Mobile Communicator for Mobile Devices Your EarthLink phone service can be used to make or receive calls from your desk phone, your PC or Mac and your mobile devices. For this to work on your mobile phone or tablet device you ll first need to install the Mobile Communicator app. Compatible Devices Mobile Communicator for Mobile works on these mobile devices: iphone 3GS or newer running ios 5.0 or above. ipad, ipad Mini, ipad Air running ios 5.0 or above. Android OS V2.3.3 and above. Access the Apple App Store or Google Play to download and install the application. Download And Install App Download Mobile Communicator for Mobile from Google Play or Apple App Store and install on your mobile device. To download directly from a browser, log on to CommPortal from your mobile device and go to the Apps Tab to download the app. Call Handling Basics Placing Calls To make a call enter the number you are calling into the Mobile dialer or simply tap on the contact and touch the contact s number you would like to call. Mobile Communicator for Mobile will route the call over WiFi or using 3G/4G/LTE mobile data while still showing your business phone number. Receiving Calls When someone calls your EarthLink number the app will pop up and ringing tone will alert you of the incoming call. During The Call While a call is in progress, you ll have these options: Hold Mute Dial Pad Speaker Switch to Other Device Add Call (Conference) Transfer End Call 3
Managing Incoming Calls If another call rings in while you are on a Mobile Communicator call, you can end or place the current call on hold to answer or reject the new call. Transferring Calls Use the transfer button to send any call to another number. A menu will pop-up allowing you to pick the number for any contact or to type in a completely new number. Call Jump Call Jump works with your other EarthLink Hosted devices allowing you to pull a call to your phone or tablet without needing to place the call on hold. When you are on a call on another device, your Mobile Communicator App will show you that a call is in progress. Tap the call to pull it your mobile device. You can then use Call Transfer to send the call back to your desk phone. Call Quality Monitor Calls made via Mobile Communicator won t use your mobile minutes. Instead calls complete over the Internet via your phones data connection (WiFi or mobile data). If the data connection is not reliable or is lost you will be prompted to switch the call to an alternate connection. You can resume the call on one of your other EarthLink hosted devices or have the call connected to your mobile phone line. Contact Synchronization Mobile Communicator for Mobile adds a new source of contacts that can be displayed on your devices contact list. If you add a contact directly into Mobile Communicator for Mobile, it will open the usual contact management feature on your phone. The contacts will be added to your CommPortal and be available on all your EarthLink connected devices. Additional Features Visual Voice Mail and Fax If you have a voice or fax message, the indicator will change color and indicate the number of messages received. To listen to the one you want, press the play icon and fast forward and rewind using the slider. To delete, press delete or the trash can icon. Call Management Options A quick swipe away or touch the 3-line navigation icon from the Mobile Communicator contacts list reveals all the other controls that you need to access the many rich features of Mobile Communicator for Mobile. To enable your call manager rules, select Call Manager from the Setting menu. Incoming Call Manager will monitor your incoming calls, and route them depending on who is calling, the time of day and whether your are on a call or not. You can forward callers to an alternate number, send the caller to voice mail, reject the call or ask them to record a name before connecting the call. Instant Messaging Increase productivity by easily connecting with colleagues by sending them an Instant Message. You can view telephone presence status, and let people know when you are available or on the phone. Presence Status With Mobile Communicator presence you can easily see if a coworker is available for a call or send an IM if they are in a meeting. Your presence status will automatically update if you are on a call. Your Contacts List Mobile Communicator for Mobile automatically opens to your Mobile contact list. Depending on how your service is set-up, this contacts list may include: Contacts that are contained in the contacts list that is already on your phone. CommPortal Business Group Directory. CommPortal contacts. Mobile Communicator for Mobile provides the user with access to corporate directory and CommPortal contacts directly on the installed device. Those extra contacts will be automatically removed if you uninstall Mobile Communicator later. Settings Scroll through the options in Settings to make sure they are the ones that you want. Note that many of the settings like ringtone and notifications sounds are adopted from the settings that are already in your phone. From the settings page you can configure your ringer tone, contact lists, change password, chat settings and more. This section of the app also allows you to make important choices about services that Mobile Communicator can use. You can specify that it should only use WiFi or both WiFi and mobile data. This can be very important if you have a low mobile data allowance or if you are roaming, when mobile data use may be costly. Emergency Calls If you place a 911 call from Mobile Communicator for Mobile, it will attempt to make the call using the native cell phone dialer subject to availability and coverage limitations. 911 calls cannot be made from tablet devices at any time. You may update your 911 location via CommPortal at https://voip.elnk.us Find Your Password You ll need your EarthLink CommPortal phone number and password to start using Mobile Communicator.
