2 The high school years are a time when students get to know themselves and start planning for the future Some arrive in high school with a clear career goal (nurse, teacher, physical therapist, accountant, etc.) Some have a vague idea of the type of work they would like to do in the future (business, computers, social services, etc.) Others don t have any idea of what type work they would like to do

3 Whether they start out with a career goal or not, students often change their thoughts about careers during high school As they mature, and learn more about themselves and the world around them, adolescents ideas grow and evolve It is helpful to have formulated some postgraduation goals by the end of junior year
