About Us is a design focused and award winning architecture and planning practice based in London. We have a diverse range of skills and abilities with a proven record in residential, cultural, leisure, commercial, retail, transport infrastructure and masterplanning projects. Our design approach is based around regular reviews with our clients to consolidate a shared vision for each project. This process is enhanced by our unique mix of creative ingenuity and commercial insight supported by a wealth of experience. The design process is open and communicative between both colleagues and project teams. Design workshops are used as a tool to stimulate lateral thinking and arrive at the appropriate solutions, challenging the accepted responses and providing a firm foundation for innovation. Ariel Greis Profile Ariel is an architect focused on the design and delivery of quality architectural work that responds to the clients needs. The strength of his experience is in developing wellsuited solutions to meet the clients budget and brief. During his career Ariel has passionately tackled projects large and small, from a modest house extension to an airport. Ariel started his professional career in 1999 after earning an RIBA student award. He worked for 4 years at Skidmore Owings & Merrill (SOM) where he took part on the design of large mixed-use developments, the renovation of heritage buildings, a 40 storey tower in Warsaw and the expansion of Dublin Airport. While working at Hamiltons, Ariel led a team designing a large office development in the City of London, residential and retail mixed-use developments and the transformation of a listed former cinema into a boutique hotel. He was responsible for the detail design and delivery of a residential tower in central Manchester and a health club with a 25 metre pool. Haydons Rd London The clients required the extension and renovation of their Edwardian terrace house typical of the grid layout in Wimbledon. The proposals aimed to increase the bedroom accommodation in the upper floors, enlarge the family area at ground level and provide office space in a mezzanine studio. The project allows for a work-live use within the constraints of a period property.
Leyton Rd London This project is for the extension b ild and refurbishment of a family home in Wimbledon. The property is a late Victorian terrace house with a modest rear garden which nonetheless benefits from expansive views into the adjacent playing fields. The proposals aim to make a more fluid link between interior and exterior spaces while also creating a variety of room configurations using flexible partitions with a degree of ingenuity, and in true Tardis fashion.
The Grove London The clients of this grade II ildi listed property in North London required to extend and refurbish it to accommodate their changing needs. The property is an early Victorian house along The Grove in Highgate and the project is the result of careful intervention and close coordination with the local conservation department Ariel Greis was responsible for this project whilst working at Schneider Designers.
Westbury rd London A double storey conservatory extension to a semi-detached house in North London. The extension reconnects the house to its garden in a sloping site creating a new hub for family life in the confluence of kitchen garden and den space. Ariel Greis was responsible for this project whilst working at Schneider Designers.
Parliament Hill London A substantial period semi-detached property within a conservation area in Hampstead, North London. The house was reworked internally and extended to the rear to provide a high specification residence. The design required great attention to detail to ensure that client requirements were met whilst sensitively retaining period features. Ariel Greis was responsible for this project whilst working at Schneider Designers.
Caldicott Square Rugby The proposals for the redevelopment b il i of a historic courtyard campus and the conservation of a grade II listed 18th century former rectory building within Rugby town s central conservation area through a composition of new and historic buildings which include high-quality, naturally ventilated office space, a hotel and associated conference and dining facilities, as well as leisure facilities Ariel Greis was involved in this project while at Hamiltons Architects.
Jetty Park Docklands A public arena in the heart of London s docklands; the Jetty Park comprises a series of spaces that enable multiple uses, ranging from markets and exhibitions to hosting outdoor concerts and performances. The design comprises a new floating pontoon jetty that rises and falls with the tide, enabling the public to seek out far reaching views of the Thames, and incorporates a substantial sheltered stage /viewing area, expressed in the language of the modular pontoon construction. This language is expressed throughout the site to provide a range of surfaces and sheltered seating.
City Place 3 Gatwick This development, on an office park adjacent to Gatwick Airport comprises four storeys of versatile office space wrapped around a central core and full-height entrance lobby. The use of displacement ventilation, high performance glazing and an attenuation water run-off tank combine to create a highly energy-efficient building. Ariel Greis was involved in this project while at Hamiltons Architects.
New Fetter Lane London This 14 storey building on a triangular b ildi site on the edge of the Chancery Lane Conservation Area to the west and the high rise New Street Square to the east. The building design responds to this context by hinging around its southern corner to produce a rotated step form. The building combines office and retail accommodation, will achieve BREEAM excellent environmental sustainability standard. Ariel Greis was involved in this project while at Hamiltons Architects.
