4 4 THE SAINSBURY S SCHOOL GAMES The Sainsbury s School Games are designed to build on the magic of London 2012 to enable every school and child to participate in competitive sport, including meaningful opportunities for young people with a disability. Nationally and locally, the Sainsbury's School Games is being delivered through partnerships. The national partnership is made up of: the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), which has overall policy leadership, supported by the Department for Education (DforE) and the Department of Health (DoH); Sport England, which is the Lottery distributor and who are supporting the engagement of Sports Governing Bodies and County Sports Partnerships; The Youth Sport Trust, the landscape lead organisation for school sport, which has been commissioned by Sport England to provide development support to schools, sports clubs and other local partners. Over 128m of Lottery and Government funding is being invested nationally, to support the School Games. This includes: up to 35.5m Lottery funding from Sport England ; 28.4m exchequer funding from the Department of Health and Sport England to fund 450 School Games Organisers (SGOs) and Change4Life Clubs; and 65m exchequer funding from the DOE to release a PE teacher for one day a week in all secondary schools. At a local level, the Sainsbury's School Games is being delivered by schools, clubs, National Governing Bodies (NGBs), county sports partnerships (CSPs) and other local partners. Local Organising Committees (LOCs) have set up, chaired by Head Teachers, to oversee the county festivals. County sports partnerships have an important role to play in helping to stage the festivals. The Games are made up of four levels of activity: competition in schools; between schools; at county/area level; and a national event for the most talented young people in the UK. 5 5 WELCOME FROM LOC CHAIR Dear Colleague, The bar was raised even higher in 2014 for the Gloucestershire School Games so a huge thank you must go to all of the schools, staff, organisers and volunteers who made it happen! Plans are underway for the fourth annual Level 3 School Games events to be held in Gloucestershire. Last academic year saw nearly 4000 students take part in fantastic county sports finals which, I hope you agree, captured the imagination of everyone involved. The Celebration Event held in Gloucester Cathedral was a sight to behold, from trampolines, gymnasts, skateboarding and bmxers in the Nave, to archery and dancers in the Cloisters. The main Level 3 Events, the launch at Wycliffe College, the Spring Games at Cheltenham College, the Watersports at South Cerney; the Key Stage 2 Events and the Secondary School Sports at Hartpury College were all very well delivered in partnership with The Local Organising Committee, Active Gloucestershire, The National Governing Bodies of Sport, our network of School Games Organisers and Community Clubs. All of the events were fantastically supported by our Gloucestershire School Games Makers, a group of students from across the County who were trained and deployed as volunteers, as well as our mascot Old Spot! This year promises to be even better, with County Final competitions starting in October and continuing as standalone finals or multi-sports events right the way through the year until July Primary, Secondary, Special and Independent Schools from across the county will compete in over 30 different sports, held at some of the most iconic sporting venues in Gloucestershire. In each sport young people will be competing to win the gold medal and be crowned Gloucestershire champions. Again, the event also promises to be very high profile with extensive coverage in the local media. This initial communication is being sent to your school to begin to provide information that you will need to take you through the process required to enter the Gloucestershire School Games, undertake your own risk assessments and inform pupils and parents of the requirements for the event. Also, we will be celebrating the cultural aspect of Gloucestershire through the Curriculum. An important part of the Games is also to develop leadership in young people and your SGO will be working with you on how to make this happen. There is important information within this handbook which you may wish to discuss this with your Head of Physical Education or Teacher in charge of Sport and other senior colleagues. We hope you find this information useful and look forward to a great event and a fantastic year of sport. 