1 NS Financials Client Platform Guide for Mac Using Safari Incl Citrix Setup As A Local Client This document describes how to access the NS Financials system through Safari on an Apple Mac and outlines the browser settings to check. It also shows you how to set-up Citrix for accessing NS Financials, nvision Reports or the Online Training Tool from a Safari browser on an Apple Mac computer. Important: Citrix needs to be installed on your Mac as Local Client mode. For general NS Financials access, Mac users can use either Safari or Mozilla FireFox as their internet browser. Mac users can now access NS Financials directly, rather than having to go via citrix. As a Mac user, you will also need to connect via Citrix for access to The Online Training Tool (UPK) nvision Reporting (it is also recommended that all nvision Reporting users (Mac or PC) access nvision Reports via Citrix for better performance.) The other exception to this is if you use eprocurement and make roundtrip purchases to vendor sites, then we recommend you access the NS Financials system via Citrix for these. This is because some vendor sites, such as Corporate Express, do not support Mac. So, by accessing it via Citrix, you are accessing the site through Windows and Internet Explorer. Generally speaking, if you re using eprocurement for selecting products or services via Special Request (eg travel) or the UNSW Catalogue, then use Safari as per usual. If you are selecting products or services via a Web or Roundtrip Vendor which doesn t support Mac (you have problems returning from cart) then log back into NS Financials via Citrix to create your Requisition. The other two main differences for Mac users compared to PC users are: Mac users cannot print directly to their local printer from within NS Financials. You need to firstly save the report / file to your local c:\ drive or network drive, and then print it from there. We are still awaiting a fix for this from the software vendor, PeopleSoft. Hot Keys (or keyboard key shortcuts as alternatives for using the mouse) for Mac users are not fully documented. The known hot keys are listed in the Online Training topic PeopleSoft Fundamentals Using Search Criteria Using Hot Keys. Refer here for more information. 3 1.1. Accessing NS Financials Open up Safari as your internet browser. Type in the web address You can Bookmark this page. 1. Select Bookmarks from the Menu bar. 2. Select Add Bookmark. 3. Type in a name such as NS Financials Web. 4. Click Add. (Note the NS Financials sign in page has since changed.) For the following settings, if you are not confident to make these changes yourself, contact your local desktop/lan/network support team for assistance (the IT Service Desk does not support local Mac or PC setup) Safari Security You are in Safari Add the following url to the trusted sites: Safari and Pop-ups Safari can be set to block all pop-ups or none. If you want to block pop-ups but need to use eprocurement and visit vendor sites (those which work with Safari), all we can suggest is that you temporarily allow pop-ups while you create your requisition. 4 1.4. Safari and Cookies You are in Safari Select Safari from the menu bar Select Preferences. Tab to Security. Under Accept cookies. Select Only from sites you navigate to Setting Australian Date Formats If your NS Financials dates appear in US format, ie MM/DD/YYYY (Month Day Year) instead of in the Australian date format ie DD/MM/YYYY (Day Month Year) then you will need to change an additional setting in NS Financials. 1. 5 3. Click on the Regional Settings Personalize Option button 4. Change the Override Value to DDMMYY 5. Click OK 6. Click Return 7. 6 1.6. How To Print or Download Files Set Safari Preferences to Remove Downloaded ica.clients when Safari quits. 1. Select Safari from the menu bar. 2. Select Preferences. 3. Select General. 4. 7 1.7. Set Up Citrix To Use It Via Safari as a Local Client This is the recommended method of opening Citrix applications. Other options such as Java work, but not with Save As for download Connect To Citrix Begin with a Safari session. Enter this web address: The following displays: You can Bookmark this page. 1. Select Bookmarks from the Menu bar. 2. Select Add Bookmark. 3. Type in a names such as NS Financials Citrix 4. Click Add. 8 Set Client Preferences Click on the icon titled Click Here to Customise the User Interface. The Settings page displays. Go to the section labelled Client Preferences. Under Settings, Client Preferences, select "Local Client". In the area circled in red. Click OK. Click on the icon Return to the Application List. The icon circled in green. Download and Install the Citrix Client If you are a first-time user of NS Financials, or you are not confident with this task, please seek assistance form your faculty or department technical support group. You need to be an admin user locally on your Mac. Select the Citrix client download site, circled in green, to install Citrix for the OS X level for the Mac. Do not select the link to Metaframe Presentation Server for Macintosh OS9. (Unless, of course, you are using OS9.) The link takes you to the Citrix web site. 10 Navigate to: Clients Macintosh OS X Click on OS X. The following page displays. Click on Get Software for the Version circled in red. The following window opens. (You may need to find this window by shrinking some windows that overlay it.) Double-click the ICA Client package file and Click Continue at the installer screen. 12 Click on Continue. Agree to the Software License Terms. Select the destination where you want to install the client. Click on the Macintosh HD, but this can vary if you are a more advanced user. Click Continue. NS Financials - Guide for Mac + Safari + Citrix - Local Client V0044 Page 12 of 22

