Wizard Overview sendspace Wizard is available in three versions, for use with Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X (Universal binary) and Linux. Your Wizard desktop tool may look slightly different to the images in this guide, depending on your operating system, and your computer settings. However, the basic appearance and all menus and functions are the same in all versions. This view, as seen on Windows Vista, shows the top menu, two main windows, local and remote, and the transfer queue. The local window, on the left side, displays files on your computer. The remote window, on the right, displays the files uploaded in your sendspace account.

Below the menu is an address bar to enter download URL s, as you can see in this view on Mac OS X. Free users cannot use the Wizard for downloading and may find this area grayed out. You can select files and use the top menu to set an action. You can also right-click on a file icon to set an action, or you can drag and drop files between windows. Each time you select a file to be uploaded (or downloaded, if you are a premium user), the details are displayed in the transfer queue at the bottom.

Wizard Main Menu The menu provides easy access to the common Wizard functions. File: New connection The login popup is displayed so that you may connect to your sendspace account. Tools: Preferences Various user options are available, described in more detail in the next section. Connect: Connect to sendspace. Disconnect: Disconnect from sendspace. Use this option if you are using a secure computer. If your computer is shared you may prefer to be prompted each time you use the Wizard. Automatic Login: Check this box if you want to be logged in automatically each time you use the Wizard. Send me an Check this if you want to be sent a confirmation each time you upload a file. The confirmation will include the download link if you want to keep a record of it.

Use current open folder for uploads: This box is checked by default. It means that the open folder in the remote window is always the upload destination. Use current open folder for downloads: Check this box if you want downloads to go into the open folder in the local view. If you prefer all downloads to go into a different folder, uncheck this box and enter the folder location. There is a browse button provided on the right. Start queued files automatically: Check this box and any files added for transfer will begin automatically. Uncheck this box if you prefer to start transfers manually. Resume next file on file transfer completion: Check this box if you want the next file in your transfer queue to begin transfer as soon as the previous one has completed. When a destination file already exists: If the Wizard begins to transfer a file and a file with the same name

already exists due to a broken transfer, you can autoresume, never resume, or be asked what to do. Automatically clear successful transfers from the queue: If you prefer to leave finished transfers in the queue for status checking, deselect this box. Show extended options when adding file to upload queue: If this option is selected, when you add any files to be uploaded, an extended information dialog will open. You may enter a description and a recipient s address. If you have selected multiple files for uploading, you can apply the description etc. to be used for all the files, or not. If you are a premium user, you will also be able to add a download password. Max simultaneous uploads: You can choose how many files will be uploaded at the same time. The optimum amount depends on your connection. Max simultaneous downloads: You can choose how many files are downloaded at the same time. The optimum amount depends on your connection. When all uploads are completed: You can set the Wizard to do nothing, close the Wizard, and even shut down or restart the computer if you prefer. When all downloads are completed: You can set the Wizard to do nothing, close the Wizard, and even shut down or restart the computer if you prefer. This is useful if you leave your computer unattended during transfers.

Minimize the application when clicking the close button: If you prefer to minimize the application rather than close it, check this option. Show Wizard icon in the system tray: If you do not want the Wizard icon to be shown in the system tray, deselect this option. Minimize the application to system tray: If you prefer the application to open minimized to the system tray, select this option. Information for Mac Users Many of the menus for the Wizard are displayed when a user right-clicks on a file. For Mac users who cannot do this, right-click menus can be enabled by pressing the Ctrl (Control) keyboard key and your mouse button simultaneously.

Local Window The local window shows the files and folders on your computer. This view lets you locate files for uploading and select the destination folder for downloads. The local menu helps you to navigate through the files and folders on your computer. From left to right, the functions are: Back/Forward Arrows: You can go back to a previously viewed location and return using the back/forward arrows on the left, just like a browser. The feature includes a history button indicated by the two small down arrows - so that you can navigate further back/forward. Go to Parent Folder: Move up in the folder tree to the parent folder of the one you are viewing. Refresh: Use this button to refresh the current folder view. Home Folder: You can quickly move to the user home folder in Windows this is the user documents and settings folder. Desktop: Go directly to your desktop folder. My Documents: Go directly to your default user documents folder. Open a folder browser: You can open a folder browser to quickly locate a folder or file.

Folders are listed in a folder tree so help you quickly locate a destination. Switch the browser view: You can view files and folders in the local window in list form with file details or just displaying the files. Use this menu button to change views. This will only change the view in the local window. When you mouse over a file or folder in the local window we display basic file info for you, including the file size.