6 6 SCHOOL S CHECKLIST The following can be used as a checklist for your school to guide through the process of planning your attendance at the event, wherever you are involved. You may need additional information to enable you to complete the list, and your own event risk assessment. This will be sent to your school as soon as final details are known. For now we hope you will find this helpful in your planning. Action/preparation. Completed Additional information required The Head Teacher and Governors have been informed of the events and have provided permission for your school to attend and take part. Parents have received information about the events, times and venues etc. As some of the events are at weekends, parents need to be aware that their child may be required to attend. Nearer the time consent needs to be sought from parents. Some schools may seek consent for school activities on a termly or annual basis. If this is the case, only additional information needs to be sent to parents e.g. that their child may be required on a weekend day. Schools will be responsible for acquiring consent. The event organiser will assume that this has been carried out and will not request any further/copies of consent forms. Schools are clear on exactly which age groups, ability, gender and number of pupils are eligible for the event. Schools are clear about the date, venue and times they are required to attend. All information will be sent to the school team manager. Any questions regarding this should be ed to Active Gloucestershire. Schools will be responsible for transport arrangements to and from the venue. This may be in minibuses, coaches, private cars etc. Normal school transporting procedures should be followed. Any hired transport should be through a reputable company. Information regarding parking arrangements, distance from the facility etc will be provided to schools following the receipt of the venue risk assessments, schools will then be able to inform parents if necessary, with regard to drop off/meeting points etc. Schools need to be clear about check in/registration procedures. See details in the games handbook. Schools should check if the sports event a team has selected to participate in requires any specific experience/training prior to the competition. This is for the safety and enjoyment of all participants. In some cases NGB or local clubs are providing sessions for schools to gain experience or increase skills in the run up to an event. Schools need to make pupils aware of refreshment requirements and the importance of taking along fluids. Some schools may be requested to bring along additional equipment. Where this is the case, it is the responsibility of the school to inspect and agree on handover, that the condition of the equipment is safe. Once agreed with the user, and handed over, the deliverer of that activity is responsible for checking that the equipment remains safe to use. Schools should ensure that participating pupils have any personal protective equipment the event might require, and the correct kit and footwear. They should also be clear about removing items of jewellery and other personal effects and safekeeping of personal items.

7 Contingency arrangements will be communicated to schools prior to the event, where applicable e.g. wet weather plan for outdoor events. The school is responsible for supervision of pupils at all times, including at weekend events (it is a school initiated activity). Schools must decide (in their information to parents) how and when that supervision is transferred to parents/carers. Supervision is required both when pupils are active and nonactive. Schools must clearly explain the role of the school staff present. Where parent-helpers and other non-qualified staff are being used, the school must satisfy themselves that the individuals are competent to carry out the roles being asked of them. All helpers should be given a copy of the relevant risk assessment for the event(s). All schools have been sent the latest version of the School Games Code of Conduct. School staff are requested to ensure that all participants, staff and parents are fully aware of this code, and agree to abide by it at all times. Schools should have with them a copy of emergency contacts for their participating pupils. For each event entered a school will be required to have a nominated team manager. Where this team manager is not a qualified teacher, their competency must be assessed and approved by the school s Head Teacher. The team manager is responsible for conduct and safeguarding of their pupils. Schools will be informed of first aid arrangements at the events. Where schools have qualified first aiders with their group, they may wish to carry out any minor treatments. All school groups are required to bring a basic first aid kit with them. Any specific medical needs of pupils taking part should be highlighted by the school to the organiser and the deliverer of the activity, as far in advance as possible. Schools are responsible for gathering all medical information, much of which they will already have available. Where competitors are treated by the First-Aid services, the adult accompanying the child should request a copy of the treatment form completed by the First-Aider. This should be handed to their school. Schools will be required to inform the organisers/deliverers of any pupils they do not wish to be photographed. This is information that the school will/should already hold. Organisers will not request this information for all pupils, but will attempt to protect pupils from being photographed if they are requested to do so. Unfortunately given the nature of the event, absolute guarantees cannot be provided by the organiser that individual pupils will be protected from being photographed. In the main, photographs are of groups and action shots, and