Printer Installation for Students Students taking our graduate level courses should automatically have permissions to all of our lounge printers. However, lounge access is restricted to specific student groups. Please only install and print to the printers in the lounge you have access to. Standard lounge access: 2 nd + 3 rd floor lounge Hough Hall All students Gerson Hall lounge Accounting students Installing WCBA printers on Windows 7 & 8 Note: We have discontinued the installation of printers via the web interface. Instead the following method accesses the print server directly and shows all of the shared printer queues, allowing them to be installed as long as the user s permissions are granted. 1. Press Windows key + R key combo to open up the Run dialog box. 2. Enter \\w-prt-student.ad.ufl.edu and hit the Enter key or click OK. 3. Log in using your Gatorlink credentials in the format: a. Username: UFAD\<gatorlink username> b. Password: <gatorlink password> c. ENSURE you select the Remember my Credentials checkbox or you will successfully log in, but all printer connections will fail! 4. After successful log in you will see a list of authorized printers a. Printer names for Hough and Gerson Hall: i. Student-GER114-XEROX ii. Student-HGS230-XEROX iii. Student-HGS330-XEROX 5. Right click on the desired printer to allow the menu to appear and click the Connect link a. Accept the connection when the dialog box pops up asking if you want to connect b. Allow it to install the driver when it asks you to 2. Done! Page 1
Installing WCBA printers on OS X 10.8+ Installing printers on the OSX platform is a bit of a process. Please read every word CAREFULLY, as even a slight error can prevent the printers from working. If you complete this document and still cannot get your printers to work, please go to the Technology Assistance Center in BRY122. 1. Open System Preferences and click on Print & Fax. 2. Click on the (+) sign to add a printer. Page 2
3. You ll have to add the Advanced icon to the tool bar. a. Right-click (or CTRL+left-click) on the tool bar, and pick Customize Toolbar. 4. Drag the Advanced icon to the toolbar and click Done. Page 3
This is an example of what the screen would look like if I was installing the 2 nd floor printer in Hough Hall 5. Now, click on the Advanced icon and wait for it to give up on the search. Fill out the fields like in the left screenshot and then click Add. You will need to add each printer one at a time. Notes* The Type can be Windows or Windows printer via spools The Use field should be the Generic Postscript Printer for the color printers. Page 4 The following URLs should be used: smb://w-prt-student.ad.ufl.edu/student-ger114-xerox smb://w-prt-student.ad.ufl.edu/student-hgs230-xerox smb://w-prt-student.ad.ufl.edu/student-hgs330-xerox The Name field can be written as anything; however, you should write something such as HGS 230 so that you can easily identify the printer.
6. All the available printers have a duplexer, so check that option and click Continue. 7. You will now see the printer listed under Printers. Page 5
8. Double click on the printer you just added to bring up its queue window. 9. After you have brought up the printer queue by double clicking the printer in the Print & Fax menu, you will need to tell the printer to Print Test Page. This can be achieved by choosing Printer along the menu bar across the top of your Page 6
10. Most likely you will see something similar to this, the test print job will have an authentication error. Delete the Print Job Once the job is deleted, print another test page. There are multiple login methods, which will be listed here in the order in which they should be attempted. The word gatorlink stands for your Gatorlink username. The Gatorlink username and password are the credentials that you use to log into ISIS, webmail, and Sakai. For the examples below we will assume my login for Sakai was GoGators123! and my password was mbagator##. 1. Name: GoGators123!@ad.ufl.edu Password: mbagator## 2. Name: ufad\gogators123! Password: mbagator## 3. Name: GoGators123! Password: mbagator## If the print job is put on Hold, then the login failed. Try the next one. If the print job disappears, you have successfully printed! It is important that you choose to Remember this password in my keychain, otherwise you will be asked to login each time you print. Page 7
