How To Get Started With Every Door Direct Mail This guide is designed to help you to get started with every door direct mail. The United States Postal Service (USPS) provides every door direct mail (EDDM), and it s a great tool for both Realtors and small business owners. EDDM allows you to mail a postcard to areas within a zip code. You do not need a list of addresses. All you have to do is pick the postal service route that you want your postcards delivered to, and the USPS will do it for dirt- cheap! There are some very strict guidelines when it comes to using the EDDM system, and luckily, we ve spent hours of research and we now fully understand what has to be done for your postcards to be acceptable for the USPS. We have created the guide for you, and all you have to do is follow the four steps. Also, you may watch videos of everything covered in this guide by going here: http://members.endlesslistingleads.com/training- systems/eddm/generating- leads/ and also going here: http://members.endlesslistingleads.com/boot- camp/ Table Of Contents 1. Downloading and setting up your postcards. 2. How and where to order your postcards. 3. Preparing your postcards to be mailed. 4. Successfully mailing your postcards to the area you want.
Part 1: Downloading And Setting Up Your Postcards With Your Own Domain Name There are two types of postcards on the Endless Listing Leads membership site. Included in these two types are: postcards that use squeeze pages and the Mobile Real Estate Marketer software. And there are postcards that simply use your general contact information. If you do not have time to set up your squeeze page and the Mobile Real Estate Marketer software (provided for you), then I would highly recommend just using the postcards that don t require these elements. Setting Up The Mobile Real Estate Marketer Software And A Custom Domain Note: You may skip this part if you want to just use general contact postcards. Before I get started, I want to let you know that there is a video that shows this entire process. If you would rather watch the video, go here: http://endless- listing- leads.s3.amazonaws.com/boot- camp/ell.boot.camp.1.mp4. Set up your Mobile Real Estate Marketer Software (MREM) by going to: www.mobilerealestatemarkter.com/login If you need your login information, visit the Your Tools page on the Endless Listing Leads membership site by going here: www.members.endlesslistingleads.com/your- tools Also note that the MREM software is free for 30 days after you sign up for the Endless Listing Leads system. If your 30 days is up, you will need to renew your subscription. The first thing you will need to do is add a phone line. Do this by clicking phone lines at the top of the page and then click, add a new phone line. Set up the area that you want the phone number to be from. You can modify with the area code, zip code and more. Find the number that you want and then click the request link. Your phone number will take a few hours to get approved. Once it s approved, click on the edit button beside of the phone number. Open a new window in your browser and go to http://members.endlesslistingleads.com/training- systems/eddm/generating- leads/ (this link goes to module 1 of the training systems on the member site).
Scroll down until you see Mobile Real Estate Marketer Scripts And Audio Files. Right- click and click save target as or save link as (whatever pops up) on the files that say, Welcome, Seller Extension, Buyer Extension, and Leave A Voicemail. Download these files to your computer. Now go back over to your MREM page. Under the Greeting Audio, choose the option that says Media/Recorded message and then click choose file. Upload the Welcome file that you just downloaded. Do the same for the Voicemail Prompt area and click save. Now we are going to set up the buyer and seller extensions. The pre- recorded audio files on the membership site (that you downloaded) have instructions for sellers to press 1000 and buyers to press 2000. Now I will show you how to set that up. At the top of the page (on the MREM site), click codes and then add a new code. Enter 1,000 for the code number and then click add. Now find your code you just made and click the edit icon (it looks like a man in a business suit). Under code description enter Seller Extension. Under the Audio Message, click Media/Recorded Message and then upload your Seller Extension audio file. Choose your notification settings. You can now choose to be notified via email or text message whenever someone calls the number and enters the code. These two codes (1,000 for seller extension and 2,000 for buyer extension) are very generic. If you wan to create your own message and your own codes, you can do that too. Go here to learn how to set that up: http://mobilerealestatemarketer.com/support/ This link will also go more in- depth at how the MREM software works. Remember, you can also use the MREM software for capturing leads on your real estate signs by letting buyers call or text your MREM number for more information. Custom Domain Name For Your Postcards Your domain name should forward to the lead capture website that matches what s being promoted in the postcard. For example, if you re downloading the Home Value postcard, you will want your URL to go to the Home Value Report lead capture website.