individuals would not be highlighted or named without permission. Schools will receive information about how event staff can be recognised, and assurances that staff, have been suitably checked according to safeguarding legislation. Sound safeguarding procedures are in place at the events, and any concerns should be taken up with the safeguarding lead appointed at each event. Schools will be informed of changing and toilet provision and facilities. Any specific needs should be discussed with the organiser in advance of the day of the event. Schools may wish to take the opportunity to remind parents that pupils are not covered by insurance for personal injury which arises through their participation. In the case of faulty equipment or facility issues, the organisers and/or venue insurance takes responsibility, but pupil s personal injury insurance needs to be taken out by parents/carers if required, as is the case for injury whilst at school. 7

9 9 THE SPORTS... This Handbook provides the Level 3 (County) Finals information which we hope you find useful. It includes the date, venue, format, rules and qualification pathways for The Gloucestershire School Games. Please do be aware that all of the competitions featured have certain qualification routes, in some cases from Level 1 (Intra-School), through to Level 2 (Inter-School/District). Others may be open events which require schools/individuals to register interest with your School Games Organiser. If any sports appeal to you or your school please find out more about the entry requirements from your District s SGO (see table below for contact details). This year there are even more opportunities for young people to compete for their school at the Level 3 Finals with additional sports competitions in the programme, higher numbers of teams able to qualify and a variety of events for all ages. The Gloucestershire School Games Calendar has developed into an extensive yearlong programme of high quality, inclusive sports competitions for all Primary, Secondary and Special Schools within the County. The Level 3 Finals are split into Stand-Alone Finals or Multi-Sports Finals. Stand-Alone finals will consist of a single sports final taking place at one venue on one day. Multi-Sports Finals will be a number of sports finals taking place at one venue, using a variety of their facilities, creating an exciting Olympic/Paralympic event feel. These Multi-sports Finals will take place as the School Games Media Launch, the Spring Games and the Summer Games. The School Games Media Launch on Wednesday 11 th February 2015 at Cheltenham College. The Spring Games Festival on Wednesday 25 th March 2015 is also at Cheltenham College and the Summer Games which will be a number of Multi Sports Finals from Sunday 7 th June 2015 (Athletics) at the Prince of Wales Stadium, Friday 12 th June (Primary Finals) and Saturday 13 th June 2015 (Secondary Finals) at Hartpury College, followed by a Watersports Festival at South Cerney Outdoor on Tuesday 30 th June Tennis Finals will be on Wednesday 1 st July 2015 at Oxstalls Sports Park. All of these events will culminate in a Celebration Event, an evening for athletes, teachers, parents and organisers at Gloucester Cathedral on Friday 3 rd July The Local Organising Committee and School Games Organisers (details below) are passionate about providing accessible and appropriate competition for all, celebrating the highest level of sporting talent in Gloucestershire and we believe that this is reflected within the sports chosen. Please promote the various competitions around your school as some alternative sports may not be part of your School Curriculum but could be a fantastic opportunity for some of your students. 13 13 THE VOLUNTEERS The Gloucestershire School Games would not happen without the fantastic workforce of young leaders, club volunteers, teachers, parents and staff. Active Gloucestershire uses funding from the Department for Education to deliver the nationally recognised Gloucestershire School Games Maker Programme; this countywide leadership and volunteering programme supports the delivery of The Gloucestershire School Games at Levels 1-3, providing young volunteers with training, personal development opportunities, mentoring and rewards for the time they give to the programme. It is a fantastic opportunity for young people and adults aged 14 years+ from any school, sixth form, college, university or community setting in Gloucestershire to be trained and deployed into a variety of roles across a number of School Games Events within their local environment including; - Media Team - Event Management - Competition Organiser - Officiating - Team Manager This academic year we aim to build on the programme further by supporting the 150 young volunteers into local community volunteering, enhancing their employability skills and experiences. Part of their task list (see below) also involves acting as ambassadors within their own school/college/university, working with SGOs to support Level 2 events as well as promoting the School Games amongst peers and younger students, A number of School Games Makers will also have the opportunity to be nominated for the Talent Inspiration Programme, the pinnacle of the National Level 4 School Games Programme in Manchester in September. 