2 CINEMA DEFACTO / SHELLAC TOM DERCOURT Producer, Distributor, CEO Paris, France Production and coproduction of national and international feature films since Distribution of 10 films per year since LA SEPTIÈME SALLE Combination of an internet platform and a community of film lovers localized around their theatres. It features two distinct offers : 1. Premiere screenings : movie-goers can attend simultaneously a film premiere in several partner cinemas and take part in a single live debate after the screening, filmed live in one of the cinemas and simulcast with a split screen in all other partner cinemas with a Twitter wall with questions/commentaries. 2. Catch-up screenings : for registered users who can watch recent films they missed when they were released in local partner cinemas, through an on-demand vote system.
3 Why is the area of discussion relevant to the cinema business and what will help move the market on? (1/2) Films consuming through the web The use of the web for selling products increase 20 each year; Compared to internet world, and consumption of films on the web, the theatre brings a social and human experience; Internet can help improve admissions, through digital marketing, crowd ticketing and online booking; Incite web friendly audiences to move to the theatre; Incentive and remunerate good practice of films consumers to improve admissions in the theater. Valorization of the movie theaters Create a new relationship with movie-goers; Take advantage of digital to target promotion of theaters work; Foster independents theaters network by proposing common action as live preview screenings.

(2/2) Valorization of the Communities Communities are identified and share their interest on the web; Identify and remunerate moviegoers with exclusive contents on the web; Digital marketing through SEO can be very cheap and very efficient. Equipment Digital equipment allows to re-think the film schedule programming for the exhibitor Optimize the use of audiences personal equipment (devices)
5 What are the 2 major challenges that face your business in the area of the session discussion? Move the audience from an offer market to an on demand market, and push audiences to crowdticketing, and on line booking. Add value to movie goers, through new experiences both on line and in the movie theaters. Rewarding movie goers with an exclusive and specific access to contents (short films, vod, interviews ) What are the 2 key strengths your company has in this area? We have a network of 60 theaters in France, with the goal of 250 cinemas within 18 months. 7 partners through Europe. As producers and distributors, we know how to produce and editorialize specific contents, linked to the films, to increase PR, and marketing material for theaters. Getting the best independent movies through our network of 40 distributors in France. Having an ondemand platform, allowing ticketing, we can organize events and sell tickets on the most awaited films to create traffic and remunerate movie goers with exclusive contents.
6 Solutions & evolutions Organize original and exclusive events in the movie theaters : multi-broadcasted and participative Lives (Q&A) all over the country. Movie goers in each theater can interact with talents thanks to a designed tweeter-interface on smartphones Enhance the traffic on our website through SEO, API, affiliations, and by offering an e-ticketing solution for all screenings and events of our movie theaters. Develop partnerships (Medias, Financers of the film, Producers, brands etc.) for these live events to increase our movie theater network and to get a larger audience. (Ex. ARTE on a 10 events/year based agreement) Add value for movie goers on our website : live, short films, VOD advantages, goodies, micro-critics thanks to aggregation of sharing with community websites and partners Strengthen the editorialization of our on demand service, by creating categories : L7S Indie / L7S children / L7S Comedy/ L7S Documentaries ) Organization of one shot screenings all over the country for community movies through an ADSL optimized technology, or satellite. Depending to where the demand comes from, on lives, create a VoD live virtual movie theater in case of no cinema offer in the area, reserved to a restricted number of active members.
