Work with nontraditional tools and learn new painting techniques. Alla Prima Alla Fun! Can t draw a stick figure, not artistic but have always wanted to try painting? No worries. Alla Prima is a style of completing a painting in one session. The words are Italian and mean at once. You will be guided through the artistic process step by step as you create your very own painting. Artist Trading Cards A unique class for artists to explore a variety of mediums. Students create miniature works of art. Kids can exchange the cards they create and become a part of an art movement that began in Switzerland in 1996 and spread throughout the world. Baby Steps An exciting and energetic class for parent-child bonding while students learn basic motor skills through the arts. Partake in easy to make art projects as well as song and dance activities.
5 Page 7 Bead Fusing Create your favorite characters in an 8-Bit style by arranging individual plastic beads and then fusing them together using a household iron. The resulting projects can be made into key chains, magnets, wall decoration and more! Beading & Bracelet Making Learn to make a bracelet that you can wear home that day or give as a gift. Bracelet making techniques taught include beading and/or braiding. Cartooning Convert your world into a wacky cartoon! Design bold and creative imagery with limitless possibilities. Campers learn how to draw basic cartoons and develop their skills to make their own characters. Clay Animation This exciting camp combines fun and hands-on art activities through the creation of an animated movie. Use your imagination and ideas to develop characters, background, props, sound and storyboard. Then learn how to shoot your movie. Maybe you re the next Tim Burton. Clay Creations Come and explore the wonders of clay with us. Imagination is your guide to creating unique and adventurous artworks. Students learn building and glazing techniques. Cookonomics You re the next top chef, in this scrumptious culinary adventure where you learn about cooking through hands on experience. Explore a selection of ingredients, preparation and presentation. Cool Clay! The wonders of clay are infinite...create creatures, characters, and sculpture. Use your imagination and sensational things can happen. Students learn building and glazing techniques. Daddy & Me An art class for the parent and child to enjoy together! Paint, draw, or make crafts together while creating fun memories. Digital Drawing & Animation Students use a digital drawing pad to draw on the computer and learn the computer program Toon Boom. Students animate their drawings and have them come to life. Digital Photography Explore the world of digital photography using Adobe Photoshop Elements. Manipulate images, create interesting, unusual effects, and develop your own personal vision. Duct Tape Everything! It s durable. It s colorful, but most importantly...it s fashionable! Truth be told, it s the accessory that no child can do without. What is it? DUCT TAPE. In this innovative class, students combine their creativity and craftiness to make a variety of Duct Tape accessories including flowers, wallets, ties and more. Fashion Design Elements Implement your fashion ideas by learning how to make sketch pages of model drawings, pattern templates, color combinations, fabric samples and more Fused Glass Learn about basic design & color with fused glass. Create a variety of pieces working at your own pace. Tools provided. Leather Pouches & Bracelets Learn to assemble leather pouches and bracelets while learning different techniques such as lacing and stamping.
