Preparing to upgrade Take a note on when your CRM deployment will be upgraded to CRM 2015. You need to upgrade Dynamo immediately after your CRM system is upgraded to version 2015. The steps involved in the upgrade process are: 1. Upgrade your CRM system to CRM 2015 2. Stop the Dynamo Synchronization Service 3. Upgrade Dynamo 4. Upgrade your Campaign Monitor Connector Multiple CRM Connections and CRM versions IMPORTANT: Although Dynamo supports connections to multiple CRM systems within the same Dynamo deployment, you cannot mix CRM 2015 connections with previous versions. You can still mix connections between CRM 2011 and CRM 2013, but if you need CRM 2015 connections, they must be located within their own Dynamo Deployment. Example In this example, we have a Dynamo deployment with the following connections configured: - 2 connections to CRM 2011 On-Premise - 1 connection to CRM 2013 On-Premise - 1 connection to CRM 2013 Online If your CRM 2013 Online is upgraded to CRM 2015, you need to split up Dynamo into two separate deployments: Dynamo deployment on Server 1 will contain: - 2 connections to CRM 2011 On-Premise - 1 connection to CRM 2013 On-Premise Dynamo deployment on Server 2 will contain: - 1 connection to CRM 2015 Online Page 3
Upgrade Dynamo to support CRM 2015 Step 1: Upgrade your CRM system to CRM 2015 Follow the guidelines provided by Microsoft and complete your server upgrade. If you are using CRM Online, Microsoft will take care of this step. Just take a note on when the upgrade will be performed, and monitor your inbox for an email from Microsoft Dynamics, when the upgrade process is complete. Step 2: Stop the Dynamo Synchronization Service 1. On your Dynamo server, go to Administrative Tools Local Services 2. Locate and stop the Windows Service named Dynamo Synchronization Service Step 3: Upgrade Dynamo The actual upgrade process happens when you start Dynamo. When you start the Dynamo Synchronization Client the following happens automatically: 1. Dymamo will be upgraded from version 2014.x.x.x to version 2015.x.x.x. A Global Manifest file with a version number larger than 70, will also be downloaded to C:\ProgramData\Dynamo\GlobalManifest.xml. 2. The Dynamo base solution with support for CRM 2015 will be downloaded to C:\ProgramData\Dynamo\Connectors\Dynamo\Dynamo2015.zip 3. The Campaign Monitor connector with support for CRM 2015 will be downloaded to C:\ProgramData\Dynamo\Connectors\CMCRM\CMCRM2015.zip 4. The current Synchronization Service will be uninstalled and a new version (7.x) will be downloaded and installed. Once the automatic upgrade is complete, you are presented with the regular Dynamo Login dialog. Press the Exit Dynamo button to close again. Dynamo will automatically unzip and extract the base connector, but you need to extract the Campaign Monitor connector manually before you can complete the upgrade: 1. Locate the Connector file under C:\ProgramData\Dynamo\Connectors\CMCRM\CMCRM2015.zip 2. Right-Click on CMCRM2015.zip and extract all files to the same folder (C:\ProgramData\Dynamo\Connectors\CMCRM) 3. If asked, choose to overwrite all existing files upon extraction Page 4
