1 The Performing Arts School This August the Lighthouse Theatre is excited to offer local youngsters an opportunity to train with West End professionals during its Performing Arts School production of Cats. The PFS will run from the 6 th 16 th August 2014 with performances between 14 th -16 th August. The course is open to all children aged 9 14 years of age. Everyone is welcome, and auditions will be held from those who have registered for the course to determine casting for the lead roles. The course is designed to develop Stage and Performance technique and will involve direct participation by a leading choreographer and director. Course Director The Performing Arts School is proud to have Paul Hammond as its Artistic Director, who in his daily role as the Lighthouse Theatres Creative Director is keen to share his extensive knowledge and experience with the abundance of talented children in the area. Paul, himself trained in Musical Theatre at The Guildford school of Acting and has previously worked at the Kent Theatre Academy and Foxbush Theatre. An accomplished voice teacher and theatre producer he is passionate about the development of young talent and many of his pupils have gone on to secure roles in London s West End. CATS Cats first opened in Londons West End in 1981 and became one of the world s most famous and best loved musicals grossing over 1bn. As the Jellicle Cats emerge from the Junkyard, each cat introduces itself and their unique qualities: from the magical Mr Mistoffelees to the

2 mysterious Macavity and the glamorous but spurned Grizabella. Explore the feline world as they prepare for the Jellicle Ball Course details August 6 th 16 th 2014 daily 9.30am 4.30pm Some students may be required to rehearse until 6.00pm on some occasions. 14 th - 16 th August live performance of CATS. The children will need to bring packed lunches and drinks with them daily. Payment Details Course fee is 195. For students who have attended a previous performing arts school course the fee is the full amount or the deposit can be paid on line using your log in details which can be obtained from the Performing Arts School. FAQ s My child has never performed or attended any classes before, can they still join the Summer School? Of course they can, as long as they have a lot of enthusiasm and are willing to try new things they are perfect for the Summer School Course. What should we wear? Loose fitting clothes that allow movement and trainers or dance shoes. How do I book? It s easy you can pay via the website link or in person at The Lighthouse Box Office at the Lighthouse Theatre, Kettering NN15 6PB Installment option available 3 Easy payments of 65. Can we buy tickets for the Performance? Of course tickets will be available via the Box Office and online and parents will get first notification before they are offered for general sale.