6 Page 8 Mask Making Masks have since ancient times, been an important part of all cultures. In this exciting class, design a superhero mask or create a mask from one of the many different countries that use them in their cultural traditions. Medieval Crowns and Tiaras Travel back to medieval times and create a wearable work of art representing the royalty of Kings, Queens, and Princesses. Metal Foil Impressions Make portraits, landscapes, or simple patterns by making impressions into metal. Mommy & Me An art class for the parent and child to enjoy together! Paint, draw, or make crafts together while creating fun memories. Monster Creations Use your imagination and create your own monsters. Start with drawing and go all the way to figures formed with clay. BEWARE! Unknown creatures lurk in this class. Mosaic Masterpiece Learn the art of mosaic decoration with small pieces of colored tiles, stones or other materials. Campers create beautiful patterns and pictures using this ancient technique and a variety of materials. Mixing colors and shapes will be a truly magical experience. Mosaic Stepping Stones Learn to make a colorful addition to your garden or front yard through the art of mosaics by using colorful broken title pieces to make unique patterns and designs. No Sew Throw Pillow Learn to make a throw pillow without needing to sew! A fun project that is soft and colorful made from a plush fleece fabric. Painting A fun experimental class for young artists. Learn about famous artists and create works of art with a variety of artistic methods and materials and subjects including sci-fi landscapes, jungle animals and more. Rocket Ships that Blast Off! Make your very own bottle rocket ship that can blast off in the air using a rocket launcher and learn about the physics that causes it s blast! Scratch Art Reveal vibrant colors by scratching your designs on this unique material for a contrasting piece of art. Beginning Sewing Students learn the basics of sewing through simple patterns to create their own fashions. Both machine and freeform sewing are utilized to create finished garments and crafty projects. Intermediate Sewing The next stitch from sewing basics. Students construct projects with more complex sewing patterns using both machine and free form sewing to create projects. To take this class, students must complete the beginner level or have a consultation with the instructor prior to signing up. Star Wars Create personalized Wookie characters that go beyond the fictional universe of Star Wars. Give your Wookie a mustache, a mermaid tail, or long curly hair. A fun class for creative Star Wars fans. Tie Dye T-Shirts A classically fun project that you can take home and wear. Learn different wrapping methods that give interesting dye patterns. Wheel Throwing Sitting at the potter s wheel and forming a spectacular bowl or vase is fun and rewarding. Students learn to wedge clay and throw on the wheel. Pieces are finished with colorful glazes.
7 Page 9 5-Week High School Intensive Classes Mondays and Wednesdays 5:00-7:30pm This high school art intensive is a fun weekly class that experiments with ideas, mediums and tools not offered in regular art programs. Students develop experience necessary for attending college by making two dimensional, three dimensional, and digital art work. Session #1 September 28 - October 28, 2015 HSI $300 Week 1: Live Model Figure Drawing Week 2: Palette Knife Portraits Week 3: Plaster Arm Sculptures Week 4: Print Making: Linoleum Carving & Press Week 5: Photography for a Portfolio Session #2 November 9 - December 16, 2015 HSI $300 Week 1: Live Model Figure Drawing Week 2: Art History Made Modern: Collage Week 3: Clay Sculptures Week 4: Graphic Design Week 5: Photography for a Portfolio Art History Made Modern-Collage Students choose a historical art piece and transform it into a modern interpretation through collage. Clay Sculptures Build, carve, sculpt and transform clay into your own masterpiece while learning various techniques and aesthetic design for sculpture. Graphic Design Whether for the music industry, fashion design, or self promotion, this class focuses on creating a finished poster that includes the student s personal style while learning the elements to create a professional high quality product. The program used for this class is Adobe Photoshop Elements. Live Model Figure Drawing Creative, Interesting, and Interactive! Students learn to draw figures but with a twist by having live models that wear themed outfits such as steam punk, Asian fashion, and more. Palette Knife Portraits Learn to loosen paint strokes with a palette knife for an impressionistic style of portraiture. Plaster Arm Sculptures This class uses the human form to inspire sculptures using plaster and mold making techniques. Print Making - Linoleum Carving & Press Learn to use a printer s press and carve linoleum plates for making multiple images with ink. Photography for a Portfolio To complete the course, students learn the essentials of documenting their artwork with digital photography for a portfolio.
8 Page 13 Arts for Everyone! Opportunities for children & young adults with special needs At the Centers for the Arts Bonita Springs, we value diversity as a unique gift to be embraced. Arts for Everyone is a program specifically designed to help students with special needs. We strive to transform mental and physical challenges into strengths and modes of expression in the studio. Children and young adults of all levels are invited to explore the art making process. This is a supportive environment where the experience is often more important than the finished product. Our goal is to provide a highly individualized learning experience. To achieve this, our class size is capped at seven students to maximize one-on-one teacher-student interaction.
