1 Download Abacus Payroll Software and Activating Software: Before you can install Abacus Payroll Software you need to ensure that your computer/laptop meets the following requirements: Windows 7 or Higher (XP/Visa discontinued by Microsoft) Windows Server 2003 or Higher Microsoft Excel 2003 or Higher Acrobat Reader Pentium 3 1Gig RAM Min 1Gig Free Disk Space Also Remember: Easy installation on 1 Computer/Laptop no server needed. Right click on any description or SARS Code for extensive Help Function/Explanation. Abacus Payroll Software runs on SQL Database Express (free). Follow these steps to ensure that the settings on your computer/ laptop are compatible (before downloading Abacus Payroll Software): Desktop 1 P a g e

2 Click on Start button Click on Control Panel. Click on Region and Language option. Click on the Formats dropdown box and select: Click on Short date dropdown box and select: Click on Additional settings button 2 P a g e

3 Click on button Ensure that the currency symbol reflects R for South African Rand. If not change it to reflect R. Click on OK button. Click on Apply button Click on OK button. 3 P a g e

4 Download Abacus Payroll Software and Activate: Step 1 Download Abacus Payroll Software demo only Desktop Click on Start button. Abacus Payroll software must be downloaded through Internet Explorer or any other related internet software. Click on All Programs Click on Internet Explorer Type and search website. 4 P a g e

5 Click on Download Abacus Payroll Software. Complete information required: Click on Submit button Click on Download NOW button. ABACUS CD.rar will start downloading. Save this download, once completed 5 P a g e

6 Click on Save button Please take note of where you save the "Abacus CD.zip" file, as you would need to execute the software from that location. For this example we will save the software on your local Desktop. Right click on the Abacus CD.zip icon. Click Extract to Abacus CD Once you have extracted the software, a new folder will have been created on your desktop named "Abacus CD" Double click Abacus CD folder 6 P a g e

8 Click on Install button. Once you select the "Install" option, Abacus Payroll will be installed. Depending on your computer configuration and current software, additional software might be required, which will be indicated during the installation. You can follow the screen prompts that will guide you through that process. User will now be able to login into Abacus Payroll Software Demo Version. Double click on Abacus Logo on dektop. The username and Password is already completed. Click on login button. User has access to demo version of Abacus Payroll Software. 8 P a g e

9 Step2 Register for Online Training Return to and complete step 2 should you be interested to register for our online training. The user is also welcome to contact us on our support line or mail should he rather require one-on-one training from one of our Abacus Certified Agents. An activation key will be ed to the user once ABACUS has received payment for the training. Abacus Payroll Software may not be activated unless the user received the necessary User Training. Step 3 - Activating ABACUS Payroll Software version 4.4 At this point the user has received a mail from Abacus with an activation key to enable user to activate Abacus Payroll Software. Double click on Abacus logo Click on login button. 9 P a g e

10 Click on System Settings button. Enter address and serial key as received from Abacus Payroll Software. Click on Activate /Upgrade Abacus Payroll button. 10 P a g e

11 Read carefully through the terms and conditions. Click in the tick box Click on Next button Complete all the Company/User information as required on this screen: Click on Register button. 11 P a g e

12 Click on OK button Click on Close button. Exit Abacus Payroll Software. Step - 4 Setup System Administrator settings: NOTE: The System Administrator will have access to only the system settings tab. The System Administrator will be able to set the settings on the following tabs: 12 P a g e

13 Process to follow: Double click on Abacus Logo on desktop. Username: SysAdmin Password: Password Click on Login button. Click on System Settings button. 13 P a g e

14 Field Username: Password: Address: Confirm Address: Company: Description SysAdmin Enter a password of own choice Enter the System Administrator s address Confirm the above address by re typing it. Enter the Companies name e.g. Pick n Pay Click on Save button: Click on Ok button. Do not log out as the System Administrator now has to set up the User with User Rights. 14 P a g e

15 Step5 Set up the User with User Rights Return to User Screen Field User Name: Password: Address: Confirm Address: Company: Description Enter the new user s name e.g.johan Potgieter Enter a unique password. This is the User Name and Password the User will use to log into Abacus Payroll software in future. Enter the user s address. Confirm the above entered address. Enter the Companies name e.g. Pick n Pay Click on Save button 15 P a g e

16 Click on Ok button Click on button Set User Rights. The System Administrator will at this point give specific user rights to the user by right clicking in the tick boxes next to the description. Should the user have all rights then click in the tickbox Administrator (Full Access) to give the user full access to all functions. Click on Save button. Click on OK button. 17 At this point two logins were created, each with own unique password: System Administrator with full access to setup of Users, settings, Printer settings, Licence Settings. User full access to all functions of Abacus Payroll Software. 17 P a g e
