lewis McKinley (DLM) Architects awarded contract to provide architectural planning and design services for the new construction of Edna Maguire elementary school March 2010 Standard and Poor's Upgrades District Bond Rating from AA to AAA March to August 2010 Edna Maguire Site Committee held its design meetings, and held meetings with entire Staff to collect input
5 What have we done so far September 2010 Board of Trustees approved the Schematic Design for the new Edna Maguire School October 2010 Board of Trustees approved a phasing plan for the new Edna Maguire School. Accelerating the construction of the new school from a thirty to thirty-six month period to a fifteen to eighteen month period

14 New Building Technical Highlights Energy Usage will be approximately in the range of 35-40% savings compared to the existing 1950 s buildings Building Insulation Higher Efficiency Mechanical with Energy Management Artificial Lighting is vastly more efficient with much more natural color spectrum Natural Light will substantially reduce artificial lighting demands Water Consumption will be reduced interior and exterior.