14 You can now access the applications through Citrix. This is described in the following pages Specifying the Citrix Window Size You can vary the size of the window for the Citrix Applications. In your web browser, go to The Citrix Metaframe Presentation Server page displays. Select the icon circled in red. The Settings page displays. Click on Connection Preferences. 15 Select a window size that suits your computer. You may need to sample a few to see which is best for you. (For Macs, 1024 x 768 is often a good size.) Click OK. Click this icon to return. NS Financials - Guide for Mac + Safari + Citrix - Local Client V0044 Page 15 of 22

16 1.10. Start an Application Under Citrix Begin with a Safari session. Enter this web address: The Citrix log in page displays. Click on the application you want to access. There is a download and then the log on window for your application displays and you can log in. PeopleSoft UPK Click on this icon to access the online training tool (UPK). PeopleSoft Web Click on this icon to access the NS Financials system via citrix eg for purchases from some eprocurement roundtrip vendors such as Corporate Express. PeopleSoft nvision Click on this icon to access the nvision Reporting tool. This is the recommended way to run most nvision reports, instead of from directly within NS Financials. 17 1.11. Using nvision Through Citrix Click once on the icon called PeopleSoft nvision. The PeopleSoft Signon page displays. Enter these values: Application Server Name User ID Password GPROD Your own S User ID for logging into NS Financials Your password Saving An nvision Report To Your Apple Mac Whilst in the nvison report: 1. Select File from the Menu Bar for Microsoft Excel. 2. Select Save As 3. The Save As window displays, but with local disk W selected. 4. Go back up one level to My Computer. 5. Double Click drive C$ on Client (V.) This will be your Mac. 6. You see your folders on you Mac. 7. Navigate to where you want to save the report. When you save you may be asked to allow access. Click Yes Copy and Paste From An nvision Report You can select cells from an nvision report and copy them for pasting into an Excel spreadsheet running on your Mac. TIP: Remember to select Edit and Copy from the menu bar of Excel running under Citrix; and not from Edit and copy from the menu bar for Safari. 18 1.12. Create An Icon For Connection to the OLD Citrix Applications The situation is that you have downloaded the client from the Citrix web site and have installed it on the machine. Connection to the new Citrix Servers via the website works OK. Because you still may require access to the other old citrix applications, such as HR reporting etc you would like to create an icon for connection to the Citrix applications. Find the CITRIX ICA client editor application and run it, (see below). This will bring up the screen below for you to configure the connection, un-tick the Use Default box in server location and enter citrix.unsw.edu.au. This means that the default setting remains blank for the web based connection but for this one we will be using the DNS reference. After selecting the Published Application radio button, click the Browse button. NS Financials - Guide for Mac + Safari + Citrix - Local Client V0044 Page 18 of 22

19 This will now bring up a list of published applications from the old NSS system, select NSS-HE as shown below and then save. When you do this the screen below comes up, make sure you are saving it to the desktop and press Save again. You will now have a desktop icon for connecting to the NSS-HE application. You should now be able to run either a connection to the new Citrix Farm for an nvision Report or a connection to the old NSS-HE application. However just as per the old NSS_FIN/NSS_HE you cannot run them at the same time. NS Financials - Guide for Mac + Safari + Citrix - Local Client V0044 Page 19 of 22

Tips For Using Ns Financials Under Mozilla Firefox First Time Use Pop-Up Msg If you're using Mozilla Firefox with Citrix for the first time, you may get a pop-up asking what to use to open this application. Make sure it says open with Citrix ICA Client. Place a check in the box "Do this automatically for files like this from now on." That will save you from being asked each time you start to use Citrix. If you access your shared drives or your hard drives, you will be prompted with a request for access. Click on Allow. The log on window for your application displays and you can log in. 21 Citrix Under Mozilla Firefox May Take Up All The Screen To display the Mac Desktop, press Apple cmd + option + esc The Force Quit Applications window displays. (Don t Force Quit unless you intend to.) You can select the Mac application from the menu of applications displayed. Alternatively, move the mouse cursor past the bottom of the screen and the Mac applications are then displayed. This works on some Macs. 22 1.14. Clearing cache Optional only do if having browser problems If you are experiencing browser cache issues whereby your page is not refreshing correctly or information is getting mixed up and you re getting errors, it may help to clear the cache, cookies, and history. This is not a standard thing to do as part of the initial NS Financials setup. To do this: Click Safari from the menu bar Click Reset Safari NS Financials - Guide for Mac + Safari + Citrix - Local Client V0044 Page 22 of 22
