Download & Install Check Point VPN Software Note: Before you can download the VPN software, you must be connected to the Internet and using Internet Explorer. 1. Cisco VPN software is available at the FPUA website: http://www.fpua.com/vpn/ 2. On the VPN Various Installation Options page, select Click Here -- VPN installation that is for your computer setup. The installation will work on Windows XP, Windows 7, and Windows 8. 3. After the download is complete, you may get different warnings or messages depending on the version and settings of your browser. Please follow the steps. A. You may the following warning at the bottom of Internet Explorer: If you do, click the arrow and select Keep. Now see if it looks like step B or C. B. You may have the following button at the bottom of Internet Explorer: Click the button to launch the program. See step C. C. How to handle Security Warning: 1. You may get one or both of the following dialogs. Just click on Run. Page 2
2. It is possible to get this warning message on older Internet Explorer. Click View downloads to show the download manager. Then right click the FPUA_VPN_64 selection and select Download unsafe file. When it has finished download, click on: Page 3
4. After a few minutes, you should see the following dialog: 5. Click Next to see the Software License Agreement. Accept the license and click on Next. Page 4
6. Accepting the default and start the installation by click on Install. Note: Windows 7 and Windows 8.x: You may get a User Access Control warning; just click the Yes button to continue the installation process. Page 5
7. Click on Finish when the installation has completed. If you are prompted to reboot the machine, then click Yes. Note: If you have a previous version of Check Point VPN already installed, the wizard will uninstall it, then prompt you to reboot your computer. After the installation is complete, the Installer Information window may prompt you to restart your computer. Select Yes, then click Finish Connect to FPUA by VPN Note: Before you can connect to our VPN server, you must be connected to the Internet. 1. In the bottom right corner of the screen, you should see an icon that looks like a padlock. This is the Check Point Endpoint Security VPN connector. Right click on the icon and select Connect. Page 6
2. The VPN software will attempt to establish a connection to the VPN server. In the VPN Authentication section, enter your FPUA Username and Password, and then click Connect. Page 7
3. The icon in your system tray will spin indicating that the client is working. An Endpoint Security on Demand scan will run to verify that your machine has no malware installed before a VPN session is established. You will see briefly in the system tray a login banner that reads: Connection Successful! You are now connected securely to the FPUA network and you can access resources using the application of your choice. NOTE: To disconnect, right click the icon in the System Tray and click Disconnect. Connect to Your Computer Note: Before you can connect to our computer, you must be connected to the Internet and connect by VPN. 1. While connected to the VPN, go to Start Run and type mstsc and press enter or if you are using Vista/Windows 7 /Windows 8 press Windows logo key +R. 2. Once you see the dialog screen below, type in your computer name and click on Connect. 3. Key in the name of your computer usually either last name or last name first initial. Page 8
4. Key in your User Name (usually your last name). 5. Key in your Password NOTE: To disconnect from the remote desktop log off of your work computer and then right click the icon in the System Tray and click Disconnect. Page 9
Determine Your Machine Type Identify 32-bit and 64-bit editions of Windows 7, 8 and Vista If your computer uses Windows 7 or Vista, then do the following: 1. Choose Start > Control Panel. 2. Do one of the following: If the Control Panel is in a category view, then click System And Maintenance. On the next screen, click System. If the Control Panel is in Classic View, then double-click System. 3. Look for 32-bit Operating System or 64-bit Operating System next to System Type. Identify 32-bit and 64-bit editions of Windows XP If your computer uses Windows XP, then do the following: 1. Choose Start > Control Panel (or Start > Settings > Control Panel). 2. Do one of the following: If the Control Panel is in a Category View, then click Performance And Maintenance. On the next screen, click See Basic Information About Your Computer. If the Control Panel is in Classic View, then double-click System. 3. In the System Properties window, click the General tab. 4. If the text beneath System says Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 Edition, then you are running a 64-bit edition of Windows XP. Otherwise, you are running a 32-bit edition. Page 10
