1 Thought Leadership Track About the Presenters Chris Burgess Consultant, Business of Law Chris is a Consultant with LexisNexis Redwood Analytics Division. He has worked with many firms to develop and improve their law firm management and Business Intelligence practices. He is also a lead consultant on business development and benchmarking in the legal environment. Chris holds degrees from both the University of Richmond and Virginia Commonwealth University. Brian Glauser Business Development Manager, Redwood Analytics Since joining the Redwood team more than nine years ago, Brian has enjoyed numerous client facing roles and working with firms to explain the benefits of utilizing Business Intelligence tools. He has coached firms on managing performance more effectively, and has served as a consultant on the tactical and strategic steps to take that result in successful implementations. Brian holds an MBA from the College of William and Mary, and bachelor s degree in Economics from the University of Virginia. Russ Haskin Director of Consulting and Services, Redwood Analytics Russ has been a trusted advisor to more than 200 law firms across the globe from small practices to several members of the Am Law 10. He leads a team that consults with firm leadership on business of law topics that include process improvement, business analysis, and Redwood tools and methodology. In addition, Russ plays a key role in designing and implementing training and consulting programs. Russ is a recognized expert as well as a featured presenter, panelist and moderator on the subjects of matter management, alternative fee arrangements and profitability consulting. His research on legal management topics has been published by multiple journals, and Russ is frequently interviewed by authors and legal journalists alike. Prior to joining Redwood, Russ worked for more than seven years in Research and Project Analysis at two Fortune 500 companies. 2 James Paterson Senior Director of Product Line Management James responsibilities span software portfolios and product development teams. His contributions focused on mobile initiatives have equipped legal professionals with new ways of staying connected and managing practices from any location. He joined LexisNexis in 2008, bringing more than 12 years of experience in management consulting, business development and product line management gained through both international start ups and Fortune 500 companies. James holds an MBA from The Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, and a B.S. degree in Retail Management from Loughborough University of Technology in the United Kingdom. Kris Satkunas Director of Analytic Consulting Kris leads the LexisNexis Corporate Counsel Solutions team s efforts to advise corporate legal department managers on improving operations with data driven decisions. Kris is an expert in managing the business of law and in data mining. Areas of expertise include matter pricing and staffing, partner compensation, practice area metrics and scorecards. Prior to joining the Corporate Counsel Solutions team, Kris honed her legal industry knowledge by advising and consulting with leaders in large law firms for over 10 years. Most recently she led unbiased data based research efforts as Director of LexisNexis Redwood Think Tank. From 2000 to 2005, Kris managed Redwood s consulting efforts as director of its Analytic Services group. She has authored numerous articles and speaks regularly at legal industry conferences and events. Derek Schutz Director of Programs, Business of Law Derek Schutz is the Director of Programs with Redwood Analytics/LexisNexis. He spends most of his time helping clients better understand their firm's operations and profitability through the use of Business Intelligence and developing solutions to improve their performance. Prior to joining Redwood, Derek worked as a Financial Analyst in the construction industry and as a Professional Hockey Player. Derek holds a B.S. in Business Administration/Finance from Virginia Commonwealth University. Brian Taaffe Brian has worked with more than 100 domestic and international law firms to improve their business practices, measure profitability, create business development plans and refine long term strategy. In 2010, Brian moved to London to support the company s international client base helping to expand the consulting service offerings as Redwood s global growth continues. Over the last few years, his role has evolved into more of a Solution Consultant/Product Specialist supporting sales, marketing and project management for the Redwood International team. He holds a degree in Economics, with a concentration in Finance, from the University of Virginia. Page 2

