1 IT Quick Reference Guides Installing Office 365 from Kivuto Solutions Software Guides This guide covers the installation process for Office 365 purchased from Kivuto Solutions (MEEC). Please note that because this is an online service, the instructions are subject to change without notice. Please use these as a guideline only. PURCHASING AND VERIFICATION In the Items section of your order, click on the Instructions. This pops up a window which gives you information about your download. Click Close to close that window. 2 In the Get Your Software in 4 Easy Steps window, first click Download SDM and save it to your hard drive. Once the download completes, click Run to install the Secure Download Manager (SDM). Then, click Download.SDX and save it to your hard drive. Once the download completes, click Open to open the.sdx file in the Secure Download Manager. 3 A browser window opens. Click Get Started. Sign in using your SU address. Faculty and staff, you may need to create a Live account using your SU address prior to logging in. Salisbury University Last Edited: 14 May

4 In the Get Verified Now window, select Get verified through my school. Type Salisbury University in the school selection field until it appears in the drop down below it. Select Salisbury University. Salisbury University Last Edited: 14 May

5 Click Continue. Enter your SU address and click Verify. Salisbury University Last Edited: 14 May

6 If successful, a message appears stating that an activation has been sent to your address. You may also get an error message after the activation screen. At this time, it doesn t seem to affect anything, so you can ignore it. Check your SU for the verification . Salisbury University Last Edited: 14 May

7 Copy and paste the link from your activation into a browser window. Enter your product key from the original receipt and click Get Started. Select your country and language from the drop down menus and click Continue. Salisbury University Last Edited: 14 May

8 Office will display a message that it is setting up your account. You may get a message like the one below. Make note of your product key (it should be the same one you entered). You can otherwise ignore this message. Salisbury University Last Edited: 14 May

10 INSTALLING OFFICE 365 Once you have completed the verification process, your Activation Confirmation will provide you a link to Install Office at Copy and paste the link into a browser window, and log in using your SU address. The My Account page lists the number of installs you have (2) and how many of those installs you have available. The Install link will download the most current version available for your operating system. At the time of this guide, it will download Office 2013 for Windows computers and Office 2011 for Macintosh computers. Salisbury University Last Edited: 14 May

11 INSTALLING OFFICE 365 FOR PC (OFFICE 2013) Choose your version (Office for Windows or Office for Mac) and click Install. The install button will change to Installing When prompted to run or save the download, choose Save and save it to your hard drive. Once the download is complete, choose Run. 12 You may get a pop-up window asking Do you want to allow this program to make changes Click Yes. Office will begin to download and install. An introduction screen appears, click Next. Salisbury University Last Edited: 14 May

13 Choose whether or not you want to send information to Microsoft about how you use Office, and click Accept. You may also get a message asking if you want to log into your Microsoft Office account. If you do, sign in using your SU address. You can always do this later. Click Next to the Meet SkyDrive screen. Salisbury University Last Edited: 14 May

14 Select your background type and click Next. While installing, Office offers you a chance to preview some of the new features. Click Take a look to open a PowerPoint presentation tour of the new Office. To exit the PowerPoint, hit Esc on your keyboard. Otherwise, click No, thanks. Salisbury University Last Edited: 14 May

15 Office finishes installing. You can begin using office while it s finishing installing. You may also get a message from office that it may be unresponsive as it finishes up. Once the installation is complete, you will get a confirmation message. Click All done! Salisbury University Last Edited: 14 May

16 Microsoft Office 365 currently installs Microsoft Office You can find it in your Start menu under All Programs. The install also places the Microsoft Office Upload Center in the system tray. Salisbury University Last Edited: 14 May

17 INSTALL OFFICE 365 FOR MACINTOSH (OFFICE 2011) Choose your version (Office for Windows or Office for Mac) and click Install. The Install button will change to Installing and the download will appear in your Downloads folder in your Dock. Salisbury University Last Edited: 14 May

18 When the download is complete, click on the MicrosoftOffice2011.dmg file to open the Installer disk image. Double-click the Office Installer. The Installer opens. Click Continue. Salisbury University Last Edited: 14 May

19 Click Continue to accept the Software License Agreement. Click Agree. Salisbury University Last Edited: 14 May

20 Click Install. If prompted, enter your admin username and password to allow the installation to continue. Click Install Software. Salisbury University Last Edited: 14 May

22 Drag the Microsoft Office 2011 icon from your desktop to the trash can to dismount the Installer drive image. The apps for Microsoft Office 2011 will appear in your Dock, as shown below. DEACTIVATING AN OFFICE 365 INSTALL You have a limited amount of installs of Microsoft Office 365. Once you ve used all of your installations, you will need to deactivate one before you can install another. On your account page at under PC + Mac Installs, click Deactivate next to the name of the computer where you want to deactivate Office. After you deactivate Office on one computer, you can install it on another PC. Once deactivated, that version of Office will only run in read-only mode, meaning you can view and print documents, but not edit or create new documents.
