The Shelly McGriff Endowed Nursing A LEGACY OF CARING Celebrating and recognizing 38 years of extraordinary commitment and leadership to nurses and patients

Shelly s compassion and professionalism have touched the lives of countless patients and their families. As a role model, mentor and leader, Shelly inspired caregivers to reach their highest potential. Shelly McGriff, R.N., BSN, MPA OUTSTANDING SERVICE SINCE 1978 After 38 years of service, Shelly McGriff will retire in January 2016. You know Shelly as our Chief Nurse Executive, responsible for the daily operations in the delivery of nursing care and the coordination of clinical care. Before she became Chief Nurse Executive, Shelly served as the Nursing Director of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. At the time, the NICU was a fledgling department. Shelly was instrumental in developing an exceptional team of caregivers, creating what is now Northern California s largest Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with more than 150 nurses. Shelly has been a strong advocate for advancing nursing care from within our dedicated, high-quality staff, and over the years has contributed generously to Sutter Medical Center s nursing scholarship program. We are deeply grateful for Shelly and her monumental contributions to developing an exceptional team of care givers while enhancing patient care at Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento and around the region.

Shelly McGriff Endowed Nursing The Shelly McGriff Endowed Nursing celebrates Shelly s legacy of caring by supporting employees pursuing or advancing their nursing education. As an endowed fund, contributions are invested in perpetuity, promoting nursing excellence and leadership for generations to come. McGriff Scholars The Shelly McGriff Endowed Nursing will award grants to qualified Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento employees pursuing undergraduate and graduate education. Scholarships in nursing will be distributed each year to support tuition and other educational expenses. Nursing Scholarship Recipient Traci Sheesley, R.N., MHA, CCRN Clinical Manager, Cardiac ICU, Neuro & Surgical ICU, Rapid Response Team 18 years with Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento Traci s manager, Kim Meyers, suggested she apply for a scholarship to continue her education. Traci says, It goes to show the support Sutter Health has for its employees. Kim was very encouraging and supportive of me going back to school and helping me. I have two young children, I work full-time and was going to school. The scholarship was another way to show that support and give a little bit to help me accomplish this goal.