3 Product Leadership Track Stuart Allen Product Manager, Redwood Analytics Stuart (Stu) is the Product Manager of Business Intelligence, Planning and LexisNexis Client Analysis for Redwood Analytics. Since joining the Redwood team in 2004, Stu has worked with more than 100 law firms of all sizes to address the areas of testing, Help Desk support, development, training, project management and custom project deployment. Those activities have extended to developing custom tailored solutions that go beyond what Redwood software typically delivers for many firms in the Am Law 100. Utilizing this extensive background, he now focuses on aligning the work of the development team with market and customer needs as a fundamental part of the Redwood product suite evolution. Laurie Lieb Director, Law Firm Services Group, PricewaterhouseCoopers Laurie is a Director in the PricewaterhouseCoopers New York Private Company Services (PCS) practice and a member of the National Law Firm Services Team. Laurie leads the firm s Law Firm Survey practice from Phoenix, AZ. Since joining the PwC Law Firm Survey group in 1991, her responsibilities have spanned across all aspects of Survey development and deployment. Laurie works closely with the law firm consulting practice of PwC to redesign existing law firm surveys and develop smaller, focused surveying tools designed to provide law firm management with the information necessary to monitor and improve operations and profitability. In addition to her survey management role, Laurie provides data analysis and review for law firm client engagements. Laurie holds a mathematics degree from the University of New York at Buffalo. 4 Audrey Mungal Director, Product Management, Redwood Analytics Although Audrey is new to her product management leadership position with the Redwood Analytics team, she brings years of experience to the role in software applications and detailed awareness of the issues impacting the legal market. Since joining LexisNexis in 2006, she has applied her skills toward software solutions focused on law firm practice management, integrated matter management and billing applications, the integration of content and legal workflows, and deploying Software as a Service. Prior to joining LexisNexis, she held a variety of product management and strategic planning roles for companies marketing content and software applications to Fortune 500 businesses, AmLaw 100 firms, and other organizations on a global basis. Audrey holds an MPA in Data Management and an MBA in Innovation Management from North Carolina State University. Ron Paquette Sr. Financial Analyst, Holland & Knight As a Sr. Financial Analyst with Holland & Knight, Ron is responsible for the Reporting & Analytics tools and products for an Am Law 100 (51) firm (including Redwood). He is the primary business liaison to Holland & Knight's Litigation Section, regularly meeting with firm leadership to aid in data comprehension and strategy development. Recently, he was asked to serve the firm as Pricing Manager, providing approvals and creative solutions to client and attorney alternative fee arrangement needs. Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Ron was the lead Analyst with the Redwood Think Tank at LexisNexis, coordinating research and analytics with a small group of results focused firms. In this capacity, he was a contributor to industry publications and conferences. He also spent a number of years with a Fortune 200 Financial Services firm, providing analytic support to marketing, operations and IT. Ron holds a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Virginia. 6 Daniel Ronesi As a Senior Consultant for Business of Law Services at the Redwood Analytics Division of LexisNexis, Daniel has worked with over 100 law firms across the globe ranging from small and mid size firms to several within the Am Law 50. With a focus on the business of law and law firm management, he consults with firm leadership on Redwood solutions and methodology, business analysis, and process improvement with the goal of helping firms improve matter management, inventory turnover and profitability. Michelle St. Pierre Michelle is a Senior Consultant with LexisNexis for the Redwood Analytics team. Michelle is a training professional with 13 years of curriculum development experience and has expertise in the field of distance learning. Although she has focused primarily on Redwood Analytics capabilities for most of her career with the company, she has spent the past several years working with law firms to help them achieve their business goals using a variety of LexisNexis software products. Michelle holds a B.S. in Economics with a minor in Finance from Villanova University. Michelle is also certified as a Synchronous Learning Expert. Rudolph Vincent Consultant/Senior Instructor, Redwood Analytics Since joining the company almost seven years ago, Rudolph has worked with many of the Am Law 100 firms and has focused his efforts on creating solutions for clients through education, consulting and support. Prior to joining LexisNexis, he worked in a similar capacity for The Wall Street Journal. Rudolph holds a BA in Economics from the University of Virginia, with additional course work completed at The University of Pennsylvania. Rudolph also has been certified by Microsoft as an MCSE/MCT.