14 14 THE CODE OF CONDUCT The School Games Local Organising Committee, supported by Active Gloucestershire, encourages athletes, event organisers, team managers, officials and spectators to follow the advice set out in this document. This Code of Conduct aims to ensure that young people (as athletes, officials or coaches) have the opportunity to develop, learn and enjoy their experience of competition within a positive and safe environment. At all Level 2 and 3 School Games events, the document below will be given to teams; it will be also available to print. Team Managers are expected to familiarise themselves with the Code of Conduct, sharing the ethos and spirit of the games with students and any spectators or staff that may be with the team. In addition to this, the 2015 Gloucestershire School Games will embed the School Games Values into all of the events. This will be done in 3 ways; 1. The event welcome to include information on the code of conduct, highlighting the School Games Values; 2. Presence of the winning Design a Flag entries to be prominent at all venues; 3. Young volunteers and Sporting Champions will award Values Wristbands and Certificates to athletes who demonstrate and showcase the School Games Values during the competitions. 15 THE CURRICULUM COMPETITIONS 15 What are The Gloucestershire School Games Curriculum Competitions? The Gloucestershire School Games Curriculum Competitions are designed to celebrate the skills and abilities of all young people in our schools through a variety of curriculum areas, utilising the power of sport to stimulate and engage. We are encouraging school staff to use the categories of competitions to link PE and Sport with other subject areas, building on skills such as numeracy and literacy outside of the classroom. It is also a fantastic way to engage young people who may not be part of a traditional sports team to become involved with the Games, representing the school in the curricular competitions with a chance to win a medal to be added to The School Games Medal Table. We encourage schools and school staff to promote these competitions in and around the school; schools could use these as a whole class activity in a lesson, targeting gifted and talented children or opened out to the whole school as a Level 1 competition. What s in it for them? There are 5 competitions during the academic year (Design a Flag, Team Debating, Twitter Pic, Sports Reporter and School Games Poem). The categories of competition are open to all Primary and Secondary age children from any school within Gloucestershire. There will be a winner chosen for each competition, they will be awarded an individual prize and school games medal. The top 3 entries in each competition will be part of the School Games Celebration Event at Gloucester Cathedral on Friday 3 rd July, with an invitation for the young person and their parent/carer. Schools will also be rewarded for their engagement with these competitions such as receiving a visit from Old Spot, The Gloucestershire School Games Mascot. Is this competition just in Gloucestershire? Each year the National School Games Programme has a range of cross-curricular competitions for those schools that have registered on the School Games Website. Should any school have already submitted entries to these competitions then they may, if appropriate, re-submit any of these as part of their Gloucestershire School Games Curriculum Competition entries. 18 18 SCHOOL GAMES DEBATING PROGRAMME As part of the cultural programme supporting the Sainsbury s School Games, the Youth Sport Trust is working closely with the School Games Organisers and Active Gloucestershire to pilot a sport-themed debating programme for Year 9 and 10 students in Secondary schools. This programme will coincide with the delivery of the Gloucestershire Spring School Games this year. What is the pilot looking to achieve? To engage and inform secondary school staff, supporting the development of this activity in schools which will culminate in a debating showcase competition at the Gloucestershire Spring Games Event (Level 3) at Cheltenham College on Wednesday 25th March As a pilot, we are looking to feedback the experiences from our schools and Active Gloucestershire, along with any resources that we develop which will be used to support a handbook for a wider roll out of the School Games Debating Programme later in the year across the country. What is the proposed format for the School Games Debating Competition? Four teams led by a school mentor/teacher will prepare a short format debate (modelled on the design used by Debating Matters.) Each debate is completed within an hour. Schools will receive the topics prior to the event, giving them time to create their argument. The competition itself will see each team field their argument, followed by questions from the audience and panel of judges. Following this the teams will then have time to respond to those questions, finishing with a summary. How will you determine the winning side? Teams will be judged against a range of criteria, designed to demonstrate their topic