2 E-Wire Configuration and Migration This document will assist you in migrating your s from our old system on to our new service. We ve divided the document into three sections depending on how you generally use your . These are: You check your s primarily through webmail only You check your s through a POP account on your computer You check your s through an IMAP account In case you re not sure if you re using a POP or IMAP account and you would like to find out this information, please 1. Open your program (Outlook, Thunderbird, Windows Mail etc) 2. Go to Account settings for the s. In Outlook 2010 this is located under File then Account Settings, in outlook 2007 it s under the Tools menu option then Account Settings 3. Once you open up the settings page, it should list up all your accounts and also their types. For your e-wire addresses the type will most probably be listed as IMAP/SMTP or POP/SMTP Before starting to use the new system you will need to know the password to your e-wire account. Webmail Migration Process If you use webmail to check your s you will need to navigate to our new webmail system which can be found at and log in using your username (first part of the address before sign) and current password. Please see screenshot below Figure 1: Webmail Login

3 After you login, the new mail system will check the old system and retrieve all your s that are in your inbox including the folders you had in the old system. This process will NOT retrieve your contacts saved into webmail and they would need to be copied into your new webmail one by one. It may take up to a few hours depending on the number and size of s in your inbox before all s can be available via the new web interface. However you should be ready to send and receive s from the new system the moment you successfully login. POP Accounts A POP account is an account that uses the POP3 protocol to get s from the system. A POP account usually deletes all the s off the system whenever you check your s on your computer. To confirm this is the case you can log in to the old webmail using the link and login using your username and password. If you see some s missing from webmail but are clearly present on your program then you are using a POP account. To avoid complications when migrating, it is recommended that you have your outlook delete the s from webmail once it s retrieved them. This is because once the migration starts and you have a local copy of the and also a copy left on the server but are using a POP account will result in your inbox having duplicates post migration. This is because you will have a local copy of the on your outlook and the system will also copy the from the old system and will be shown on your inbox as a new . Checking Current POP Configuration To ensure that all s are deleted from the server, 1. Open your mail program 2. Go to the Account Settings section where you have the option to change server details. See an image below from outlook 2010 Figure 2: Initial POP Settings

4 3. Click on More settings and click on Advanced and ensure that leave a copy of messages on the server. See image below Figure 3: More Settings, Advanced Tab 4. Once this is unchecked click on okay and save the settings by clicking on next on the internet settings pop up. 5. Click on send and receive and wait for your to retrieve all the s. You can check the webmail to make sure that no s are left in there. NB: This process is irreversible once the s are on your local machine we cannot retrieve them if something we to happen to your computer. Please exercise caution when changing these settings.

5 POP Migration Process To complete the migration of your account that s a POP you will need to follow the following procedure: 1. Navigate to our new webmail system, and log in using your username and password. Please see figure 1 above for details. 2. Once you re logged in you should see a new from the system welcoming you to the new platform. 3. After this you should go to the settings page on your program and update the server settings as per the screenshot below. Figure 4: New Server Settings 4. As an added level of security you must sign in with your account to send out an . This can be done by clicking on more settings and selecting the outgoing Server tab and ensuring that the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication and another tick on Use same settings as my incoming mail server. 6 5. After this click on okay and next to have outlook or your mail program test the new settings. IMAP Accounts If you ve configured your address on multiple devices then most likely you ve configured the as an IMAP account. When it comes to migrating an IMAP account, it is recommended that you remove the current account on your computer / mail program and set up the account a fresh with the new details. IMAP Migration Procedure 1. Confirm that all your s on your computer also exist on the webmail interface by logging in to with your username and password. 2. If all the s are accounted for in webmail. Open your mail program and remove the current account you have set up. 3. After removing the account navigate to the new system by navigating to and logging in using your full address and current password. Please see figure 1 above for details 4. Once you re logged in, the new mail system will pull s from the old system and update them on your new mailbox. Depending on the number of s in the old mailbox this may take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours and it s recommended that this step be done after hours when you do not need your s urgently. 5. Once the s are all retrieved and you can see them on the new webmail you can configure you mail program with the new account details. See screenshots below from Outlook 2010 Figure 6: New Account
