Each guest room is soundproofed and has a private bathroom. The rooms also feature work desks, and hairdryers are provided in the bathrooms. DAY 1 : Old Marseille and "Panier" district Saturday the 3rd of October 2015 2.30 pm : 26 centuries of history, from the Hôtel de Ville to the Vieille Charité, a walk throughout the Panier district, the oldest quarter in France : Hôtel Dieu, Maison Diamantée, Saint Laurent church & Docks Romains Museum. 4.30 pm : end of the visit
DAY 2 : Artists inspired by the Chateau d if & L Estaque Sunday the 4th of October 2015 9 am : take the boat to the Chateau d'if In Marseille, the sea has its very own monument: the If Castle, built under François Ist in 1524. In the 17th century the fortress was converted into a state prison. It was made famous by Alexandre Dumas novel the Count of Monte-Cristo 19 th century. 12 am : Aperitif at the Bar de la Marine, a setting for some of Marcel Pagnol s classic scenes. Lunch, drinks included, in a restaurant of Marseille (3-course meal wine coffee) 2 pm : Take the bus to L Estaque and discover this small fishing port where Cézane lived for a year and where several artists have been inspired by the magnificent colours of the bay. Follow in the painters footsteps! Visit in Fortin de Corbières the Monticelli Foundation, provencal painter who inspired Vincent Van Gogh. 4.30 pm : end of the visit
Day 3 : MuCEM & Soap of Marseille Monday the 5th of October 2015 10 am: The 1st museum in the world entirely devoted to Mediterranean culture; along with 5500 m2 exhibition space the MuCEM will also boast a bookshop and restaurant with a panoramic terrace. Set at the entrance to Marseille's harbour, the magnificent building designed by Rudy Ricciotti links up to the Fort Saint Jean tower by an aerial walkway. 12 am: Lunch, drinks included, in a restaurant of Marseille (3-course meal wine coffee) 2 pm : From the 7th century olive oil replaced the animal fats originally used to make soaps. Colbert gave it the name Marseille soap (savon de Marseille), a green-coloured soap sold in 5 kilogramme bars or 20 kilo cakes. At the dawn of the 19th century, Marseille had 70 soap factories. The 20th century proved to be fatal for this traditional industry, faced with competition from detergents as well as the invention of the washing machine and the appeance of modern shower and bath products. 4 pm : end of the tour
DAY 4 : FISHERMEN PORT - CASSIS Tuesday the 6th of October 2015 9 am : Drive to the charming little fishermen port of Cassis. Free time at leisure to visit the village, relax on the port for a 45 min. The main calanques of Cassis listed as world park heritage by UNESCO for their white cliff and turquoise water. 12 am : Lunch, drinks included, in a restaurant of Cassis (3-course meal wine coffee) 2 pm : Guided tour of one of Cassis' vineyards and taste some local wines and other specialities. 3.30 pm : end of the visit
DAY 5 : LOCAL MARKET & SHOPS Wednesday the 5th of October 2015 7 am : From the Old Port, walk through the fish market to craft shops. 9 am : Guided tour in the heart of the commercial district of Marseille, discover many branded and high quality shops from Marseille. 1 pm : end of the tour
