1 2013 GSA Staff Awards Winners All staff recognized must achieve goal and have a minimum of skilled performance rating to qualify for awards. All events/markets awarded must raise a minimum of $250,000 to qualify. We believe that the following awards criteria are firm. However, in an effort to communicate these awards to staff as quickly as possible, we recognize the potential need to make modifications and reserve the latitude to adjust the awards criteria if necessary. Select Executive Cabinet and Staff Nominated Awards Rao Musunuru M.D., GSA Staff Award of Excellence: This is the highest and most distinguished staff award for the GSA Awards Ceremony. Given to one staff person annually who has demonstrated exceptional contributions and distinguished service in their field that impacted the entire affiliate. Recipients of this award are to be selected primarily for their continued and significant contributions to the American Heart Association. Nominees should value and exhibit leadership, integrity, excellence, vision, dedication, passion, inclusiveness and sensitivity in their work. Kathy Fenelon Regional Vice President, Quality Improvement Initiative St. Petersburg, Fla. Mission Award: Given to the staff person who has most successfully furthered the mission of the American Heart Association as demonstrated by his/her community impact, volunteer engagement and drive for results. Wendee Bloom Regional Vice President Communications Metairie, La. Rookie of the Year Award: Staff person that was hired after January 1, 2012 and before January 1, 2013 who exemplifies the values and Best Practices of the association while achieving distinction in performance. Individual has shown a proven track record of success in a short period of time. Award winner should demonstrate the following qualities: exceptional volunteer/staff partnerships, leadership, decision-making, positive attitude, problem-solving, integrity, etc. One staff from Development and one staff from Health Strategies will be recognized. Paula Feather, Mission: Lifeline Program Director Nashville, Tenn. Call to Action Award: Field staff who incorporated Health Initiatives messages and calls to action into all fundraising events and donor/volunteer relationships and who took opportunities to promote these lifesaving messages to the communities in which they work. Jenny Daniels, Heart Walk Director Metairie, La. Excellence in Administration: Awarded to an administrative staff member who has had the most significant accomplishments. Consistently goes above and beyond the call of duty. Demonstrates attention to detail, maintains a positive attitude sees projects through to completion, and anticipates needs. 2 Performance Data Award Categories, Development (no staff nominations) GSA ROI Award: Awarded to the Market VP/Regional VP with the highest staffing ROI in the GSA. One VP awarded. Blue Zone Achievement Award: Awarded to the Market that achieves the most months in the Blue Zone throughout the year. If there is a tie, the market that had the most dollars over their blue zone cumulative total wins the award. One market awarded. May 31 st Fiscal Market Achievement Award: Awarded to markets that achieve or exceed fiscal goal by May 31, Special recognition to the market that hits fiscal goal first. Multiple markets awarded. Youth Market, Highest New Dollar Increase with Online Fundraising: YM staff person with the highest net dollar growth in online fundraising; achieved goal; and raised a minimum of $250,000 in overall individual campaign. Polly Perkins, YM Director Nashville, Tenn.. Projection Award: Each April our teams are asked to give a projection in for how much they will raise by the close of the year. This award is given to the VP Team that comes the closest to hitting their April projection. Jessica Gremillion, VP Development Metairie, La. Performance Data Award Categories, Health Strategies (no staff nominations) Excellence in Quality Improvement Initiatives: Awarded to a QII team member who has had the greatest percentage increase in number of hospital recognition awards, and greatest percentage increase in number of GWTG contracts (all with consideration of market penetration). Individual must achieve threshold goal to qualify. Kathy Fenelon Regional Vice President, Quality Improvement Initiative St. Petersburg, Fla. Excellence in Multicultural Initiatives: Awarded to the Multicultural (MCI) team member who has exceeded department priority areas by the greatest percentage over goal. This person must meet/exceed all goals for MCI leadership team, alliance/partner engagement and activation, targeted initiatives implemented, ambassador recruitment/activation/pathing and market health plan goals. Nettie Jackson, Multi-Cultural Initiatives Director Marietta, Ga. Fundraising Collaboration Award: For a Health Strategies staff person who does exemplary work in fundraising by creating teams, raising dollars, actively participating in events and helping to build donor/volunteer relationships.

Market Collaboration Award: Recognizes teams in metro markets that have demonstrated significant and collaborative achievement across the market (across three or more functions) to meet the American Heart Association s goals for fiscal year (This would be the same market that is submitted for Cass Wheeler Integration Award). Jacksonville Florida "This is Where My Heart Is" Excellence in Communications: Awarded to a communications team member who has exceeded department priority areas by the greatest percentage over goal. This person must meet/exceed all goals in collaborating across departments, capitalizing on media opportunities, building strong relations with media partners, developing social media strategies, and cultivating media spokespeople. Excellence in Advocacy: Awarded to the Advocacy team member who has met or exceeded their skilled performance objectives and has implemented either innovative or effective strategy and/or tactics to produce a measurable increase in: volunteer engagement with AHA in pursuit of a public policy goal (ex: virtual lobby day) external funding executing AHA policy priorities or (ex: securing grant funding on a new issue) public awareness of AHA policy priorities and work in a new setting or community (ex: fresh use of grassroots resources like smoke-free billboards) This award will have a preference toward a specific innovative strategy or tactic that takes a new approach to solving public policy problems.
