1 Session 1 Speaker Michelle Troseth is the Chief Professional Practice Officer of Elsevier Clinical Solutions. She has over 25 years of experience in co-designing and implementing evidence-based practice and technology infrastructures to support patientcentered care and interprofessional integration at the point of care across hundreds of healthcare settings. Michelle is currently co-chair of the HIMSS TIGER Steering Committee (which stands for: Technology Informatics Guiding Education Reform); she served as the TIGER Summit Program Chair, and co-led a national collaborative on Usability and Clinical Application Design. She is also the Chair of the American Academy of Nursing s Informatics & Technology Expert Panel. Michelle is also on the President-Elect for the National Academies of Practice (NAP) whose mission is to promote excellence in practice of healthcare professionals and quality healthcare for all through interprofessional collaboration in service delivery, research, education and public policy advocacy. Michelle has authored several chapters/articles and speaks on professional practice, evidence-based practice, technology and cultural transformation. Session 2 Facilitator / Speaker Marianela Nelita Zytkowski, DNP, MS, BSN, RN-BC, NEA-BC, FHIMSS is the Associate Chief Nursing Officer for the Office of Nursing Informatics for the Cleveland Clinic Health System. Nelita has been a nurse at The Cleveland Clinic since Her clinical nursing background is in intensive care, preoperative and recovery room nursing. Much of Nelita s current work is focused on the adoption and the integration of clinical technology solutions for caregivers and patients at the bedside. Nelita has recently focused on innovation with nursing staff to address the impact of technology on: healthcare reform, wireless device solutions, mobile computing, electronic documentation, data mining, system design & analytics, distance learning, project management and functional unit design. A nationally recognized leader in nursing informatics, Nelita serves on several topranked nursing informatics committees and as an adjunct professor at several local Universities. She has also authored and published journal articles, research studies and book chapters on various nursing informatics topics. Nelita received her Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from Case Western Reserve University, where she studied the impact of electronic nursing documentation on the patient experience. She also completed her Master s degree in Nursing Informatics from the University of Maryland, and a Bachelor s degree in Nursing from Case Western Reserve University. Additionally, she maintains dual board certifications through the American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC) in Nursing Informatics and as an Advanced Nursing Executive. 2 Session 2 Speakers / Panelists: Pamela Baker, MSN, MBA, RN, PCNS-BC is a pediatric nurse who has worked in acute care pediatrics for over 30 years. She is the Chief Nursing Information Officer for Akron Children s Hospital for the past 2 years. She has been involved in electronic documentation and healthcare technology planning and implementation in the acute care setting for many years. As a life-long learner, she completed her BSN from the University of Akron in 1982, MSN from Kent State University in 2001, as well as an MBA from Kent State University in Christin Eland, ADN, RN, is a registered nurse with over ten years of experience in the acute care and community settings, working with adults and pediatric patients. Christin has worked at Akron Children s Hospital for nine years and has spent the past three years as the inpatient instructional designer on the Epic team. Christin has been involved with many committees related to improving the EMR related to nursing workflows. Jill Evans, RN, MSN, is the Manager of Clinical Informatics at MetroHealth. She has over 19 years experience in healthcare with a clinical background in emergency department, endoscopy and inpatient nursing. She has 3 years experience in the informatics field, managing and directing major EHR implementations and projects, such as BCMA, dual sign for medications, blood administration module, breast milk scanning and HIMSS Stage 7. She works closely with the Quality & Safety, Regulatory and Legal/Risk/Compliance departments with respect to system design to support operational initiatives. Danielle Dick, RN is the Program Manager for Nursing Informatics at Cleveland Clinic. She represents Nursing Informatics on a collaborative team to trial the use of applications on hand-held devices. She is responsible for work flow analysis and data collection to measure outcomes, as well as providing education and support to PCNA staff. In her role as a Nurse Informatist, she has had many responsibilities including clinical instructor, project manager and program manager. Laura Drobnich Sulak, RN, BSN, MS is the Nursing Informatics Liaison for the Hillcrest Hospital at Cleveland Clinic. She works with the Cleveland Clinic Enterprise project team to implement the trial of the IRIS application on the iphone for staff utilization. 