knowledge, ability to develop a convincing motion and reasoned response, depth of thinking, presentation and ability to communicate effectively (under pressure). Within the format of the debate, judgments will be formed through; Quality of proposal/reply delivery (content and presentation) Response to challenge (from opposing team, floor/audience, judging panel) Questions provide from the floor * What topics will be debated? Anything sport themed (or context) could be used as a motion for the debating programme. The use of sporting context has been really effective in engaging a wider range of young people into debating. There is often no right or wrong answer and as such, is perceived as a relatively low risk/threat subject which is a great way to engage all students. We would encourage schools to work with their Year 9 and 10 students to come up with debating topics- these will be part of a discussion at the staff twilight workshop (16 th December). Some examples developed by other pilot schools include: Primary schools should have a Physical Activity Hour timetabled every day. There should be a salary cap of 1,000,000 a year for professional sports people. Serious infringements of sports rules should be punished by lifetime bans. 19 19 THE CELEBRATION CEREMONY The Gloucestershire School Games Local Organising Committee, School Games Organisers and Active Gloucestershire are entering the fourth year of the Games and without a doubt, the most iconic part of the programme, which has received national recognition from other county sports partnerships and sports organisations is the Gloucestershire School Games Celebration Ceremony. This event will be held: At Gloucester Cathedral On Friday 3 rd July 2015 From 6.30pm-8.00pm For Athletes, parents, volunteers, spectators, teachers, team managers, organisers and anyone else who has been involved in the local delivery of the games! The evening is filled with outstanding performances from local young people in gymnastics, trampolining, dance, music and art as well as showcase sports such as archery, fencing, martial arts and BMXing, all within the breathtaking grounds of the Cathedral It s an event not to be missed! Tickets Tickets are given to any athlete who wins a School Games Gold, Silver or Bronze Medal at a Level 3 Event. Athletes receive a ticket for themselves plus one adult. Additional guests are welcome to attend. Tickets will be available to purchase from Monday 2 nd March Performances If your school has a particular group or individual who would like to perform at the Celebration Ceremony, in a fantastic backdrop with a guest list of around 700 people from across Gloucestershire, please get in touch. We are looking for talented young people who may be part of: choirs, orchestras, dance groups, performing arts groups or anything a bit different and innovative that celebrates sporting culture in Gloucestershire. 20 20 SAFEGUARDING PROCEDURES At all stages in the planning of the Gloucestershire School Games, safeguarding assessments are taken very seriously. All staff and volunteers who take apart in the Games will have received suitable and appropriate safeguarding training and, in accordance with legislation, will have satisfied disclosure and barring requirements. Active Gloucestershire have provided simple procedures to be followed at School Games events. These are provided to and understood by staff and volunteers. Schools should also be aware of these procedures and work with the organisers to ensure that participants feel safe at all times. CODE OF CONDUCT All schools are issued with a code of conduct to share with parents and participants Any person not complying with the code of conduct will be asked to do so Continued failure to comply, having been asked, will lead to the person being asked to leave the site* DISCLOSURES TO A VOLUNTEER/STAFF MEMBER Participant discloses concerns to a volunteer about another participant, or another adult Volunteer listens to child and reports concern to participant s teacher or adult in charge Information is passed on to event Safeguarding Lead * Where the person being asked to leave the site is a teacher or other person who has responsibility for a group of children, the whole group may then be required to leave if appropriate supervision arrangements cannot be made. MISSING OR LOST PARTICIPANT PROCEDURE AT LARGE SITE EVENTS Participant discloses concerns to a volunteer or teacher Volunteer or teacher listens to child and reports concern to event Safeguarding Lead Safeguarding Lead to discuss with teacher where appropriate, or take further action as per policy. Where Games take place at large sites, a safe point will be identified on the site. Any participant who is lost or separated from their group should head for the safe point. Staff will be made available at the safe point to help the lost participant re-unite with their adult or group. As above, as soon as a participant is thought to be missing, details should be made known to staff at the safe point. Event staff will be alerted through agreed communication, and will respond to the call regarding a missing participant. Having collected the details they will search pre-allocated areas of the site.

