28 24-hour Buenos Aires A day in the City, visiting places which are a must. 9.00am Starting point: the Obelisco, placed on 9 de Julio, avenue with two boulevards, considered the widest in the world. Through Roque Sáenz Peña Av. (Diagonal Norte) you can reach Plaza de Mayo, City s foundational centre. On the way, we recommend you to pass by CIT at Florida and Diagonal Norte (and buy the Tourist Bus ticket, which you can use during the whole day). There you will find the most important historic places and buildings. It is enough to stroll over the square to watch them: Catedral Metropolitana (San Martín on the corner of Av. Rivadavia), the Government of the City of Buenos Aires Palace (Bolívar 1), the Cabildo (Bolívar 65), the Casa Rosada (Balcarce 50) am Keep on walking towards San Telmo, one of the oldest neighborhoods of the City. Churches, markets and museums join the antiques commercial route. Do not miss a walk through San Telmo s market, which keeps the neighborhood s historic tradition. For those who love History, the Zanjón de Granados is one of the place s secrets better kept in this site. 29 12.30pm Once in La Boca, you will notice that Caminito Street is an outdoor museum gathering painters, musicians, dancers, living statues, street works. 2.00pm From La Boca, making the most of the Tourist Bus run that will let you visit the ecological reserve, you will be able to reach Puerto Madero, former City s harbour, recently revitalized, which has now become a gastronomic area. We recommend you to taste the well-known Argentine meat in one of the area s parrillas, with a view to the river. 4.00pm A taxi can take you from Puerto Madero to Recoleta: one of the most exclusive areas of Buenos Aires. There, it is worthwhile to visit the Cemetery, where you will find the tombs of Eva Perón, Adolfo Bioy Casares and Facundo Quiroga, among others. Another place to visit: Iglesia del Pilar (Junín 1890). 6.00pm To end the day, take a stroll across Palermo Viejo, area in the vanguard of art, design and gastronomy. 30 +24-hour City Buenos Aires Other options for those who want to enjoy the several attractions proposed by the City one more day. 9.00am You can start your tour by bicycle or on foot through Palermo forests. It is the most important green area of the City, offering a recreational space ideal for strolling or practicing sports. There you may visit the Rosedal and the Lake and, afterwards, you can reach the Japanese Garden. From this point and walking straight through Figueroa Alcorta Ave., you will get to the MALBA (Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires) am Malba, whose modern building houses a permanent Argentine and Latin American Modern Art exhibition, is a must. It is located in Palermo Chico, an area of mansions and embassies (please don t miss to tour around this distinguished neighborhood). 2.00pm By taxi to Retiro you can appreciate the Avenida del Libertador in all its splendor. It is surrounded by 1900 s buildings and palaces and immersed in the green of its parks. On arriving at Torre Monumental and Retiro Stations, 30 Buenos Aires

31 make a stop to watch the Kavanagh Building (first City skyscraper) and Marriot Plaza Hotel, built to lodge visitors to the celebrations of the First 100th Anniversary of Revolución de Mayo (May Revolution). Once in this neighborhood, we suggest you to lunch in some of the pubs with their tables on the sidewalk, distributed all over Reconquista Street, a new pedestrian area offering an oasis in the middle of the restless Buenos Aires City. 4.00pm Walking through Reconquista towards Córdoba Ave., it is worth making a stop and doing some shopping at Galerías Pacífico, magnificent mall famous for its impressive dome gathering frescos by Antonio Berni, Lino Spilimbergo, Juan Carlos Castagnino, Demetrio Urruchúa and Manuel Colmeiro. 6.00pm From here, walking through the emblematic Florida Street, you can reach Avenida Corrientes, full of bookshops, music shops, theatres and pizzerias.
