2 1.0. Course Descriptor This course covers the processes used to determine project human resource needs and to acquire, develop, and manage a project team. Project Human Resource Management is a key element of effective project management. It is important for a student and an organization to remember that people are the most important assets in organizations and on projects. Students will learn about the psychosocial issues that affect how people work and how well they work. These include motivation, influence, power, and effectiveness. Understanding these dynamics will help organizations to find and keep qualified people. 1.1 objective of the Course To know about the relevant and appropriate concepts, theories and frameworks appropriate to Project Human resource Management To understand the nature and importance of Project human resource management decisions in a Project To be able to make effective contributions to the design and implementation of policy in a range of Project settings To be able to build and critically assess knowledge related to aspects of SHRM To be able to find, review and evaluate a variety of information relevant to topics HR Project Management To be able to compile reports that are robust in both intellect and practicerelevant terms for the Project To be able to work collaboratively in Project Teams To conduct a job analysis and apply this understanding of job requirements to other HRM systems such as selection, performance appraisal, and compensation for Project Team To evaluate the effectiveness of Project Human Resource Management processes and practices To gain enhanced critical thinking skills to analyse how human resource practices can support a firm s strategic objectives and enhance long-term performance of the project 2