21 21 MONDAY 6 TH OCTOBER 2014 SIXTH FORM & FE SOFTBALL Baseball Softball UK (BSUK) are supporting Active Gloucestershire with the running of the Level 3 School Games Sixth Form & FE Softball Competition. Schools must compete with a team of 10, where at least 5 players on field at any time must be girls. Teams may have a maximum squad size of 12 with players swapping in for a whole game. All players (boys and girls) must be in Year 12 and/or 13 or at College or Further Education establishment in Gloucestershire. Where necessary (i.e. single sex schools or multiple-campus) teams can combine to compete as one team; they must be from the same institution or district. Teams do not have to have a huge amount of experience or knowledge to enter this competition; the event will also include a coaching session delivered by BSUK on the day, before the tournament, which is open to teams and school/college/fe staff. This competition is an open entry event, no Level 2 qualification is required. The Level 3 Finals will take place at Marling School, Cainscross Road, Stroud, GL5 4HE. There will be a BSUK coaching session for all teams, followed by a round robin tournament. Games will one innings (each team bats once). Teams will be split into 2 pools and all play each other (depending on number or teams entered). Top 2 in each pool will play a semi-final. The winners from this will play in a Final and runners up compete for 3 rd /4 th playoff. Medals: There will be a medals ceremony at the end of the day, following the final game. Medals are awarded for 1 st = Gold, 2 nd = Silver, 3 rd = Bronze. Medals will be added to each School s total on the Gloucestershire School Games Medals Table. 22 22 TUESDAY 13 TH JANUARY 2015 SECONDARY TABLE TENNIS Active Gloucestershire will be leading the delivery of the Level 3 School Games Table Tennis Competitions, with support at a county level from Table Tennis England. Players must be in teams of 4 (boys) and 2 (girls) in the age groups: U12- Year 7 U15- Year 8, 9, 10. Level 2 Finals: There will be District Leagues and/or Tournaments prior to the Level 3 Finals; these will be led by SGOs based in each district. The top team from each Level 2 competition will qualify for the Level 3 Finals There will be a maximum of 5 teams in each of the finals (U12 Boys, U12 Girls, U15 Boys, and U15 Girls). The Level 3 competition will be held at YMCA Sportshall, Arle Road, Cheltenham, GL51 8LE Players will be ranked (Boys 1, 2, 3 & 4 and Girls 1 & 2) and players will play individual matches against their opposing seed and one other (e.g. 1 vs 1, 1 vs 2 and 3 vs 3, 3 vs 4). A match result will consist of these combined results. One point will be awarded for each game won by a school. A total of 8 (boys) and 4 (girls) points can be won each match. Final positions will be determined by the number of points won. Medals: There will be a medals ceremony following the Level 3 Secondary Table Tennis Finals. Medals will be awarded for 1 st = Gold, 2 nd = Silver, 3 rd = Bronze teams. 4 th placed teams will receive a Finalist Certificate. School PE Departments and School Games Organisers will facilitate and run the Level 2 District Basketball Competitions. Age: U13 Boys, U14 Boys & Girls, U15 Boys & Girls, U16 Boys & Girls, U19 Boys & Girls. Squad: 5 to 12 players, recommendation of a minimum of 8. For the U13 to U16 age groups there will be a Level 2 league/tournament within each District, the winning Boys and Girls Teams from each then qualify for the Level 3 School Games Finals. The U19 age group and U15 Girls group is run via a Countywide League, the top teams coming together for a County Final. The competition will normally involve a round-robin schedule of games with points awarded. Medals: There will be a medals ceremony following each of the Level 3 Finals. Medals are awarded for 1 st = Gold, 2 nd = Silver, 3 rd = Bronze. Medals will be added to each School s total on the Gloucestershire School Games Medals Table. The programme focuses on fitness and multi-skill development providing a grounding for all sports. Sportshall Athletics Associates are supporting Active Gloucestershire with the running of the Level 3 School Games Sportshall