1 PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Elizabeth Cross Daniel Jimenez TAMPA S UNIVERSITY MALL ANNOUNCES MAJOR REDEVELOPMENT PLANS Construction is slated to begin as soon as first quarter 2016 Tampa, FL June 22, 2015 CBRE announces the upcoming redevelopment of the University Mall in Tampa. Mall owner, RD Management LLC, released designs for the first phase of a major renovation to the Mall. The first phase will include significant changes to the Mall s western wing, transforming approximately 246,500 square feet of retail space. The first phase calls for the addition of three new anchor stores, as well as two new freestanding restaurants located on outparcels along Fowler Avenue. A full list of newly committed retailers will be announced at a later date. Renovations are slated to begin in early Future phases will include similar improvements. With this redevelopment project, RD Management is reaffirming University Mall s commitment as a pre-eminent shopping destination in Tampa Bay, now and well into the future, said CBRE s Keily Potter, University Mall Marketing Manager. We are completely reimagining the shopping, dining and entertainment experience for our residents and visitors alike. Located on the doorstep of University of South Florida and several other major area employers, University Mall is home to over 125 retail tenants, including Macys, Sears, Burlington Coat Factory and Dillard s. The property underwent an $11 million interior and exterior renovation in 2008, and was acquired by RD Management in In October of last year, the property added its first major new tenant Studio Movie Grill, an upscale dine-in movie theater. The redevelopment project calls for the addition of lush landscaping, water features and seating areas offering visitors a comfortable place to enjoy the Florida weather. The project will include demolition of the existing enclosed mall common area space between the former JCPenney building and the remaining mall to create room for the new lifestyle addition. RD Management has partnered with New York s S9, Perkins Eastman Architects, the project architect. S9 s focus is on the planning and design of large-scale, mixed-use developments that include sizable urban residential and commercial components.
