Template Times The Procrastinating Quilters Guild Newsletter June 2015 President s Message: Ahhhh...vacation in North Carolina with the family! Temp this morning is 68 degrees and listening to the creek by the side of the house! Calms me down!! Hope everyone got the email from the MidPinellasQS@tampabay.rr.com. If you didn't, that means we don't have an email in file for you. Please mark your calendars for the 2017 quilt show. February 17, 18, 2017. We are still needing chairs for: PUBLICITY - getting the word out to online sources, newspapers (an article in the paper would be a great way to get the word out), TV stations, etc. If you are a good writer, this is a great way to utilize your skills! MARKETING -are you a creative person? This person is in charge of the designs for the flyer and bookmark. We will continue the theme of the past - Celebrate the Quilt VIII. PROGRAMS - this person needs access to Word or Publisher. They collect the information that goes into the program and collects the ads that everyone sells. The listing for the quilters and their quilts, write ups for the 3 quilt guilds and a program schedule. QUILT NANNY - this is the person in charge of the Opportunity Quilt once the Quilt Mother completes it. This person keeps track of the calendar, tickets sales, quilt rack and the people who are taking it places to display and and sell tickets. All members can take it anywhere they can think. (Churches, service club meeting, other quilt shows, quilt shops, etc) We definitely want to get it to the Original Sewing & Quilt Show in Lakeland in the Feb/Mar time frame. We will also need people to help all the program chairs on committees. So if you love quilts and want to get to know people, this is a great way to expand your friendships in the guild. You can email me at chemmingsen@tampabay.rr.com if you are interested. Already we have chairs for: Admission - Peggy Shaw Quilt Selection - Lynda Weingart Basket Walk - Pauline Mallory Quilt Check In/Out - Elma May Brey Special Events - Cindy Stroud Vendors - Karen Barrie

Page2 Boutique - Teri Roberts Quilt Mother - Judy Wedekind Thank you quilt lovers for volunteering! We are looking forward to another great quilt show!! Most of these members are members of 1 to 3 of these guilds. We continue to look at alternate places to hold our parties and meetings where we have a guest speaker. I will be filling out paperwork when I get back to get a quote on an umbrella policy which is a requirement for some of these places. The May Party was a blast thanks to Pauline Mallory and Lynda Weingart! We had many people participate in the President's Challenge and the Baskets you all made were AMAZING! We definitely raised enough money to balance our budget! A very big THANK YOU to all of the members who created these baskets, and the people who bought tickets to bid on them. I know our table had a lot of winners! Looking forward to the June program and meeting! From the Mountains in Franklin NC! Carol Vice-President s Message: Dear PQers, Happy Summer! I look at Florida summers as the same weather as Vermont and Minnesota winters - time to stay in and quilt! What a nice party we had last month. Thanks to Cathy Starman and Lynda Wiengart with support from Mariam Scott, the flower pot promenade was a success. Thank you to everyone who donated a flower pot. My red, white and blue pot had a cute little patriotic quilt in it which I stitched together; trying not to procrastinate the quilting part. I hope you were able to get to know some other PQers in the group through our little game. You are all such good sports! Thank you to Penny Black, Judy Leshovsky, Elaine Rice and Terri Roberts for their help with the party blocks. They all turned out so cute. Next party we have fun with trees! Stay tuned! If you have any ideas for party favors or ideas for future party block ideas, please let me know. Thanks to Carol Hemmingsen, Penny Black, Judy Leshovsky, Cathy Starman, Lynda Weingart, Barbara Saydeh, and Mariam Scott for help with setting up the room. Once again, my mom's "many hands make light the work" was true. If you can help set up our December party or help make the party favors (they are not complicated) please let me know at pmallor50@gmail.com. Maryann Leonard has already made part of the table decorations!

Page3 Every party must be stored away and cleaned up. Thank you to all who carried and put away. Special thanks to Diane Friedman and Jackie and Zach Foulk for the final cleaning up! Looking ahead to next year, it looks like our committee has narrowed down the new locations to a couple places. Just in the final stages right now and will keep you informed. Happy Summer! Blessings, Pauline Quick Note from Judy Wedekind the 2017 Opportunity Quilt Mom... Just to let you know, a pattern has been selected, reviewed and agreed upon by the Board. I am still waiting to hear back from the Magazine publisher for permission to use the pattern, so more to come when it gets approved. Boutique Now is the time to start making items for the Quilt Show Boutique. If everyone made just one item a month each person would have 18 items made by the time of the quilt show in 2017. I m going to try not to procrastinate on this one. Let s form a committee that can up with ideas for the boutique items, categories of items (Christmas, kids, etc.) and patterns. Please contact me if you are interested on working on this committee or if you have ideas for the boutique. Thanks, Teri Roberts 2roberts@tampabay.rr.com 727 481-7286 Programs: Our May party was a resounding success. The Flower Pots for the Flower Pot Promenade made over $700. This exceeded my most optimistic expectations. Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who participated. June's program is scrappy quilts, presented by Susan Freebery and Becky Madasz. Susan was making a special quilt for this program and I know it will be spectacular...her scrap quilts are always amazing. July there is no meeting and therefore no program. This is the annual sale at Country Quilts and Bears. Are you saving up for the huge splurge?

Page4 August is our sit and sew. This year our theme is a baby shower for the Kimberly House. You may work on a philanthropic baby quilt or anything your heart desires. September program is Zentangle with nationally certified artist Debbie Purdue. She will be teaching a class on Friday at a cost of $55.00. Please sign the list at the party to let me know you are interested in attending. October's presenter is Sandy Snow, an award winning quilter who will share her ribbon winning quilt from Paducah as part of her lecture. I am also working with her on a class...stay tuned for the details. November's presentation is the Brown Bag Challenge reveal. December is our Christmas Party.
