ABOUT OUR COURSE Design is a universal visual language which communicates subtle or overt messages to the end user. Good design enhances life. The course consists of 12 comprehensive modules and 12 corresponding interactive assignments, which are designed to be read sequentially. The interactive assignments will guide you through the process required to successfully design a residential space, leading to your qualification as a professional interior designer. It is through participation and interaction that you will gain confidence to design for clients. During the diploma course you will be personally tutored by one of our experienced designers, who will take you on a fascinating journey as you learn to observe and and appreciate every aspect of interior design. HOW TO USE OUR COURSE When you enrol with The Interior Design Institute you will automatically receive your login details to the secure Student Site so that you can access all the information you need to get started. You will also immediately be assigned to your tutor who will assist and guide you every step of the way. The Student Site is where you will find all of your course materials, including the first 2 of the 12 modules, and where you can interact with your tutor and Student Support staff. They will be available to guide you every step of the way. As you work through each module and submit the corresponding assignment, you will gain access to the next module. Your tutor will assess your assignment and give valuable feedback on your ideas and creative solutions for each design brief. At the end of this course you will have designed a residential space complete with lighting, fabrics, colour and furniture that will become part of your professional portfolio. All of your assignments are completed online and only basic computer skills are required, so don t worry if you are a complete beginner. On successful completion of the course you will receive your Diploma in Interior Design and be on your way to a new and exciting future. 3
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS No previous experience in the design field is necessary. We only ask that you have enthusiasm and commitment. Every successful interior designer was once a complete beginner! We recommend that you take your time to study each module and complete the assignment. You have up to one year to complete the course. Student support will be there to assist you if you are having difficulty. MATERIALS NEEDED Because the course is provided online, minimal drawing materials are required. You will be notified by email when each assignment has been marked. Our technology allows you to interact with your own tutor online through our secure student site and submit your assignments via the Internet. This course is fully compatible with both PC and Mac computers. 4