If you haven t set up a custom domain for one or more of your lead capture sites, please go here: http://automated.customers.s3.amazonaws.com/marketing- materials/how- to- forward- your- domain.pdf. Setting Up Your Postcards In Microsoft Word To Set Up, Right- click on the postcard that you want from the Your Downloads section of the training EDDM page (front and back) that you want, click save target as, and save to where you want. After opening your file, the first thing you want to do is go to file à page setup. Under the paper size drop down menu, select manage custom sizes. Click the little plus button to add a new setting. Insert the width as 9 and the height as 6.5. Put all of the margins to 0. Rename your setting to EDDM and click ok. Make sure on the orientation buttons that the stick man is standing straight up and not sideways. You have now made an EDDM setting. Be sure you use this every time you edit or save a new postcard. Change out the generic information to match your information, and then click file à save as à PDF. You will find the PDF setting under the format drop down menu. Find where you want to save your file and then click save. Additional Notes: 1. We ve also put in a place where you can insert a disclaimer that says, Provided by (your name) of (your company). You will probably want to update this line of text with your name and your company name. 2. You are unable to edit the address section and the stamp section because there is no need to edit them. These sections are filled out to comply with EDDM and USPS guidelines. Reminder: Make sure that you change the URL on both sides of the postcard. Part 2: How And Where To Order Your Postcards You may use whomever you want for printing your postcards, but we highly recommend www.gotprint.net. We have price shopped, and we do believe they are the cheapest and best quality for what we are trying to do.
Choosing a printing company can be tough because not all of them offer EDDM printing sizes. And yes, there are certain dimensions that must be met when printing postcards. To get started with your order, go here: http://gotprint.net/g/uploadpostcard.do Printing Options: Size: 6.5 x 9 Paper: 14pt gloss Color: Color both sides Quantity: Your choice Upload: Instant online proof Zip Code: The zip code you re shipping the postcards to After you have selected your printing options, click continue. Click the upload button for the front file and upload your front postcard file that you saved in step 1. Do the same for the back. On the next page, verify that all of the information and spelling is correct, insert your initials in the approval box and click the add to cart button. Follow the checkout process.
Part 3: Preparing Your Postcards To Be Mailed The USPS requires that you create an account with them to be able to use the EDDM system. Once you create an account, you ll be able to use their online tool to select which route you want your postcards delivered to. A couple of forms also need to be included with your postcards. You can find these forms in the download section of the training system. I will also include direct download links in this document. A. Getting A USPS Account Go to www.usps.com and click the button that says sign up now in the top- right corner. Fill out your information and then click, create account. B. Choosing Your Route Once you re logged into your USPS account, you can choose your route by going here: https://eddm.usps.com/eddm/customer/routesearch.action 1. Enter the zip code that you want your postcards delivered to. 2. Select the checkbox of the route(s) you want covered. 3. Select your date when you will drop off postcards to USPS location. 4. Choose to pay online or pay when you drop off postcards. 5. Print the forms (facing slip and PS form 3587)
Part 4: Successfully mailing your postcard to the area you want. Your postcards must be in bundles of 50 or 100, and you can mail up to 5,000 per day. If you have excess postcards (like 455) then you would have 4 bundles of 100, 1 bundle of 50, and 5 excess. Take the excess cards and bundle them too. One facing slip must be attached to the front of each bundle. So if you have 5 bundles, make sure you have 1 facing slip for each bundle. Once you have attached your facing slips and, take your postcards and your PS 3587 form to your USPS location and drop them off for delivery. If you have followed the steps in this guide, then you should have no trouble mailing your postcards through the EDDM system. If you have any trouble, please feel free to contact support with any questions. Also, if you want us to design, bundle and mail your postcards, we can do that for you, just go here: http://endlesslistingleads.com/dfu for more information.
