Name Change Competition Competitions Update 2010 Fixtures Diary Northland Referee Courses FAREWELL & WELCOME... After a little over 7 years in the full-time Development Officer role in Northland, Adam Hayne (left) has moved on to a new challenge in the USA. United Soccer 1 is pleased to announce that Dave Alabaster (right) has accepted the role of Northland Area Coach, ensuring the continued development of football in the North for the immediate future. Adam has mixed feelings about the move. It was a very difficult decision to make, but it is an opportunity I couldn t turn down. I ve hugely enjoyed by role at US1 and would like to thank all of those involved in football, both Club volunteers and the US1 staff that have helped progress football to where it is today. Dave is no stranger to football in Northland, having been in the part-time role of Area Coach between 2002 and 2004. He will be responsible for continuing the development of all areas of Northland activities, together with the current staff Scott Burgess and Cheryl Baker. Adam left on 27th June and Dave is getting to grips with his new role having recently started in the Whangarei office. We want to thank Adam for all his work with US1 and wish him all the best in his future endeavours in the States. ISSUE 13: June 2010 Charitable Trusts

L-R John Lynch, Northland Event Centre Manager with Scott Burgess and Adam Hayne. Traditionally a rugby ground, Okara Park, has now been turned into a multi-sports hub and local football is set to benefit from the top-class facilities. United Soccer 1 Northland are aiming to host a number of events there over the season, including the Northland Cup, the finals of the National Club Tournament, finals of the secondary school satellite competition, September s Youth Challenge and some North Force youth games. After a tour of the new stadium, US1 Northland development officer Adam Hayne is impressed with the upgrade. "It is a pretty awesome facility," he says of the park which will two host pool matches during next year's Rugby World Cup. "Having use of this venue will attract more football teams to Whangarei, Hayne says. He likens the refurbished stadium to other international-standard grounds around the country. It will be the first time that US1 have used the ground near the Whangarei town centre. Construction of the events centre which includes a four-level building housing a new 2500-seat south stand, convention centre and office space began in early 2009 and is expected to be fully completed this year.
