At a reception Thursday, April 25, at the Kemp Auto Museum, St. Louis Magazine Editor-in-Chief Jarrett Medlin and St. Louis At Home and St. Louis Family Editor-in-Chief Christy Marshall presented awards to 63 finalists. The overall winners in each category were announced for the first time at the reception. KPLR-TV anchor Christine Buck served as the evening s guest speaker. St. Louis Magazine s Excellence in Nursing Awards included 18 categories: Acute Care/General Medicine; Cardiovascular; Community/Ambulatory Care; Educator; Emergency Department; Hospice/Home Health/Palliative Care; Intensive Care; Management/Nurse Executive/Clinical Leader; Medical-Surgical Nursing; Neurology/Psychology/Behavioral Health; Oncology; Orthopedics; Pediatrics (Neonatal); Pediatrics (Non-Neonatal); Research; School; Senior Services; and Women s Health. We hope these awards shed light on a vital part of St. Louis healthcare community, says Editor-in-Chief Jarrett Medlin. Hopefully, in recognizing the region s most outstanding professionals and telling some of their incredible stories, it will inspire future nurses. St. Louis Magazine received more than 200 nominations for the awards contest. Those nominations were evaluated by a selection committee, which chose the finalists. In addition to the Excellence in Nursing Awards presentation, Dr. Marty Spies, Professor and Faculty Chairperson of Chamberlain College of Nursing, presented an award to each winner who received a perfect score from the selection committee.