Uploading a File The local window helps you locate files on your computer. You can navigate using the various options in the local view menu. Once you have located a file or multiple files you want to upload there are three ways to add to your transfer queue and begin the upload. Method One: Select a file by clicking on the file icon and the click on the Add button on the main menu. If you have Start queued files automatically checked in preferences, the file will be added to the transfer queue and begin uploading automatically. If you have this option turned off, you can begin the transfer by pressing the Start button. Method Two: Once you have selected a file for upload, right-click and the menu options appear: Select Upload You can also use the keyboard shortcut F4.

Method Three: For many, this method is the easiest of all. Just select the file you want to upload and drag/drop the file to the remote window or to the transfer queue window both locations do the same thing; add the file to the transfer queue ready for uploading. Tip: You can even drag/drop files from outside the Wizard tool! For example, drag/drop files directly from your desktop to the wizard transfer or remote window and it will be added for uploading. If you have checked Show extended options in preferences, when you add a file to the transfer window using any of the methods above a dialog will popup: You can enter a description, a recipient s address and, depending on whether you have a premium account or not, you may enter a password. If you have selected multiple files at the same time, you can choose to apply the same description etc. to all the files, or be prompted for each one. You can view the progress of your uploads in the transfer window.

Transfer and Log View Windows You can check the progress of your transfers and make changes in the transfer window. If you right-click on a file in the transfer window, you can select further options including Start and Pause Transfer. You can also change the order in the transfer queue, moving files up or down in priority. You can delete a file from the transfer queue too it is only deleted from the queue the file itself is not deleted. The Log View lists all the activity of the Wizard and is useful to confirm an action has completed previously or to troubleshoot. Errors and error codes are also listed here.

Remote Window The remote window shows the files and folders in your online sendspace account. You can navigate between folders and select files for editing, downloading or deleting in much the same way as if they were on your computer. Your remote files and folders are the same as those in MyFiles on the website. Home Folder: You can quickly move to the user home folder this is the main default folder for your account. Switch the browser view: You can view files and folders in the remote window in list form with file details or just displaying the files. Use this menu button to change views. This will only change the view in the remote window.

Managing Remote Files You can edit files in your sendspace account, get download links, create folders and move files. Right-click on any file in the remote window and a submenu is displayed. New Folder: Select this option and you will be prompted to enter a name for your new folder. You can also create folders inside of other folders. Using different folders for your files is a useful way to order your files. After you have created a folder, you can rename it by selecting properties.

Download: Select this option to add the file to your transfer queue for downloading. Copy Link Location: You can copy the download link location to your clipboard ready for pasting into a document, etc. Rename: You can rename your file. Delete: You can delete the file this cannot be undone. Properties: You can edit the file name, add or edit a file description, add or edit a password and see the download link to the file. You can also see how many times a file has been downloaded. The properties that you see will depend on the type of account you have. Free users will not be able to set a password and non-pro users will only see one download link. Send File Link: You can send a file link to a recipient. In fact, you can send it to more than one recipient by separating multiple addresses with a comma.

You can also add a message that will be included in the that is sent. Refresh: This refreshes the window. You can move files into folders using drag and drop. Some of the options are available using keyboard shortcuts. These are shown next to the menu item.

Downloading a File from your Account This feature is available to Max and Pro users. Once you have located a file or multiple files you want to download in your remote window there are three ways to add to your transfer queue and begin the download. Method One: Select a file by clicking on the file icon and the click on the Add button on the main menu. If you have Start queued files automatically checked in preferences, the file will be added to the transfer queue and begin downloading automatically. If you have this option turned off, you can begin the transfer by pressing the Start button. Method Two: Once you have selected a file for download, right-click and the menu options appear:

Select Download You can also use the keyboard shortcut F4. Method Three: For many, this method is the easiest of all. Just select the file you want to download and drag/drop the file to the local window or to the transfer queue window both locations do the same thing; add the file to the transfer queue ready for downloading. The files will be downloaded to the folder on your computer that is open in the local window view.

Downloading a File using a URL If you are a Max premium user you can use the Wizard for downloading. Enter the URL for the file you want to download from sendspace in the location below the main menu and press Enter on your keyboard or click on the green triangle icon on the right. This will add the file to the transfer queue. You must make sure the URL is correct or it will be rejected. Please note: You cannot enter a sendspace shared folder URL, it must be for a file. You can also add multiple file URL s to your transfer queue. Select the icon on the farthest right, next to the Enter triangle. A new dialog will pop up.

You can enter or paste the download links you would like added to the transfer queue. You do not need to separate them with commas etc, we will extract the links from the entered text. You can monitor your downloads in the transfer window. If you want to download more than one file at a time, set the number in preferences. The Wizard has a built-in accelerator with resume support, so this is the best way to download from sendspace. For Pro users: You can use the Wizard to download your own files or other Pro files, but you will not be able to download other people s non-pro files for this, please use the main web site. If you are a free user and would like to use the Wizard for downloading, you can upgrade your account to Max at any time.
