2 Frequently Asked Questions None of my documents will download. When I try to view document a popup is displayed briefly and then goes away. What is causing this? Make sure that your browser s popup blocker is turned off. If you are running Internet Explorer. In Tools/Internet Options/Security Tab. Add WEB Site you are connected to as a Trusted Site. Set Security Level to Medium-low.

3 If you get the dialog below make sure that you uncheck the Require server verification ( checkbox in the dialog above. If not the system will not let you add web sites that start with I can download a file from WEB but I m not able to view the file. Why? Make sure that the application required to the document is installed on your computer. For example if you are trying to open a Microsoft Word document you will need an application capable of opening Word documents installed on your computer. To open FORMS you will need the FORMS Viewer installed. I get an Error in Internet Explorer when I start scanning. What is causing this? If you are running Internet Explorer. In Tools/Internet Options/Security Tab. Add the WEB Site you are connected to as a Trusted Sites and set Security Level to Medium-low. See item #1 above for settings required in IE dialogs. Then close and re-start your browser.

4 I m having problems scanning using Firefox, Chrome or Safari Scanning in Firefox, Chrome and Safari is performed using a 3 rd party plugin/add-on called Dynamic Web Twain. For scanning to work properly it is important that you browser is using the latest version of the plugin. Some versions and brands of browsers will perform the plugin upgrade automatically when you access scanning in WEB. In some cases you may need to manually un-install the old plugin and then install the new version of the plug-in. The scanning plugin version compatible with WEB 8.1 is Dynamic Web TWAIN Step 1: Find out if you have the scanning plugin installed and what version of the plugin your browser is using. In Firefox (as of version 9): Click Tools/Addons. Check that you have version or later. Do NOT disable the plugin. If the plugin is out of date you need to uninstall the old version and then install a new version. See instructions later in this document on how to do this.

5 In Google Chrome (as of version 16): Go to chrome://plugins. Do NOT disable the plugin. If the plugin is out of date you need to uninstall the old version and then install a new version. See instructions later in this document on how to do this. In Apple Safari (as of version 5.1): Click Help, Preferences, Security. This will display the dialog below. Safari does not currently show what version of the scanning plugin you have installed however it does show if the plugin is installed or not.

6 Step 2: If the scanning plugin version is older/less than Open the Windows Control Panel/Programs and Features and find the Dynamic Web TWAIN Plug-in. Uninstall the plugin. Step 3: Login to WEB using your Web browser. Open the scanning dialog (From Add or Cabinet Tab). Click the Scan button. WEB will now prompt you to install the new version of the plugin.

7 I m getting an error dialog when I try to scan or upload a large document. What is the problem? The Web server you are connected to most likely have a limit on the file size it will allow for upload from a browser. WEB cannot override this limit. The file size limit is typically about 30 MB. Please contact your system administrator who can change the limit in the Internet Information Server (IIS) on the Web server. See IIS documentation for your server OS on how to do this. The method and location for where to change the upload limit varies depending on the server s operating system version. Below is one of the dialogs you may encounter. How do I control if a PDF document is opened in the Web Browser or in Adobe Acrobat? Open Adobe Reader. Click Edit Preferences. Check or un-check the Display PDF in Browser check box.

8 Adobe PDF s will not open from Web. Issue: After you install Adobe Acrobat 9 or Adobe Reader 9, or upgrade to Adobe Reader 9 or Acrobat 9 from an earlier version of Acrobat or Adobe Reader, PDF files are not displayed within the main browser window, even though the preference chosen/deployed is set to "Display PDF in browser". Solution: (see TechNote on Adobe web site at): Display PDF in browser Acrobat, Reader XI Other potential problems with opening a PDF. Issue: Adobe Reader or Acrobat cannot display a PDF file inside a compatible web browser. This problem may appear in a number of ways, including (but not limited to) the following behaviors: - A blank page in the web browser - A broken object link (for example, a red square, a blue triangle, or a blue circle) - A red X icon - Error: "The Adobe Acrobat/Reader that is running cannot be used to view PDF files in a web browser. Adobe Acrobat/Reader version 8 or 9 is required. Please exit and try again." Solution: (see TechNote on Adobe web site at): Display PDF in browser Acrobat, Reader XI Problems viewing multi page TIFFs Issue: On some systems there may be issues when trying to view a document of type TIFF that contain multiple pages. In some cases the system will only display the first page. This is typically caused by your system having the file type TIFF associated with a program that cannot display a multi-page TIFF. Windows XP: - Open Windows Explorer by right-clicking the Start button, and then click Explore. - Click a folder that contains a file of the type that you want Windows to open in a program that you select.

9 - Right-click the file and, depending on the programs installed on your computer, complete one of the following steps: - Click Open With to choose the program that you want. - Point to Open With, and then click Choose Program to choose the program that you want. - The Open With dialog box is displayed. Use one of the following methods to select the program that you want to use for this file type: - In the Programs list, click the program that you want to use. - Click Browse, locate and then click the program that you want to use, and then click Open. - Click Look for the appropriate program on the Web to browse the Internet for the program that you want to use. - Click to select the Always use the selected program to open this kind of file check box if it is not selected. - Click OK. Windows 7 - Click on Start. - In the right hand menu click on default programs. - Click Associate a file type or protocol with a program. - That will open a list of file extensions such as.tiff. Double click on the extension you want to change. - A window will open giving you a choice of programs to choose from. - If your program is not on the list, look below it and click on the browse button. Scroll through additional programs and click on the one that you want to associate with your file type. Windows 8 - Click on Start. - Search for and click on default programs. - Click Associate a file type or protocol with a program. - That will open a list of file extensions such as.tiff. Double click on the extension you want to change. - A window will open giving you a choice of programs to choose from. - If your program is not on the list, look below it and click on the browse button. Scroll through additional programs and click on the one that you want to associate with your file type. Issue: The browser starts QuickTime viewer and only displays the first page.

10 1. Right click on the image, and select Plug-in Settings. 2. Make sure that you are in the Browser Plug-in setting page, and click on MIME Settings. 3. Expand images Still image files, then uncheck TIFF image file
