Added efficiency in the Transit editor The Transit editor is a standard work environment for all formats and for all tasks related to translation and quality assurance. Service Pack 8 supports you with additional functions, which allow you to translate and check quality even more efficiently: Improved search/replace functions: Count search results, mark them in the editor, use them as a segment filter Improved segment filter criteria: Segment revision, potential/used fuzzy matches, segment comments, used translation memory, language direction of the translation memory Use any segment information for navigation (jump to the relevant segments using hot keys or the menu) Use any segment information for marking (highlight relevant segments)
Added quality: Reuse of configurable check routines Transit offers you a wide variety of features to ensure your translation quality. With Service Pack 8, you have even more opportunities to support your quality standards when working in Transit: Save check-routine settings as a set Save as many sets as you want Apply the correct set to the correct situation (e.g. for the individual customer, file type, or processing step) Implement consistent and well-established quality criteria using saved check routines
Added transparency: Segment revision tracking Multi-stage translation and review processes in shared projects call for a transparent and traceable change history. Starting with Service Pack 8, Transit can record revisions and make them available as a segment-specific history. Automatically record segment changes with status change or user change Show the entire segment-specific history with change labels Show the previous revision step of the active segment directly in the editor Revert an individual segment back to a previous revision status Navigate to revised segments using hot keys or the menu Highlight or filter revised segments Save quality reports with all segment changes and segment comments
Additional MT systems supported Machine translation (MT) systems can support translators using additional, automatically generated translation suggestions. Starting with Service Pack 8, Transit supports the MT systems MyMemory, Microsoft Translator, STAR MT and Asia Online as additional alternatives to the systems that are already supported. Additional file types supported (1/4): More versions of Microsoft Office Microsoft Office 2013 is the current version of the Microsoft Office suite and is gradually replacing the previous versions. With Service Pack 8, you can also offer translations for Word 2013, Excel 2013, and PowerPoint 2013. Transit supports Word 95 through Word 2013, Excel 97 through Excel 2013, and PowerPoint 97 through PowerPoint 2013 Automatically generate PDFs for the integrated PDF viewer in Transit Preview your translated, target-language Word document directly in the Transit editor Translate text documents, table calculations, and presentations in one single project
Additional file types supported (2/4): More versions of InDesign and FrameMaker Using the optional filters for Adobe InDesign and Adobe FrameMaker, you can conveniently and efficiently translate DTP documents in Transit. With the latest plug-ins for InDesign and FrameMaker, you can offer translations for InDesign CC 2014 and FrameMaker 12 as well: Transit supports InDesign CS2 through CC 2014 (Mac and Windows) Transit supports FrameMaker 4 through 12 Receive data using the plug-ins InDesign Gate and FMGate Receive single documents, entire InDesign/FrameMaker books or the complete contents of folders Automatically generate PDFs for the integrated PDF viewer in Transit Data exchange with the new InDesign / FrameMaker plug-ins is also supported by earlier Service Packs of Transit
Additional file formats supported (3/4): More subtitle formats WebVTT is the current format for web subtitles and is continuing to gain in importance with the new generation of HTML5 and browsers. With Service Pack 8, you can offer WebVTT translations starting today and translate in exactly the right context and scope. Transit supports the subtitle formats SubRip, Text, and WebVTT See the audiovisual context for each subtitle directly in Transit's integrated multimedia viewer Automatically play the video clip for the active segment with synchronized playback
Additional file formats supported (4/4): More project packages from other systems SDLPPX files are project packages that contain the information for a translation, a review process, or other tasks. Starting with Service Pack 8, you can use the advantages of Transit even on SDLPPX jobs, which you receive from different translation memory systems. Unpack SDLPPX project packages in Transit Improve SDLPPX pre-translations using your own translation memory Use the internal-repetition mode for internal repetitions in SDLPPX projects Benefit from time-tested Transit functions even when working on SDLPPX projects Return translations as SDLRPX return packages
Project exchange (1/3): Added flexibility and efficiency Project exchange is the linchpin of collaboration between project managers and translators. With Service Pack 8, project managers can attach any additional files to project packages and save their exchange settings as the default: As project manager, select any file as a project attachment and exchange it as part of the project package As translator, open an unpacked project attachment directly with a click of your mouse As translator, view any PDF file directly in Transit's integrated PDF viewer Save project exchange settings as standard (general or customer specific) Use standard settings automatically
Project exchange (2/3): Additional project information Additional information, guidelines and working instructions support the efficient and high-quality project processing. With Service Pack 8, you can specify project-specific messages that are displayed automatically to all project participants at various process steps: Define project-specific messages and automatically pack and unpack with the project View all important information automatically for the corresponding process step and never miss it again No more separate e-mails to communicate and search for information and instructions Use project-specific messages as a useful addition to segment-specific comments
Project exchange (3/3): Even less translation effort for PPX, XLIFF, and SDLPPX You achieve higher quality with less translation effort through multistage pre-translation and targeted translation memory selection. Starting with Service Pack 8, pre-translations of unpacked projects can be improved using your own translation memory. Transit supports multi-stage pre-translation even for unpacked PPX, XLIFF, and SDLPPX projects Pre-translate projects from other systems with your own translation memory Expand and improve pre-translations from other systems with your own translation memory
Terminology (1/2): Additional options for dictionary management The terminology management system TermStar NXT is an integral part of Transit NXT. Service Pack 8 supports terminologists with additional functions for dictionary and terminology management. Generate terminology statistics more easily and more quickly Sort flat and hierarchical value lists with a click of your mouse Retroactively generate GUIDs (globally unique identifiers) for existing terminology inventories as well Synchronize and merge terminology inventories using data record GUID or entry GUID Filter data records according to number of main entries or subentries
Terminology (2/2): Added quality through improved duplicate control Duplicates are repeated entries in terminology inventories, which can be functionally unnecessary and therefore are often undesirable. Starting with Service Pack 8, additional functions help to eliminate existing duplicates and avoid new duplicates. Show all data records with duplicates in order to systematically and efficiently purge them Find and display duplicates across a range of dictionaries Check new terminology for duplicates in all existing entries and subentries Identify and avoid duplicates due to copying and pasting data records
Additional working languages Transit and TermStar support over 200 working languages and cover all target markets relevant to your translations. Starting with Service Pack 8, you can offer eight more languages and language variants: Transit/TermStar support additional language variants for Bosnian and Serbian More Asian languages are now supported, including Armenian, Burmese, and Lao For the Philippine market, you can now offer Filipino alongside the already supported Tagalog (Philippines) The additional language variant "German (plain language)" meets the standards of the accessibility statement
