2 teen and tween summer reading program You must have completed fifth grade to sign up for the Teen/Tween Summer Reading Program. Read six books to complete the program and earn a lava pen and coupons for free entertainment and food items, including: Admission to the Tulsa Zoo Admission to the Tulsa State Fair Cinnamon sticks from Mazzio s Italian Eatery Snack wrap and bottled water from McDonald s Chicken nuggets from Wendy s Frozen custard from Freckles Frozen Custard Glazed doughnut from Krispy Kreme Iced and decorated cookie from Merritt s Bakery Round-trip bus ride on Tulsa Transit Admission to a Tulsa Shock game Admission to a Tulsa Drillers game Once you complete the program, you may enter a drawing for cool prizes, provided by the Tulsa Library Trust, including: Xbox 360 console with Kinect bundle Kindle Fire $25 and $50 Barnes & Noble gift cards $25 and $50 AMC Movie gift cards $100 Old Navy gift card $100 Best Buy gift card Laptop, provided by the TCCL Staff Association Entries for the drawing must be received by Aug. 2. Coldthorn the Mentalist - Be a part of the bizarre world of Coldthorn. Bend spoons with your mind. Mardi Gras Mosaics - Artist Michael Parrish will supply the beads; you supply the creative! Limited to 20 participants. Tulsa Children s Museum Presents Reclaim This! Wild Bots - Unleash your creativity transforming recycled materials into working bots/robots that wiggle, giggle and even draw! Tulsa Children s Museum Presents Squishy Circuits - It s shocking to discover everyday materials that conduct electricity! Explore circuitry fun with homemade play dough. The Great Lego Build-Off Competition for Grades Bring your Legos and assemble an original creation based on the theme "Spark a Reaction." You will have 90 minutes to build from start to finish. Build the best and you will win a prize. Top three winners will advance to the next round competing against tween/teens from other Tulsa City-County Library branches at an event on July 25. Zarrow Award for Young Readers Literature. He will be in Tulsa Aug. 22 to receive the Zarrow award and present awards to winners of the 2014 Young People s Creative Writing Contest. Launchables Wednesday, June 11 10:30 a.m.-noon To study projectiles and the laws of physics, participants will work together to build small catapults and slingshots from provided instructions or whatever they can imagine to launch water balloons or small sponges. If the teams are able to hit a target (one of our own librarians) with the balloon or sponge, they will win a prize! For ages Chemistry Lab Wednesday, June 25 10:30-11:30 a.m. Learn how to combine everyday objects into incredible stuff. Watch chemical reactions change household items right before your eyes.
