The student performances were quite a hit with the audience. FLAIR Honor Society Members Enjoy a Culinary Arts Class On Wednesday, March 24, 2010, FLAIR Honor Society members participated in Culinary Arts Class held at Cross Creek High School. Craig Oglesby (below in red), the teacher of Culinary Arts at Cross Creek, hosted the group. Students helped him prepare a pasta dish that had chicken and sausage in it. Ana Pereira (below at stove), a Spanish teacher at Cross Creek High School, prepared a typical Puerto Rican dish, arroz con gandules (rice with beans), with the added ingredient of sausage. The students helped her in the final stages of preparation.

Edwin Pérez (below on right), a Spanish teacher at Cross Creek High School, prepared tostones, or fried plantains. He also cooked bacalaitos, or cod fish balls. In the photo, the students are cutting up the plantains for the tostones. Leslie Dawson (below, standing on left), a French teacher at Augusta Christian Schools, directed the students, who made a delectable dessert, clafouti à l orange, a type of pudding with oranges and cookies. She also brought a chocolate éclair cake which she had made at home. Other teachers, such as Pam Light of Evans High School and Jana Sandarg of Augusta State University, watched the students cook. After the dishes were ready, all present enjoyed a multicourse meal. A big thank you to all the chefs!
