1 Steps for Recruiting Diverse Faculty Members: 1. Engage campus professionals of color for help in the recruiting process. Ask for references and see if they are interested in meeting and interacting with the candidates. 2. Contact department chairs at Xavier University, and Dillard University, two black colleges affected by Hurricane Katrina. Many faculty members at these schools have been let go and are actively seeking new positions. Keep in mind that not all of these faculty members are people of color. Contact and inquire as to whether your job posting can be added to the Employment list. 4. Write to the Department Chair or Provosts at Midwest schools with a history of graduating doctoral students of color, and ask for assistance in identifying and contacting candidates. Ask that Position Announcements be sent to eligible candidates.