3 Session 3 Speakers John DiMaggio is a national expert in healthcare information technology privacy and security compliance. He is the co-founder and CEO of Blue Orange Compliance, a firm dedicated to helping health care providers navigate the required HIPAA and HITECH Privacy and Security. John is a recognized speaker on the subject to a variety of organizations including State Bar Associations, regional contingency planning organizations and several national healthcare organizations and associations. John s extensive experience includes Chief Information Officer with NCS Healthcare and Omnicare; senior operations roles with NeighborCare, and general consulting to the industry. John began his career as a key expert in Price Waterhouse s Advanced Technologies Group and served on several national and international standards organizations including the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the International Standards Organization (ISO). John is the named inventor for multiple healthcare web and operational patents. He holds an MBA in Finance from Katz Graduate School of Business and a BS in Computer Science from the University of Pittsburgh. Vicki Bokar, RN, is the Senior Director of Corporate Compliance for the Cleveland Clinic Health System, responsible for the organization s extensive compliance programs and activities, including the Privacy Program. Ms. Bokar is a licensed registered nurse with clinical experience in critical care and emergency medicine. Prior to her current appointment, she helped to create and develop the department of Clinical Risk Management and served as its Director for six years. Ms. Bokar formerly served as Risk Manager for an 800- physician group practice and as a Claims Coordinator for a professional liability insurance company, as well as the Cleveland Clinic s Office of General Counsel. 4 Session 4 Speakers David Kissinger, RN, is an experienced healthcare provider with expertise that includes adoption and implementation of EHRs, public policy, quality improvement and patient safety. David s business acumen as well as his clinical expertise were paramount in the success of the business development effort in the Great State of Ohio. David s expertise in healthcare information technology was the pivotal factor in the growth of the Ohio business from $2 million in 2010 to $11 million in 2012 as well as the generation of over $30 million in total revenue in just over three years. This business growth was a key contributing factor in the attractiveness and ultimate successful acquisition of maxit Healthcare by Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) (NYSE: SAI) in the fall of David has over 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry, both provider (Catholic Health Partners, ProMedica, HCR Manorcare) and IT (maxit Healthcare, SAIC, LeidosHealth, Innovative Consulting Group) and as an RN he has strong knowledge of quality and patient safety issues as well as expertise that includes adoption and implementation of EHRs and public policy. He is an industry leader in the intersection of the clinical and technology environments and works to providing subject matter expertise to ICG and their clients while assisting with developing innovative solutions that leverage ICG s experience to address current challenges in the healthcare industry. David currently serves on the influential Public Policy Committee of HIMSS North America and has previously run for State Representative in his home state of Ohio. David began his healthcare career in the United States Navy where he served with distinction as a Hospital Corpsman. Carol J. Vanpelt, RN, MSN, ANP, has over 35 years of experience in both hospital and private practice settings. Her experience spans multiple hospital inpatient departments including prominent roles as an Inservice Coordinator and Quality Management Coordinator. Once obtaining her license as a Nurse Practitioner, Carol s roles included both urgent care and family practice settings. 5 Session 5 Speakers Jennifer Carpenter, RN, MSN is the Director of Clinical Systems for University Hospitals, providing leadership for operational and project activities related to the hospital EMR applications. Jen began her career at UH Rainbow Babies and Children s Hospital in direct care roles, transitioned to staff development, and then found a passion for the challenges and pace of HIT with UH s EHR implementation, which began in Jen has a strong working knowledge of the EHR Incentive program, having led UH project efforts for the hospital Meaningful Use Program since Barb Bungard, RN, MSN works at Akron Children s Hospital as the Manager of IT Regulatory Operations. Barb is an RN and has her Masters in Nursing Informatics from the University of Maryland. Over the past 36 years, Barb has held a variety of positions at Akron Children s Hospital including Nurse Educator and Nurse Manager in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Barb transitioned to the Information Service department 6 years ago as a Process Engineer. In this role she assisted with analysis of current workflows across the organization in preparation for an enterprise EHR implementation. Barb s responsibilities have included implementing their first EHR application, preparing for the ICD-10 update, and successful attestation for Meaningful Use Stage 2 Eligible Hospital and Stage 1 Eligible Providers.
