Buenos Aires 04 8 Days / 7 Nights Day 01 - Buenos Aires Reception at the airport and private transportation service to the chosen hotel with bilingual guide. In the afternoon, we will enjoy the Tango Tour: Tango as a Porteño Cultural Symbol excursion in a private service with a bilingual guide expert in Tango History. We will start our visit to the suburb of old Buenos Aires, where the city bordered the countryside. We will continue to La Boca, harbor area neighborhood of working class people, where most of the Genoese immigrants settled down at the end of 19th century. There, we will visit one of its typical conventillos, tenement houses where numerous families lived; they had different origins but the same reality: Poverty. Tango was growing, from slums to downtown; first, thanks to traditional theater; then, thanks to the birth of radio. Thus, tango started to enjoy a tremendous popularity, until it disembarked in Corrientes Street, site of the main musical shows, named the street that never sleeps due to its frantic activity. Since then, tango is considered the porteño cultural symbol par excellence. After walking round Corrientes Street, we will visit the Palais de Glace, an elegant hall where high-class people started to dance tango; thanks to them Tango reached Europe. The definitive internationalization of tango took place when Carlos Gardel, the greatest tango singer ever, took it to the big screen of Hollywood. Finally, we will visit Abasto, birthplace of Carlos Gardel. Formerly a slum, then one of the rebellious neighborhoods of Buenos Aires, today it seems to resist the efforts that have been done (the construction of Abasto Shopping and the setting up of international hotels in the area) to integrate it 1

to the mainstream tourist circuit. This neighborhood, site of numerous milongas where the most authentic tango is danced, still keeps its traditional personality. We will visit the house where Carlos Gardel lived, recently declared National Historic Patrimony. At night, "Dinner and Tango Show with VIP Menu" at the tango house chosen, "Carlos Gardel s Corner", Gala Tango, "La Ventana", Madero Tango, "Piazzolla Tango" or "Viejo Almacén", including hotel/show/hotel private transportation service with bilingual guide. The famous nightlife of Buenos Aires offered to its own people and to those who visit the city features innumerable gastronomic and artistic options. You will enjoy the magic and the charm of Tango, the protagonist of the night! It includes dinner with VIP Menu with starter, main course, dessert, soda or mineral water, a bottle of wine per person, coffee or tea, a glass of champagne. Day 02 - Buenos Aires Visit to the City, San Isidro, and Tigre with lunch and return trip across the Río de la Plata by boat full-day excursion in private service with bilingual guide. It includes Appetizer at Tortoni Café and Boat Trip through the Delta and the Río de la Plata (1.30hs). We will depart from Mayo Square, fundamental perimeter of Buenos Aires, to visit the Casa Rosada, the Cabildo (Town Hall), and the impressive neoclassic-style Metropolitan Cathedral with the Mausoleum of San Martín. We continue to San Telmo, site chosen by the porteño aristocracy until 1871, walking through its cobbled streets, stopping at the traditional Dorrego Square where visitors can buy from first-class antiques to second-hand magazines and records. Our next stop is La Boca, neighborhood where most of the Italian immigrants arrived and settled down at the end of 19th century. We will be amazed at the zinc-sheet houses painted in bright colors, Caminito Street, and the football stadium Boca Juniors, Maradona s sports cradle. We will visit Puerto Madero, the most modern and sophisticated neighborhood that originates from an urban project that started with the renovation of warehouses and sheds aiming at setting up exclusive houses, restaurant, hotels, and modern buildings. Next, we will move to Retiro, where the splendid San Martín Square can be found surrounded by elegant buildings reminiscent of the French Belle Époque such as the former Paz Palace, San Martín Palace, and the Plaza Hotel (Stop at the Monument for the Fallen on Falklands War). In Recoleta, we will visit Alvear Avenue where the principal fashion stores in the world are located. We will tour around Francia Square, one of the most beautiful parks of the city, the colonial Pilar Basilica, and the wellknown Recoleta Cemetery where the most prominent Argentinean personalities rest, among them Eva Perón. Palermo: We will visit its magnificent forests, a giant green area designed by Charles Thays and we will admire the luxurious mansions of French architecture. Going out of the city, we will go to Zona Norte, which includes Vicente López, Olivos, Martínez, Acassusso, San Isidro, and Tigre. The first stop will be San Isidro to visit the elegant historic center which is amazingly well- 11

preserved. The neogothic-style San Isidro Labrador Cathedral built from 1895 to 1898 displays works of art and relics; among them, a piece of the incorrupt body of Saint Isidore. Around the Cathedral, we will be amazed at the splendid mansions such as Anchorena House (today, San Juan el Precursor School). We will continue to Tigre, stopping at Villa Julia, an exclusive boutique hotel where we will have lunch at the Acacia restaurant. We will tour around the Delta among splendid green islets, lush vegetation, and native fauna. Paraná River Delta is an alluvial basin of 100,000 years formed by sediments deposited through time by the Paraná River. After traveling through the Delta, our boat will go toward the Río de la Plata returning to Buenos Aires. Before disembarking in Costanera Norte, we will have the unique opportunity of observing the whole city from the river. Lunch included at Villa Julia restaurant or a similar. It includes a starter, main course, dessert, coffee or tea, soda, juice, mineral water or a beer, and a glass of wine. Day 03 - Buenos Aires Club, Olivos Golf Club and Pilar Golf Club, La Reserva Cardales Country Club, 1st golf round, green fee and caddie service included. Besides, we will rest in an exclusive ranch and we will enjoy the authentic countryside life. First, we will go to San Antonio de Areco town, which is amazingly wellpreserved; this being the pride of its inhabitants. We will tour around the Cultural Center and the Draghi Workshop, located in an early 1900 s beautiful house in front 111

of Ruiz de Arellano Square, displaying an important collection of 19th and 20th-century native silver works, and The Ricardo Güiraldes Museum, dedicated to the prodigal son of the town and author of Don Segundo Sombra, one of the most representative books of the native literature. The museum is located in a ranch where a pulpería, typical gathering place of the gauchos, is re-created. We will find weapons, books, pictures, clothing, and household goods which will give us an idea of this countryside people s life. We will spend the rest of the day at the quiet El Ombú de Areco, an exclusive ranch of the Pampa Húmeda region. Its main building from 1880 is surrounded by large galleries with lamps and it has a wonderful park featuring 4 hectares, full of oaks, araucarias, palm trees, casuarinas, magnolias as well as the great ombú which gives the name to the ranch. There, we will enjoy a countryside asado served with Argentinean wines, or an international one, if preferred. In summer, lunch will be served under the shadow of the previously-mentioned ombú. To culminate, we will have the opportunity of doing some horse riding across the ranch fields. Furthermore, it is possible to enjoy the swimming pool, the solarium, walks, bird watching, and participate in rural activities such as cow milking, herding, vaccination, marking, among others. as the financial center of Buenos Aires during the day and it has turned into the district of pubs at night. Then we will visit San Martín Square, and in Recoleta, the National Museum of Fine Arts and the Nuestra Señora del Pilar Basilica.