Athletics Finals. School Games Organisers will facilitate and run the Level 2 Cluster and/or District Competitions. Age: Year 4, 5 & 6 (Boys & Girls) Squad: Small Schools (min 6 Boys & 6 Girls max 8 Boys & 8 Girls) Large Schools (min 9 Boys & 9 Girls max 15 Boys &15 Girls) There will be a number of Cluster and District Competitions happening around Gloucestershire for Small and Large Schools to enter. There will be one Small School and one Large School per District that will qualify for the Level 3 Finals. The competition will be run in the double Sportshall at Cheltenham College, Thirlestaine Road, Cheltenham, GL53 7AB. Boys compete against boys and girls against girls in a number of track and/or field events. Their performances are ranked and points assigned to provide an overall school score (in both Small and Large School Finals). 25 25 WEDNESDAY 11 TH FEBRUARY 2015 PROJECTABILITY BOCCIA Boccia Boccia is a Paralympic sport for athletes with disabilities that have a major impact on motor skills. Boccia is a target ball sport belonging to the same family as petanque and bowls. As part of the Projectability School Games Competition, Boccia is open to any young person with a special educational need or disability who attends either a Special or mainstream School within the County. The National Star College will be supporting Active Gloucestershire with the running of the Level 3 School Games Projectability Boccia Finals. Boccia England will be present on the day as well. School Games Organisers and School staff will facilitate and run the Level 2 District Competitions as a tournament or league. This competition is for students in Year 7-11; players must have a special educational need or disability (SEND). Squads are made up of a maximum of 6 players, with 3 players competing at a time. Teams should be mixed but there is no set number of boys and girls in a team. There will be a parallel competition running at the same time for both Special School teams and teams from Mainstream Schools. There will be District Leagues and/or Tournaments prior to the Level 3 Finals; these will be led by SGOs and/or School staff from each SGO area. The top Special School team and the top Mainstream School team from each Level 2 competition will qualify for the Level 3 Finals. All teams will compete at the Level 2 event together, with the top team from each category going through to the Level 3 Final. There will be a maximum of 5 teams in each of the finals. The competition will take place in the squash courts at Cheltenham College, Thirlestaine Road, Cheltenham, GL53 7AB. It will be a round robin format where all teams will play each other in their pool. The top 3 placed teams at the end of the competition will be ranked 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd in each competition. Medals: There will be a medals ceremony following the Level 3 Projectability Boccia Finals. Medals are awarded for 1 st = Gold, 2 nd = Silver, 3 rd = Bronze. Badminton England and Badminton Gloucestershire are supporting Active Gloucestershire with the running of the Level 3 School Games Badminton Finals. School Games Organisers and School staff will facilitate and run the Level 2 District Competitions as a tournament or league. Age/Gender: KS3 Boys (Year 7, 8 & 9) KS3 Girls (Year 7, 8 & 9) KS4 Boys (Year 10 & 11) KS4 Girls (Year 10 & 11) Teams: There can be between 4 and 5 players, with 4 taking part in each match (this is in case of injury) There will be District Leagues and/or Tournaments prior to the Level 3 Finals; these will be led by Schools and/or SGOs. The winning team for each competition category (see ) will qualify through to the Level 3 Finals so there will be 5 teams in each final. The competition will be run in the double Sportshall at Leisure@ Cheltenham, Tommy Taylors Lane, Cheltenham, GL50 4RN. Each match is part of a round robin with four team members playing in one match. Each match will consist of 5 games: 2 x singles and 3 x doubles with each player playing 2 games. The winning team is decided on most matches won (see Center Parcs competition handbook for full details). Medals: There will be a medals ceremony following the Level 3 Badminton Competition.
