Hawthorne Families 2 Days Until ISTEP+ Applied Skills. 4th grade students will begin taking the Online Multiple Choice portion of ISTEP+ on Monday, April 28. 3rd grade students will begin testing on Monday, May 5. In this section students will be working on English/Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science for 4th graders only. Students will be taking this test online. Your child and our teachers have been working hard each day to prepare for testing. Our teachers have been addressing Common Core State Standards and Indiana Academic Standards as part of our district calendar. We have also been working with students before and after school. This is a very important time and we want your child to show their HAWK PRIDE! From these tests, our school is graded on performance and increased student achievement. Below are some strategies that you can discuss with your child so that they are ready for testing. 1. Read each test question twice. 2. Double check each answer. 3. Do not skip any question. 2. 4. Use your time wisely. 5. When doing math problems, use scratch paper to work them out. Attendance is very critical during testing. Students need to have a good night s sleep and be at school on time. Testing will begin each day at 9:00 am and we ask that students be on time to school so that they can Have breakfast before testing begins. We also ask that you do not schedule any appointments during testing days. If an appointment is necessary, please schedule it after 3:00 when testing is completed each day/ Our students will be ready and we are excited about the results we will see. Have a great weekend.
