1 Kentucky Tech FBLA students excel at 2010 State FBLA Conference National Conference will take place from July amid flooding disaster plans to move conference to Downtown Nashville have been confirmed The 2010 Kentucky FBLA State Leadership Conference was held under the direction of Vicki Whitaker from April at the Galt House Hotel and Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville, Kentucky. "FBLA members competed in 64 events with the top three in objective tests and the top two in performance events-projects-reports qualifying for the national leadership conference to be held in Nashville, Tennessee," said Whitaker. According to Whitaker, "Students from approximately 25 Kentucky Tech area technology centers participated in state FBLA competitions. Students from 18 Kentucky Tech area technology centers placed in the top 5 in various events. Of those 18, students from nine Kentucky Tech schools earned the right to compete at this year s national conference in Nashville, Tennessee." Out of 211 students who will represent Kentucky FBLA at national conference, approximately 88 students are from the Kentucky TECH school system. Your Passport to the Future was the theme during the 58 th Kentucky State Conference.
2 Vicki Whitaker OCTE Academic Consultant for Business and Marketing Technologies FBLA-PBL State Adviser and Chairman Thank you to all of the wonderful advisors, state office staff, business and industry supporters, local school district personnel, parents, and administrators for an outstanding state conference. The work that each of you do creates a positive atmosphere for all of our FBLA students to have an opportunity to compete was a successful year for the students at our area technology centers. I am so proud to be associated with the area technology center students and teachers, and can t t say enough about how well they have represented Kentucky Tech and Kentucky FBLA. "Our number of qualifiers for state competition continues to t increase, our competitions get more challenging, and still our students continue to excel in a variety of the 64 competitive events. On top of this, they also seek leadership opportunities by serving as state officers. FBLA is committed to bringing business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative Vicki Whitaker leadership and career development programs. FBLA is an integral part of the business curriculum and our teachers are using strong curriculum-oriented activities to help students gain career, leadership, and personal l skills that maximize employability. "FBLA and other career and technical student organizations are powerful tools to prepare young people to become productive citizens and to assume roles of leadership ership in their communities."

Wellman: My students discovered the potential to go beyond their expectations during their state conference experience. They gained a stronger sense of unity and loyalty among their group and encouraged each other every step of the way. I am so proud of their success and can't wait to see what the National conference holds in store for our competitors.
4 Martin County ATC Betty J. Hunt Adviser Being able to take students to Louisville for FBLA State Leadership Conference is a highlight of my teaching year. Students are able to make contacts and come away with friends from across the state of Kentucky. They come away with more confidence in themselves because they have competed on the state level. In addition, our students enjoy traveling to another part of Kentucky. Many times, we take students that have never seen the great city of Louisville. This year was a treat because of the city gearing up for Thunder over Louisville. My students enjoyed talking to an Air force pilot that shared he was in FBLA 17 years ago. We all enjoyed the practice air show over the Ohio River. We bring home great memories to share with parents, fellow students, administrators and teachers. Photo: KY Tech-Martin Co. delegation Finley: KY Tech-Russell ATC Keri Finley and Jennie Lewis Advisers We are extremely proud of how our students performed at the FBLA Region 5 Conference held at Morehead State University. Although we did not place at state conference, our students had a great time, became acquainted with others from across the state and learned many valuable lessons. Being able to expose students to this type of experience allows them to have a better understanding of the business world.
