Pittsylvania Career & Technical Center SkillsUSA District III Championships Pittsylvania Career and Technical Center students were recently involved in the District SkillsUSA Conference and Skills Championships held at Danville Community College, Pittsylvania Career & Technical Center, Franklin County High School and Amherst High School. These events involved approximately 50 leadership and skill competitions with approximately 250 students representing District III SkillsUSA schools. SkillsUSA provides quality educational experiences for students in leadership, teamwork, citizenship and character development. It builds and reinforces selfconfidence, work attitudes and communications skills. It emphasizes total quality at work, high ethical standards, superior work skills, life-long education and pride in the dignity of work. Eighty (80) PCTC students competed in Disctrict III SkillsUSA and Leadership and Skills competitions. Sixty(60) students from PCTC placed in the top three medals at the District III SkillsUSA competitions. Twenty-four (24) students placed 1 st or qualified to compete in the SkillsUSA state contests to be held April 21-22, 2012 in Hampton, VA. 23 - First Place Gold Medals 18 Second Place Silver Medals 19 Third Place Bronze Medals Pittsylvania County Schools congratulates all the Career and Technical students who participated in the SkillsUSA District III competition. The 2012 Virginia SkillsUSA Leadership and Skills Conference and Skills Olympics will be held April 20-12, 2012 in Hampton, VA. PCTC students who placed 1 st are eligible to compete at the state competition.
